The book I copied this info from was about the Blackford County Pioneers - not sure of the
actual name. The book is made up of biographical outlines sent in by people who applied
for Blackford County Pioneer Certificates.
The pages I copied were submitted by Daniel K. Oswalt, 1057W 1200N, Montpelier, IN.
Perhaps he might be able to give you more information. He is descended from Henry &
Francenia's daughter Amanda Melissa who married William H. Miller. They had a
daughter named Ida Elsie Miller who married Frederick William Oswalt. Their child Edward
Lavere Oswalt was the father of Daniel K. Oswalt.
He states that "Henry G. Miller was married in Blackford Co. on 7 Jan. 1847. He was
a farmer and a millwright. He and his brother ran a grist mill on the Blackford-Wells
County line on the Salamonie River. The "G" stands for "Gugenmuller",
the family name in Bavaria Germany."
I know just enough of the German language to know that "muller" or
"mueller" means "Miller". Have no idea what "Gugen" means
but can probably find out.
If you would email me at blueheron46733(a)yahoo.com and give me your snail mail address
I'll be happy to send you the two pages I copied from the book. Hopefully within the
next couple weeks I'll be back in Bluffton - I live only about 20 miles from Bluffton
and often go over to visit my favorite cousin. I'll try to make time to get to the
library again and see if I can find any more info for you.
