Trade Information on KEEVER family of Mifflin Co., PA/White Co., IN/Cass Co., IN
I am working on a large ROTHROCK family tree. George ROTHROCK (1747-1826) married
Elizabeth MYERS (1751-1827) and both died in Mifflin Co., PA. The youngest of their ten
known children was Anna ROTHROCK (1793-1864) who married Robert KEEVER (1787-1867) in
c1812. Both Anna and Robert died in Mifflin Co., PA and were buried at the Tate
(Rothrock-Hoyt) Cemetery, at Ferguson Valley, Derry Township, Mifflin County,
Pennsylvania.
Robert KEEVER was the son of John KEEVER (1746-1814) and Margaret MEANS (1748-1825), both
of whom died in Mifflin Co., PA, though John was born in Hunterdon Co., NJ. I believe the
surname was originally spelled CEVER.
Anna and Robert KEEVER were the parents of eight known children, as follows:
1) John KEEVER (1813-1888) married Susan MYERS (1813-1893) and they raised their family
in Mifflin Co., PA. They lived there until at least 1870 and then moved to Jewell County,
Kansas. Parents of five children: Robert, William, Mary A., George and John H.
2) Elizabeth KEEVER (1816-1860) married Samuel McCLINTIC (1810-1859). Married in Mifflin
Co., PA c1837 and moved to White Co., IN in c1848. Both parents buried at the Rothrock
Cemetery II, located south of Monticello on Airport Road, Union Township, White County,
Indiana. Parents of seven known children: Samuel Keever; Robert J., Margaret A., William
W., Mary C., Orlando and Emaline.
3) Robert KEEVER (1819-1897) married 1) Mary A. KELLY (1816-1850) and 2) Susan J. ???
(1836-1886). Mary died in Mifflin Co., PA and the family moved shortly after to White
Co., IN. Robert and Susan are buried at the Rothrock I Cemetery, near Cowger, Union
Township, White County, Indiana. I assume Mary is buried at Mifflin Co., PA. Robert was
father of Orlando; Anna B.; Clara V.; Mary M.; Norman; Jane M.; Alice H.; and Robert N.
4) George R. KEEVER (1821-1894) married Susan WRIGHT (1815-1897) in 1837 at Mifflin Co.,
PA. The family moved from Mifflin Co., PA to White Co., IN in c1855. George (and Susan?)
is buried at the Pike Creek Cemetery, at Union Township, White County, Indiana. Parents
of Sarah Catherine; George E.; Mary E.; Christy; Thomas W.; John Marion; Robert N.;
Wilson; Susan Jane; and Samuel. Children lived in White and Cass Counties, Indiana.
5) Margaret M. KEEVER (1823-1899) married Felix Garver SMOKER (1821-1887) in 1844. Both
died in Mifflin Co., PA, where I assume they are buried. Parents of Anna Catherine; Mary
Olive; Rolandus Lee (moved to White Co., IN); Jacob E.; Margaret Elizabeth; Araminta
Jemima; Robert K.; Minerva "Minnie"; Alice; John A. and Homar F.
6) Asenath KEEVER (1826-1893) married John J. ROSS (1825-1912) in 1848 at Mifflin Co.,
PA. Moved to White Co., IN in 1867. Did Asenath really die in 1893? Doesn't appear
to be living with family in 1880. After Asenath died in 1893 family moved to Woodson
County, Kansas. Parents of John K.; George R.; Ruth Ann; Robert A.; Mary M.; A.; and
Nettie A. John remarried to Susie H. WILCOXSON in 1894.
7) Mary Ann KEEVER (1827-???). Unmarried in 1880, living at home of her cousin, Robert
MEANS in Mifflin Co., PA.
8) William KEEVER (1832-???) married Nancy (Mary?) McGIRK. Both died in Mifflin Co., PA?
Daughter, Jane (b. 1859). Family lived in Mifflin Co., PA in 1870. In 1870 a Nancy
KEEVER (widow?) and son James KEEVER (b. c1866) lived in Mifflin County. Did William die
between 1866 and 1870?
I have various amounts of info on the descendants of these eight families. Please contact
me for further information. Dan_Stevenson(a)sparta.com.
