Susan,
I believe that Sarah Sykes was Albert Briggs' second wife.
An Albert Briggs married Harriet Kirby, 4 Feb 1869, in Iroquois Co., IL per the Illinois
State Archives "Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763–1900" database at
www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/marrsrch.html
Harriet died 21 Aug 1870 and is buried in Barden/Carson/McDougal Cemetery, Danforth Twp,
Iroquois Co., IL. Harriet's death and burial information is found on the web site of
the Iroquois County Genealogical Society at
www.rootsweb.com/~ilicgs/cems/milcemc.htm
See the 1870 Census entry for Albert Briggs in Iroquois Co., IL (Series: M593 Roll: 231
Page: 335)
Briggs, Albert 24 M W Works on farm New York
---------- Harriet 20 F W Keeping house Indiana
The official census date for 1870 was June 1. The census enumeration date for the Albert
Briggs household was 30 Aug 1870, 9 days after death date given for Harriet in the
cemetery transcription on the web site of the Iroquois County Genealogical Society.
Harriet may be a sister of my great grandfather, James Kirby.
Do you have any information on Charlotte, the other daughter of Albert Briggs and Sarah
Sykes?
Is Emmett Painter, son of Frank Painter and Kate Briggs the same person as Ernie Painter
shown with Frank and Kate in the 1920 census for White Co., IN?
Do you have information on Frank and Kate's daughter Cecil, shown with Frank and Kate
in the 1900 census of Newton Co., IN and in the 1910 census of White Co. IN?
Any idea as to why Albert and Sarah moved to Walker, IN? Is that the Walker in Jasper
Co.?
Thanks in advance for any information regarding Albert Briggs and his family that you wish
to share.
