I found a William (1833) and Mary (1833) Helfrich family from PA listed in the 1880 Liberty Twp., White Co., IN census. Seven children were also listed in this household, all born in PA, the youngest having been born in 1875.
They are also listed in the 1900 Liberty Twp., White Co., in census, but by 1910 William is widowed and living with his son George in Monon Twp., White Co., Indiana.
Liberty Twp., White Co., Indiana is borders Lake Shafer to the west and Cass Twp. to the east. It is located north/northeast of Monticello. The largest town (it is actually a small town) in Liberty Twp. is Buffalo which sits along the Tippecanoe River. Most of the township consists of farmland.
I agree with the other posting, Monticello Public Library and the White Co., Historical Society are good places to start your search. The society has limited hours though. (Open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from
8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. - Admission is Free)
Another source would be the White County Courthouse for marriage records and the White County Health Dept for birth and death records.
I hope this helps...................Karen

Is it White County, INDIANA or some other White County? A while back someone wanted something in "White County" but it turned out to be White County, Illinois. Since your question is to All Boards I can't tell. If it is White County, Indiana there is a collection of information at the Monticello library and the White County historical society. There is a plat book for 1873 and 1896 so you can find their farm if you know about where to look. Land records are available in the Recorder's office in the Court House. There may be an estate record also. If so, you can find out all kinds of good things.

I was born in Monon, Indiana many years ago, and my family was very
well acquainted with the Helfrichs, some of whom lived in Monon at that
time. Unfortunately, I was too young then to have any information of use
to you. The White County Genealogical Society in Monticello will be very
helpful, and they have a wealth of information available. They are only
open for a few hours per week, but will work with you by phone or mail. I
also received valuable help from the library in Monticello in my own
research.

where to start would be helpful.

We have gotten several birth dates for Robert. We sent for his application for his social security number He stated his birthdate was Aug.11 1914. His death record states Aug.11 1914. I sent money to the state of Indiana State Department of Health for a record and they stated there was no record for a Robert Minnick or Robert Felix.
Robert was supposly stolen from an orphanage in Indiana. On Robert's son's birth record Robert states he was born in Greencastle. On Robert's death record it states he was born in Monticello.
We are still searching but it's leading to a dead end.
