Message Board Post:
I'm looking for someone who would lookup an article in the Monticello Herald from the
end of April to May 5, 1892. Another kind volunteer in Darke County, Ohio, found in the
Democrat Advocate (Darke County) dated May 5, 1892, the following news item:
"BOWEN, James, A young man, formerly of this city, was killed on the Monon Road in
Indiana last Sunday night. A fireman, and leaves a wife and L [1] child."
I believe the James BOWEN mentioned here was the first husband of my gg-grandmother Cora
Alice WANICH. They had two sons; Russel born about 1889 and Ralph born 18 Aug 1892,
apparently several months after his father's death. Cora went on to marry second
George L. UPP on 11 Nov 1898 in Jay County, Indiana.
Thank you,
Mary Schumacher
