Hi Brenda,
I have the cemetery records & some information regarding John W. Russell who is
buried in the Brookston IOOF Cemetery. If you could fill in any missing details, I would
greatly appreciate it.
RUSSELL, John W.
born: abt 1872 Massillion, Stark, Ohio
parents: William D. Russell & Margaret Elizabeth Baughman
spouse: Frances (maiden name unknown)
marriage date & place unknown
died: 26 Apr 1930 St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, Tippecanoe, Indiana from
streptoccic, septocemia, injury to right thumb
buried: 28 Apr 1930 Brookston IOOF Cemetery, plot 2-2.
His tombstone is currently underground. This is a very old section of the cemetery. We
have a few more eagle scouts who will be unearthing buried stones and cleaning up
illegible ones.
If his wife is buried here, we don't know about it. Although there is a stone which
reads, "F. L. T. Russell" which we have been unable to identify in section 2-2.
Do you have any more information on the wife, Frances? Have you contacted the Funeral
home to look at their records? Many times they will not only list when they died but also
tell the burial location. If she is buried in another cemetery, they would now about it.
Neither Jo Ann nor I have not looked at any of the Vianco Funeral home records.
I am very interested to know if she is buried here because Jo Ann & I are just about
ready to publish our book on the Brookston IOOF Cemetery and if she is here we want to
make sure she is included.
Good luck searching
Dana
