Jack McCray, 51, Dies in Alabama
A native of Bluffton, Jack McCray, 51, of Uniontown, Ala., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Morris McCray, 316 West Wiley Ave., died at 8:15 a.m. today at Selma,
Ala., Medical Center, where he had been a patient three weeks. Death was
due to flu and complications.
A veteran of World War II, he served as an instructor with the Navy Air
Force at Pensacola, Fla., and also in the South Pacific.
Mr. McCray, who was engaged in raising cattle, was a member of Bluffton
American Legion Post III.
Born Sept. 21, 1920 in Bluffton, he was a son of Morris and Ethel L.
Higgins McCray. His marriage to Louise Stollenwerk, who survives, took
place at Uniontown.
Surviving, in addition to the wife and parents, are two daughters, Mrs.
Tommy (Jacquelyn) Belcher of Faunsdell, Ala., and Miss Mary Lucille
McCray, a student at the University of Alabama; a brother, Harold of
Converse, and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Lawrence Funeral Home at Selma. Services will be
at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Uniontown Presbyterian Church and burial will be
at Uniontown.
