Yes, it's a great help--but more questions arise!
1. The Wells County cemetery index says that Mildred Mills's grave (d. 1978, buried
Oak Lawn)is next to Jo Ann Mills, who stone says "Mother." I think this is
another Mildred, not "ours."
2. Poor William Young's cemetery listing has the notation "single." He died
1944, so I guess he and Bessie divorced.
3. William A. Merkey first married Edith Folk, who died in 1929. I can't find Bessie
or Mildred's subsequent marriages.
4. Mildred Mills married Harry Hedges in 1915; they were the parents of Edward A. Hedge
in 1916 (I haven't been able to find them in the 1920 census yet). Harry and Edward
are buried in Beth and Fairview Cemeteries. Harry died in 1977, so if Mildred was Mrs.
Morris in 1936, I guess they divorced.
5. I also can't find George Morris in the 1920 census. Daughter Alice should be
there, too, as she was born (according to the 1930 census) in 1919. Of course, Alice
& Josephine could be George's daughters from a prior marriage; I wish I could find
them in the 1920 census.
6. If John's obit gave Mildred's name as "Miss Mildred Mills," I'm
wondering if she and George divorced, too.
Do you have access to divorce records? I've not come across them online.
THANK YOU for your help! I didn't know about brother John until your reply.
