Here's some hints for your visit to Wells County.
The Bluffton library is where you want to go not Ossian it's only a branch.
We have a great Indiana room and the girls are very helpful there.
As for a place to stay we have a Holiday Inn Express 1260-824-4455, Bluffton
Inn and Suites at 1-260-824 5553(this is locally owned and next to a
Richard's Restaurant very clean and reasonable if you mention your doing
Genealogy and my name you may get a discount) Also we have a B&B Washington
Street Inn that is very reasonable in price also, mention that I sent you
and your doing research.
The Oaklawn cemetery is very well kept and has great records, which can be
found at the Bluffton library or at the cemetery.
Since you have a good description of the land you could possible find the
records of it at the Auditor's office in the court house. However it would
be best to start at the Assessor's office for a property card. Then go to
the auditor's office (all in the courthouse on the same floor). They are
usually very helpful.
If you have more questions let me know.

Hi,  I am planning a trip to Indiana in a couple of weeks. I will be
driving a couple thousand miles and will only be able to stay a couple of
days, any suggestions? on places I should visit and where to stay?Â
My biggest wish is to find out when Robert and Mary Ann Stout McConnel
died and where they are buried. I plan to visit the cemeteries listed
below and the Ossian library.I Â hope to find a map where Robert
McConnelâ?Ts farm was from 1848-187_? I have a plat map, but was told he
did not have the whole section 8.        First land claimants inÂ

appear in any of the on-line death, cemetery, or obituary indexes that I
have searched.Mary Ann (Stout) McConnel, born NJ, 1807, Â died after 1880
Ossian census, date and burial location unknown (there is a younger Mary
McConnell who is unrelated). Two of Robert and Mary Annâ?Ts daughters are
