In 1985, a book entitled, "History of Jasper County Indiana" was compiled which
featured short articles on various local individuals and families. The Little family is
mentioned in the article about some of my kin, Francis and Hazel Tyler. Hazel was an
Antcliff, whose mother was Cora Bell Little, daughter of Guy Little and Carrie Bell. Guy
Little along with brother William Little came from Illinois and settled on farms in Gilboa
Township , Benton County . As mentioned in Susan's posting, William Little and wife
Lottie had three children, Guy, Edith, and Robert. The article states that Guy and
William's father was Robert Little who was born in Lanarkshire , Scotland , March 30,
1817. Robert married Jane Brine in Pennsylvania in 1839. Robert's parents were Guy
and Jennetta (Dickson) Little, probably born in the 1700's. Robert and Jane had seven
children as follows: Jane, Robert, James, Guy, Mary, Anna, and William John. The article
ends by saying, "See Counties of War!
ren , Benton , Jasper and Newton , published by F.A. Battey, Chicago , 1883". I
have not tried to look it up, but I bet there is a biography written on one or more of
these family members in this county history book.
Sorry, I can't specifically help you with your original question, since the article
does not state Robert's birth date. Maybe you are already aware of the Tyler article
and the info on the Little family lineage that it contains, but if not, I will be happy to
provide you with a copy. I have scanned the article (.pdf format), and if you wish to
contact me directly, I will be glad to e-mail it to you.
