If the mother died in child birth and the child was sent to an orphanage, there may be a
guardianship record at the probate court. I'm pretty sure they would have some court
record detailing the child being sent to an orphanage. Probate records are located by the
county. So you should check in all the counties you believe they may have filed the
record in, especially White Co. IN. Some of these are on microfilm at
www.familysearch.org if you click on FHLC and then place search "White" and
"Indiana". Click on the probate court records and you should find a listing of
the microfilms. For the later years you will need to see exactly where they are housed
and if they will do a look up for you and their fees. Good luck.
