Marvin A. Kaehr, 88
Funeral services for Marvin A. Kaehr, 88, of Ossian will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at
Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in Ossian.
Mr. Kaehr died Thursday, Nov. 18 at his residence. He had served as a superintendent at
the Hoosier Condensary Milk Co. in Bluffton for a period of 28 years, and he also worked
for 20 years at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne as a pipe fitter.
Born July 28, 1916 in Detroit, Mich., to Reuben and Jesse Edna Lewton Kaehr, his marriage
on Jan. 1, 1942 was to Iona Madge Ludwig, who preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2001.
Mr. Kaehr was an avid fisherman and enjoyed antiques. He attended the Ossian United
Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Timothy Kaehr and Jerry Kaehr, both of Ossian, and Ronald Kaehr
of Springfield, Ohio; two brothers, Vernon Kaehr of Bluffton and Carl Kaehr of Reno, Nev.;
four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister,
Alice Kaehr and two step brothers, Gene Monticue and James Monticue.
Calling will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home
in Ossian. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian.
Preferred memorials are to the Ossian United Methodist Church.
Robert W. Sickafus, 65
Robert W. “Bob” Sickafus, 65, of Oldsmar, Fla., brother of Philip Sickafus of Uniondale,
died Thursday, Nov. 18 at Mease Hospital Countryside in Safety Harbor, Fla.
Born in Huntington, he had lived in Florida since 1985. He was retired from the U.S. Navy
after 26 years of service as a Senior Chief CTMCS. He also was a member of the Navy Fleet
Reserve in Chesapeake, Va.
In addition to the Uniondale brother, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mary E.
Sickafus, one son, Roderick Sickafus of Gates County, N.C., two daughters, Randalyn
Patrick of Virginia Beach, Va., and Renee Myers of Fort Carson, Colo.; four stepchildren,
Thomas, Paul, Diana and James; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Moss-Feaster Funeral Home and Cremation Services of North Palm Harbor, Fla., is in charge
of arrangements.
Cpl. Lance Thompson, 21
United States Marine Cpl. Lance Thompson, 21, rural Marion, was killed Nov. 15 in Ar
Ramadi, Iraq.
Born March 26, 1983 to Gregory and Melanie Reese Thompson, he was married to the former
Dawn Case in Van Buren in 2002. She currently resides in Oceanside, Calif. His parents
also survive.
He was a 2001 graduate of Eastbrook High School and had joined the Marine Corp. after
graduation. He was on his second tour of duty in Iraq when he was killed.
He has several relatives surviving in the Warren area and is also survived by three
brothers, Phillip Thompson and Matthew Dalton, both of Mooresville, and Alexander
Thompson, Marion; a step-brother, Matthew Smith, Westfield; three step-sisters, Cortney
Smith of Westfield and Katelyn and Lindsay Summers, both of Marion; paternal grandmother,
Jeanne Thompson of Ringos Mill, Ky.; maternal grandparents, Carlos (Shirley) Reese, Selma;
and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins both in Indiana and
Kentucky.
Services Monday at 11 a.m. will be held at Upland United Methodist Church with Chaplain
Ron May, U.S. Navy, and Rick Frahm officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery
in Indianapolis.
Calling hours at the church will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the Corporal Lance Thompson Scholarship Fund in care of the
Marion School Employees Credit Union.
Arrangements are in charge of Ferguson Funeral Home, Van Buren.

Carolyn Caylor Wadlington, 80
Services for Carolyn Caylor Wadlington, 80, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First
United Methodist Church in Bluffton. Ms. Wadlington died October 30 in Fort Wayne. The
family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment of
her cremains will be at Fairview Cemetery. Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.

Rites are pending at Glancy Funeral Homes H. Brown & Son Chapel in Warren for Esther
Cunningham, 93, who died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21 at Palm Gardens Nursing Home in
Ruskin, Fla.

Esther Cunningham, 93
A former resident of Wells County, Esther Cunningham, 93, died at Palm Gardens Nursing
Home, Sun City Center, Fla., Sunday, Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m.
Born in Allen County April 17, 1911 to Fred and Orpha Ott Robinson, she married Goodrich
Cunningham in Fort Wayne April 16, 1934. He preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1983.
Mrs. Cunningham lived in Wells County for 20 years and was retired from the Bluffton G.C.
Murphy store. She was a member of the Liberty Center United Methodist Church. After
leaving Wells County she lived in Fort Wayne for five years, Adams Lake for seven years
and then moved to Florida.
Survivors include a son, Philip, in Ruskin, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. John (Marjorie)
Jones, Warren, Mrs. Ralph (Marilyn) Wilt, Wolcottville, and Kay Lynn Cunningham, Ruskin,
Fla.; a brother, Vrigil Robinson of Paradise, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, three step
grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild. In
addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Carsten, and a
brother, Wayne Robinson.
Funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday will be at Glancy Funeral Homes-H. Brown & Son
Chapel, Warren. Pastor Dick Case will officiate and burial will be in Eel River Cemetery,
Churubusco.
Calling will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Christina Geurs, 78
The mother of Pierternella Geurs and Johannes Geurs, both of Ossian, Christina Geurs, 78,
of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Riverbend Healthcare Center.
Born in Gorinchem, The Netherlands, she was a nurse and served with the Red Cross during
World War II. She moved to Fort Wayne in 1957.
In addition to the daughter and son in Ossian, other survivors are her husband of 57
years, Otto C. Geurs; another daughter, Johanna Gorsuch of Webster, N.Y.; two other sons,
Otto C. Geurs Jr. of Mulberry and Gerritt Geurs of New York, N.Y.; six grandchildren,
three great grandchildren, and a brother, Gerrit Jacobs of Beusichem, The Netherlands.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 27 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral
Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service.
Preferred memorials are to the American Red Cross or the National Kidney Foundation.

Larry E. Arnold, 64
In failing health the past seven months, Larry Eugene Arnold, 64, of 4684 State Road 201
East, Bluffton, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at his residence.
A native of Wells County, Mr. Arnold retired from Franklin Electric in March of this year
after 46 years of service.
He was a 1958 graduate of Bluffton High School and an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.
He attended the First Church of Christ in Bluffton.
Born Oct. 9, 1940 in Bluffton to John and Edith Bowman Arnold, his marriage on Oct. 10,
1987 was to Betty A. Mason, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard E. Arnold of Ossian and Keith A. Arnold of Bluffton;
a daughter, Kellie J. McCart of Indianapolis; two stepsons, David L. Mason of Ossian and
Randy L. Mason of Bluffton; two stepdaughters, Joyce L. Crull of Poneto and Judy L.
Stewart of Bluffton; five grandchildren, eight step grandchildren; one great grandchild
and six step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, William Arnold of
Lafayette, Ga., and three sisters. Mrs. Gerald (Evelyn) Stammen of Fort Recovery, Ohio;
Mrs. William (Shirley) Lines of Roanoke and Mrs. Harold (Phyllis) Harness of Plum Tree.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of Christ with Pastor
Larry Sprinkle officiating and burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m.
and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to
Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
Elizabeth A. Eversole, 101
A native of Union Township in Wells County, Elizabeth A. Eversole, 101, died Monday, Nov.
22 at Markle Health Care.
Born July 21, 1903 to Elza and Victoria Hanna Brickley, her marriage on Sept. 18, 1924 was
to W. Kenneth Eversole, who preceded her in death in 1983.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Uniondale United Methodist Church where she was
involved in various church activities, including the Women’s Society. She also was active
in the Markle Order of Eastern Star and the local garden club.
Surviving are two sons, William K. Eversole of Fort Wayne and Kedric D. Eversole of Lake
Placid, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and nine
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m. Friday at the Horeb Cemetery west of
Uniondale.
Calling will be on Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2 pm. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home,
Ossian Chapel.
Preferred memorials are to Uniondale United Methodist Church.
Lindy Helen York, 85
A resident of Bluffton since 1998, Lindy Helen York, 85, of 517 South Indiana St., died at
8:22 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
A homemaker, she had previously operated Rogers Pizzeria in Flushing, Mich., for many
years.
Born March 28, 1919 in Walland, Tenn., to Aaron and Ida Murphy Burns, her marriage on May
8, 1972 in Flint, Mich, was to Kelsee York, who died June 10, 1996.
Surviving are four daughters, Mildred Marie Falk of Bluffton, Anna R. Langley of Grand
Blanc, Mich., Brenda S. Gregory of Flint and Linda Mae Wurn of Pontiac, Mich.; five sons,
Charles H. Burns of Lexington, Mich.; Billy C. Burns of Alger, Mich.; Lester A. Gregory of
Clio, Mich.; Fred E. Gregory of Mt. Morris, Mich., and Kenneth L. Gregory of Lewisburg,
Tenn.; two brothers, James E. Burns of Walland, Tenn., and Samual Burns of Sevierville,
Tenn.; 28 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
There will be no services or calling. Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be made

Louis B. Shafer, 76
Louis B. Shafer, 76, of 228 East Washington St., died this morning at his home. Calling
hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the First Church of Christ in Bluffton. A
memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church.
