Hello Diane,
You caught my interest by your statement on the White Co. ListServ that
you have an all-name index for cemeteries in White Co. IN. I am
researching a Hardy family that lived in White Co. I write to ask if you
would you be kind enough to look for Hardy names in your cemetery index.
Following is the information I have already collected. Virtually all of
my information is from secondary sources and needs to be proven:
Thomas Agustus (or Agustus Thomas) Hardy, born 1832 in PA and died12 Nov
1895 in his home west of Monon, White Co., Indiana. I have no indication
of his burial site.
His father, Christopher Hardy, moved from Pennsylvania in his late years
and is listed in the 1870 census for White Co. IN at age 83. Presumably
this elder Christopher Hardy died and was buried in White Co. not very
long after the 1870 census.
Thomas' wife, Mary Jane (Sulouff>Suloff) Hardy (my first cousin, four
times removed) was b. 1836 in PA and died 28 Dec 1878 in Monticello,
White Co., Indiana. She is reportedly buried in Monticello, but I do not
know what cemetery.
I have the following unproven information on their children:
1) James W. Hardy b. 27 Nov 1857 d. 18 Sep 1880 Monticello, White Co.,
IN.
2) Laura J. Hardy b. 1860, m. George F. McDonald 6 Dec 1878, d. 6 Mar
1881 in Monon, White Co., IN (presumably gravestone would be inscribed
Laura Mcdonald.)
3) David Kerlin Hardy b. 14 Apr 1866, d. 11 May 1957 Burnettsville,
White Co. IN. He married Caroline Temple b. 15 Dec 1874, d. 18 Sep 1946.
4) Jolene Ann 'Julia' Hardy b. 28 Jun 1868, d. 6 Mar 1881 Monticello,
White Co. IN bu. Old Monticello Cemetery, Monticello, White Co.
5) Thomas Hardy, (Jr.?) b. 23 Apr 1870 White Co. IN, d. 25 Dec 1872
(Birthdate as received is questionable because it is one month before
his sister, Mary.)
6) Mary E. 'Maud' Hardy b. 28 May 1870 White Co. IN, d. 15 Mar 1888
Monon, White Co. IN, bu. Old Monticello Cemetery, Monticello, White Co.
IN (Questionable birthdate one month after brother, Thomas.)
7) Alexander S. Hardy b. 1872 White Co. IN, d. 1947. On 22 Feb 1899 m.
Minnie G. Albright b. 15 Sep 1879, d. 5 Dec 1980.
Alexander and Minnie reportedly had a daughter Minnie Albright Hardy b.
1899 (no further information)
8) George McDonald Hardy b. before 1878 (no further information)
Finally, Thomas Hardy had a brother named Christopher, Jr. who
reportedly died in Remington in nearby Jasper Co. IN, so I don't expect
you will run across names from his family in White Co.
I know this list is pretty long, and be assured that any help you can
provide to support or refute the information I have will be greatly
appreciated.

Subject: [INWHITE] Re Waymire cemetery listing
Vicki,
I have the All Name Master Index to White County Cemeteries, and there
is
no David or Elizabeth Waymire listed in it. There are 14 other
Waymire
listings, in case the names are of interest to you.
