Hello. I am new to the list. I am looking for some kind of documentation
proving my ggrpa James G. Hartley lived in Keystone. I have in my
possession a picture of him in his Sunday best with a tie sitting on a
porch swing by himself. The only thing written on the back is his name &
Keystone, Indiana. He remarried sometime after 1938 after his first
wife Cenia Mae Zornes Hartley died. I am told his 2nd wife owned a farm
on the outskirts of town. I do not know her name but there is a Lyda C.
Scrowls Hartley d 8/12/1900 in the cemetery records at
www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/us/index.html that I just found.
I'm told he worked in a sawmill but I do not know if the sawmill was in
Keystone or Dunkirk, Indiana.
He was born in Lewis, Ky maybe around 1890.
If anyone has any advice or suggestions on where to go from here I would
GREATLY APPRECIATE THEM.
I live (roughly) 3 hours away from Keystone but am planning a trip there
to dig in the town records. Could someone tell me if there is a
Historical Society there? What about their records (land records), also
where is the Health Dept. & can I get a death certificate search done (&
hopefully a copy of it)????? I don't even have a death date for James
let alone a burial site. Feel free to email me at jackeeblue(a)webtv.net
Thank you so much,
Jacqueline Hartley
