I have some information on Morgan and Susanna Pettit. He died 5 July 1886 from a heart
attack on the city streets of Logansport. His obituary appears on page 8, Thursday, 8 July
1886 in the Monticello Herald. He was the brother of Amos Pettit Sr. who died of Typhoid
Fever on Wednesday, 5 Jan 1881.
His obit. ran in the Monticello Herald on 6 Jan 1881.
Morgan and Susanna are buried in the Idaville Cemetery as are their son Wilson Franklin
Pettit. Wilson's wife was Caroline M. Peyton. They also have an infant buried in the
Idaville Cemetery.
My Pettit Line comes from Mahlon Pettit who married Louisa Sprague/Spragg. She was the
sister of my g-g-grandfather James Sprague/Spragg. Both migrated from New Jersey. Both
were long residents of White County.
Let me know what info you need, and maybe I can help. Would like some information on
Mahlon Pettit's parents.
