I don't have William Henry Mansfield's estate file and didn't see him listed
in the will index, but according to our records, he is supposedly buried in the Brookston
IOOF Cemetery. His death record stated he died from cystitis kidney & prostate. I
don't believe it listed his burial location but it has been awhile since I looked at
it. I might still have it on microfilm. If William Henry Mansfield is indeed buried in
the Brookston IOOF Cemetery, he does not have a tombstone; so this can't be confirmed
or denied. A probate or obituary record might list this information.
If you know when his second wife Martha died, her obituary might list where she is buried.
It is likely that they are buried together. His first wife, Rosamond is probably buried
in Auglaize Twp, Paulding County, Ohio where she died in 1872. If it exists, you could
also look for a funeral home record and see if it states the burial location.
You might also check the newspapers. Usually a notice is put in the paper for estates so
heirs can contact the court. I would check after the time of his death for about a year.
The newspapers can be found at the Monticello Library. You'll either have to go there
to do research or hire someone because the library does't have time to do look ups.
The other William H. Mansfield who married Elizabeth H. Shigley is also buried in the
Brookston IOOF Cemetery in section 4-29. Many of his descendants are buried there too.
I have more information on both William Mansfield's if you want it. Please contact me
directly and I'll be happy to share. theadpalmers(a)yahoo.com
If you find any further details, please let me know. Thanks.
