Gerald "Jerry" Nuttle, 85
Former Bluffton resident Gerald E. "Jerry" Nuttle, 85, of Bartow, Fla., died at
8:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan . 30 at Palm Garden of Winter Haven, Fla.
Born Sept. 4, 1919 in Hartford City to Roy and Coy Snell Nuttle, he was a graduate of
Hartford City High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired
from Overhead Door Corp. in Hartford City, where he was a member of the Millard-Brown
American Legion Post 156, the VFW Post 10929 and the Montpelier Lions Club. He also had
lived in Montpelier before moving to Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Delores, whom he married on July 31, 1964 in Portland; three
step-sons, Richard and Thomas Huffman, both of Montpelier, and Charles Penrod of Bartow,
Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
sister, Gwen Summerlot.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel in
Montpelier, with visitation hours there for two hours prior to the service. Burial will be
in Gardens of Memory in Muncie, with graveside military rites by the American Legion.
Paul C. Krick, 85
Paul C. Krick, 85, rural Ossian, died Sunday, Jan. 30 at his residence.
Born in Adams County on Jan. 11, 1920 to Joseph D. and Ida Mae Mauller Krick, he married
Marguerite Wilson on Feb. 2, 1916 in Decatur; she survives.
A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was a farmer, retiring in 1985. He was
a member of the Ossian United Methodist Church, the Decatur Moose Lodge and the American
Legion Post 43 in Decatur.
Other survivors include three sons, Lloyd, Bradford and Keith Krick, all of Ossian; six
grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and
four sisters.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home in
Ossian,with Rev. Tim Dilley officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian, with military graveside rites by the
Decatur American Legion.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
Mary D. Kilander, 77
Mary D. Kilander, 77, of Jackson Township, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at the
United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren.
Born in Grant County on Nov. 7, 1927 to Lewis L. and Delores Moriarity Green, she married
Leon M. Kilander Sr. on April 21, 1951 in McNatt; he survives.
A1945 graduate of Van Buren High School, she and her husband farmed in Jackson Township
for many years. She was a member of the Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church where she
was a Sunday School teacher and active in the United Methodist Women.
Other survivors include two sons, Leon Jr. and Robert Kilander, both of Jackson Township;
a daughter, Deborah Kilander of Portland; two step brothers, Rex and Max Shinholt, both of
Van Buren; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-mother,
Geraldine Green; and two sisters, Madonna Smith and Lois Duckwall.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel
in Warren, with Rev. David Hess officiating. Visitation hours are today from 2 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes
Association.
Rolland Cole, 91
The father of Mrs. Kerry (Fayellen) Leamon of Ossian, Rolland D. Cole, 91, Pennville, died
Sunday morning, Jan. 30 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born in Towson, Md. on Sept. 13, 1913 to Robert L. and Sarah E. Henderson Cole, he married
Thelma Beeler on July 27, 1944; she survives.
Mr. Cole was a 1932 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis and a 1934
graduate of the Bradley University of Watch Making in Peoria, Ill. A U.S. Navy veteran
during World War II, he owned and operated R.D. Cole's Jewelers in Portland from 1948
until 1955. He then owned and operated the Greenville Hotel in Greenville, Ohio for a
short time, then worked for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis and finished his working career
with the U.S. Conservation Service in Muncie and Paoli. He continued to operate a watch
repair and jewelry business part time after his retirement in Pennville.
He was a member of the Pennville United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 482, the
Pennville Masonic Lodge and the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.
Other survivors include a son, Rolland Cole II of Kokomo; a step-son, Clinton Teeters of
New Paris; two half-brothers, Henry and James Cole, both of Charleston, W. Va.; a
half-sister, Phyllis Young of Lookout, W. Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great
grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Pennville Chapel of the Williamson and
Spencer Funeral Home. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday for one
hour prior to the service. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at
8 p.m.
Burial will be in the Twin Hills IOOF Cemetery in Pennville, with graveside military rites
by the Pennville American Legion. Preferred memorials are to the Jay County Heart
Association.

K. Richard Lenwell, 56
A native of Bluffton and brother of Kim E. Lenwell of Roanoke and Martyn F. Lenwell of
Ossian, K. Richard Lenwell, 56, of Fort Wayne died Monday, January 31, 2005, at his Fort
Wayne residence. He was a baker at Ellison Bakery for 30 years.
Born March 30, 1948, in Bluffton, he was a son of James and Marzee Lenwell,who survive at
Fort Wayne. He is an Air Force veteran.
Also surviving, in addition to the parents and the Roanoke and Ossian brothers, are
another brother, Chris J. Lenwell of San Francisco, Calif.
Visitation is today from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for
Funerals in Fort Wayne, where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in
Spider Hill Cemetery, Rockford, Ind., in Wells County. Memorials to the American Lung
Association.
Thomas B. Lloyd, 58
Retired in 2001 after 21 years as a dispatcher for the Howard County Sheriff's
Department at Kokomo, Thomas B. "Tom" Lloyd, 58, of Peru died at 2:51 a.m.
Monday, January 31, 2005, at Dukes Memorial Hospital at Peru.
He was a 1964 graduate of Kokomo High School and 1982 graduate with a bachelor of science
degree from Indiana University. A member of the Zion Tabernacle Church in Kokomo, he had
been involved in Christian Education and had been a Boy Scout leader there. He also was
active in the Howard County Civil Defense for which he was an EMT.
Born August 25, 1946, at Kingsport, Tennessee, he was the son of Thomas B. and Hazel D.
Davis Lloyd, both of whom preceded him in death.
His marriage was on Oct. 19, 1985 at Kokomo to Janet L. Kizer, daughter of the late Jerry
Kizer and Mary Kizer, who survives in Bluffton. Also surviving are three children, all at
home in Peru, Jeremy H., Christopher D. and Azuza Marie Lloyd.
Calling will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Grecu Family Funeral Home in Kokomo, where
the service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Pastors N.P. Urshan and Joel Urshan
officiating. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Six Mile Cemetery near
Bluffton. Memorials to the Zion Tabernacle Building Fund.
Olive M. (Neuhauser) Jones, 83
A Bluffton native and longtime former Wells County resident, Olive M. (Neuhauser) Jones,
83, of Bakersfield, Calif., died January 22, 2005, at that California location.
Born, March 11, 1921, she grew up in Tocsin and attended schools there and then Ossian
High School, where she graduated in 1939. Her marriage to Kenneth Neuhauser was in
December of 1940 and they resided in Bluffton. She worked for many years at the Wolf &
Dessauer store in Fort Wayne. She was active in those years in the Elks Lodge with her
husband and the Poplar Grove PTA.They were members of the Bluffton First United Methodist
Church.
In 1961, the Neuhausers and their family moved to Golden, Colorado, where Olive's
brother, Wendell Plummer, and family had re-located and resided several years. The
Neuhausers operated the Corn Cabin, a downtown confectionary in Golden.
Her second marriage was in 1972 to Hoy C. Jones and they moved to Ventura, California,
where they lived until 2002, when they moved to Bakersfield.
Surviving are the second husband, Hoy Jones, at Bakersfield; son, Michael Neuhauser of
Arroyo Grande, Calif.; a daughter, Margo Neuhauser of Bakersfield, and two grandsons. She
was preceded in death by daughter Jessica Neuhauser Hatfield.
Paul G. Krick, 85
Paul G. Krick, 85, rural Ossian, died Sunday, Jan. 30 at his residence.

Carolyn S. Nyffeler, 43
A laboratory technician at Caylor-Nickel Clinic for a period of 17 years, Carolyn S.
Nyffeler, 43, of rural Bluffton died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at home after an
extended illness.
Born April 25, 1961 in Fort Wayne to Bruce and Margaret Spink Nyffeler, she was a 1979
graduate of Bluffton High School and later earned a degree as a medical technologist from
IPFW in Fort Wayne. She worked at Parkview Hospital in the laboratory before coming to
Caylor Nickel.
Her mother survives and lives in Bluffton. Also surviving are two brothers, Doug Nyffeler
of Ossian and Jim Nyffeler of Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. Michael (Jean) Studabaker of
Bluffton, three nieces and three nephews. Her father preceded her in death in 1978.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home
with Rev. Nancy Howard officiating and burial to follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.

Doris J. Dunn, 77
Doris J. Dunn, 77, of Bluffton, died at her residence at 5:50 a.m. today, Feb. 4.
Born in Huntington County April 20, 1927 to Peter E. and Mary A. Huffman Tarr, her
marriage to Everett "Junior" J. Dunn took place June 18, 1948 in Knightstown. He
preceded her in death Sept. 18, 2003.
A 1945 graduate of Liberty Center High School, she attended International Business College
for two years. An office manager for the Gallivan, Hamilton & Seese law firm for 31
years, she retired in 1989. She was the first woman to be appointed to the Wells Community
Hospital Board. She was a member of the Wells County Business and Professional Women (BPW)
chapter and a former chairperson for the Wells County Democratic Party.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton where she served with
the Bell Choir.
Survivors include a son, Nicholas K. Dunn, of Lafayette and a granddaughter, Mrs. Doug
(Jennifer) Roller of Bluffton.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kris, and a grandson, Michael E. Dunn.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Monday will be held at the First United Methodist Church with Rev.
Gary Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thoma/Rich,
Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home and also one hour prior to services Monday at the
church.
Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Association or Family Hospice of Northeast
Indiana.
Naomi E. Hottinger, 70
Mother of Scott Schoeff of Bluffton, Naomi E. Hottinger, 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 1 at her
residence in Muncie of liver cancer.
Born Aug. 16, 1934 in Richmond to Lewis E. and Ruth Irene Byrd Wiley, she was married for
41 years to Ralph Hottinger, who survives.
A 1953 graduate of I.P. Gray High School in Jay County, she was a member of the West
Walnut Street Church of Christ in Portland and the Portland Psi Iota Xi.
She worked at Haags Drugs and Marhoefer Meat Packing Co. in Muncie. She and her husband
owned and operated Max's Auto Glass for 40 years before retiring.
Additional survivors include her mother, in Portland; sons Ron Hottinger of Muncie, Rick
Hottinger of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Randy Hottinger, Johnson City, Tenn.; daughters
Mrs. Donnie (Stephanie) Butterfield, Muncie and Mrs. Eric (Michelle) Harrell; a brother,
Gene Wiley, of Fowler; two sisters, Mrs. Bud (Carolyn) Finch, New Mt. Pleasant and Lucinda
VanSkyock, Portland; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer I. Hottinger.
Services were at 2:30 p.m. today at Garden View Funeral Home in Muncie. Calling was held
Thursday.
Burial was at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
