Thanks for your comment. I agree the image is light, sloppy and hard to read, but I
believe it is Martin Frank. I have traced the family with each census, checking family
members, ages & occupations to make sure it is the right family. He is 3 months old in
the 1860 census with the last name spelled Frank. He is 11 years old in the 1870 census
with the last name spelled Franke. So he would be 21 in the 1880 census. His
parent's name in the 1880 census is spelled Fraunk. But, Martin is not shown living
with them. If it isn't him in the 1880 census in White Cnty, Indiana, he must have
died because there isn't any other person, 21 yrs old, with a name that looks like
Martin Frank. Census takers were always spelling names wrong or too sloppy to read.
That's when "soundex" comes in handy. I believe it is Martin Frank.
