Hi Kelly,
I have the Master Index and the cemetery listings, as put out by the White
County Genealogical Society - and do not find any Chapmans listed in the
Brookston Index. That does not mean that they are not buried there, I
suppose - perhaps could be buried there but no headstone? They have also
pooled some information from funeral homes, but I personally don't know if
there are listings in the White County booklets that are unmarked burial
information only. Are you sure that William Ross Chapman is buried
there? The alternative is, I suppose, that the tombstone(s) may be
unreadable now and not included? The Brookston IOOF Cemetery was
originally recorded in 1979, updated in July 1996.
Good luck!
Diane

I'm looking for information on a Chunas (Chamas/Chanas/Chumas sp?) Chapman,
a 65 yr old female found in the White Co., IN 1860 census. She was living
in the household of William Ross Chapman (age 39). I believe Chunas may be
William's mother. Chunas was born in Maryland.
If someone has access to the Cemetery index for Brookston Cemetery I would
appreciate a lookup. Chunas was not listed with the same family in the 1870
census, so I believe she died between 1860 and 1870.
I'm grasping at straws here. William Ross Chapman is my brick wall. He was
born in 1821 in OH. I'm searching for his parents and his place of birth.
William died 14-Feb-1877 and is buried in the Brookston cemetery, so I'm
assuming that Chunas may be buried in the same cemetery.
Thanks in advance,
