Delight Wikel, 94
Arrangements are pending at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel in Montpelier for Delight
Wikel, 94, who died early this morning at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Mary Louise Morrical, 90
A resident of River Terrace Estates, Mary Louise Morrical, 90, died at 12:57 p.m. Monday,
Nov. 15 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She had been in failing health the past few
years.
Born in Blackford County Sept. 13, 1914 to James and Bertha badger Leavel, she married
Frederick Morrical Nov. 19, 1938 in Montpelier. He preceded her in death July 2, 1979.
A resident of Wells County since 1960, she formerly resided at Lancaster Apartments and
had recently moved to River Terrace. She worked for many years at the Montpelier Glove
factory and retired Sept. 13, 1977 from Kitco after 15 years of service. Active in the
First Church of Christ, she was involved in many church programs including Helping Hands,
For Others Mission Circle and Prayer and Share. She was a 1932 graduate of Montpelier
High School.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John (Carol Louise) Schreiber of Ossian and Esther
Kay Morrical, Fort Wayne.
A sister, LaFaun Leaval and an infant brother, Harold Leavel, preceded her in death.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday will be held at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral
Home under the direction of Pastor Larry Sprinkle. Burial will follow at Six Mile
Cemetery.
Calling will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to
service Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ.
Hobert Lee Purvis, 82
The father of Jim Purvis of Bluffton, Hobert Lee Purvis, 82, died Saturday, Nov. 13 at
Owingsville, Ky.
Born March 13, 1922 in Bath County, Ky., to John Tincher and Julia Purvis, he was a
farmer.
In addition to the son in Bluffton, also surviving are a daughter, Debra Richardson of
Marion; a brother, Jack Goodpaster of Sharkey, Ky., a sister, Annie Thompson of
Owingsville; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Hester Shaneyfelt, and a sister,
Abby Corey.
Funeral services were slated for 2 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home in Owingsville,
with Rev. David McCarty officiating and burial in Hedricks Cemetery.
Delight F. Wikel, 94
Delight F. Wikel, 94, of Hartford City, died at 2:35 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at Ball Memorial
Hospital in Muncie.
She was a former employee of Sheller-Globe Corp., retiring in 1972. She attended First
Baptist Church in Montpelier.
Born March 4, 1910 in Montpelier to Grover and Etta Rogers Griffith, her marriage on Nov.
6, 1926 in Montpelier was to Ralph James Wikel, who preceded her in death on Nov. 14,
1978.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. George (Esther) Black of Anderson; a son, Robert J. Wikel
of Fort Wayne; a sister, Jean Ellen Hoskins of Albany; four grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Kinder, five brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Montpelier with
Pastor Doug Askew officiating. There will be no calling hours. Glancy Funeral Homes,
Walker Chapel in Montpelier is handling arrangements.
Sherman Gilbert Trout, 100 — Pending Sherman Gilbert Trout, 100, died at 2:37 a.m. today
at Bradner Village Health Care Center in Marion. Rites are pending at Glancy Funeral
Homes - H. Brown & Son Chapel in Warren.
Burley R. “Muggs” Hough Sr., 71
A resident of rural Bryant, Burley R. “Muggs” Hough Sr., 71, died Friday, Nov.12 at his
residence following an illness of several months.
Born Oct. 20, 1933 in Bryant to Rev. Burley A.D. and Hilda M. Kessler Hough, his first
marriage in 1956 was to Corinne Doolan who died in 1959. He married Joyce E. Wygant, who
survives, on Nov. 3, 1961.
He was a lifetime farmer in Bearcreek Twp., Jay County, and also was a quarryman first at
the Karch Company and later at Meshberger’s of Linn Grove. He retired in September of this
year.
He was a member of the Bluffton Wesleyan Chapel.
In addition to the wife, surviving are two sons, Burley R. Hough Jr. of Geneva and
Matthew P. Hough of Bryant; three daughters, Rebecca A. Bisel Hough of Bryant; Mrs. Harvey
(Faith M.) Hooten of Geneva and Mrs. Michael (Bonnie Y.) Carpenter of Union City.
Also surviving are five brothers, Robert, John and Joseph Hough, all of rural Bryant,
Thomas Hough of rural Geneva and Lonnie Hough of Indianapolis; three sisters, Bernice
Teeple, Mrs. Homer (Caroline) Jones and Mrs. Stanley (Carolyn) Wittwer, all of rural
Bryant, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Hough.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Portland Chapel of the Williamson &
Spencer Funeral Home. Pastors Chad Clark and Arthur Page will officiate and burial will
follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery west of Bryant.
Calling at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and prior to service time on
Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.

D. Michael Cook, 48
An equipment operator since 1974, D. Michael Cook, 48, of Uniondale, died at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at his home. Death was sudden and unexpected with cause
unknown.
A Wells County resident since 1959, he was born January 18, 1956, in Daisy, Arkansas to J.
E. and Barbara N. Jones Cook. His father died in 1995. His mother survives at Uniondale.
He was a 1974 graduate of Norwell High School.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are a daughter, Jennifer Cook, and a son, Jason Cook,
both of Bluffton; a brother, Mitchell Cook of Loveland, Colorado, and a sister, Mrs. Brian
(Cathy) Noble of Bluffton.
Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to services on Saturday at
Thoma-Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday with Pastor Troy Drayer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Gideons or Uniondale United Methodist Church.
Thomas L. Hiatt, 79
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton for Thomas
L. Hiatt, 79, of Vista, Calif.
Mr. Hiatt, a Bluffton native and decorated veteran of World War II, died at his home on
Sept. 23, 2004.
Born Dec. 22, 1924, he was a son of Edward S. and Theresa A. Irey Hiatt. His marriage was
to Jane Summers Hamilton, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 in World War II, earning the Distinguished
Flying Cross and a Gold Star in lieu of a second Distinguished Flying Cross award. Also he
received the Navy Air Medal and a Gold Star in lieu of the second and third air medals.
Mr. Hiatt was a civil engineer with C.F. Braun Co. for 30 years.
Surviving in addition to the wife, are a brother, Dr. William Hiatt of Germantown, Wis.,
and a sister, Rebecca Powell of Goodhue, Minnesota. Another sister, June Keisler, died in
2004.
The American Legion Chaplain will preside at the graveside service. Arrangements are by
Goodwin Memorial Chapel.
Sherman Gilbert Trout, 100
A farmer in Huntington County for 60 years and a retired Dana Corporation employee at
Marion, Sherman Gilbert Trout, 100, of Kokomo died at 2:37 p.m.Tuesday, November 16, 2004,
at the Bradner Village Health Care Center in Marion.
Mr. Trout was employed at Crosley Motors in Marion from 1946 to 1952 prior to working at
Dana there from 1952 to retirement in 1969.
Born August 28,1904, in Huntington County, he was a son of John M. and Lana Roberts Trout.
His marriage was on Sept 24, 1927, in Huntington County to Velma A. Rinearson, who died
Feb. 10, 1972.
Surviving are two sisters, June Shideler of Huntington and Ruth Sailors of Marion; four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Phyllis Ann Trout and Wanda McKellar; one
brother, Dale Trout, and two sisters, Ruby Butler and Etta Noble.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m.Thursday and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at Glancy Funeral
Homes-H. Brown & Son Chapel, Warren, where services will be at 10 a.m. Friday with
elder Robert Caudill presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Etna Cemetery. Memorials to the
American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
Lorene Wanner — Rites Pending
The mother of Dr. Loren Wanner of Bluffton, Lorene Wanner, 84, of rural Linn Grove died
this morning at her home.
Arrangments are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne.

Peter C. Hitzeman, 90
Ossian resident Peter C. Hitzeman, 90, died at his residence Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Born Aug. 7, 1914 in Allen County to Christ and Christina Westfall Hitzeman, he married
the former Gertrude A. Springer at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church near Yoder Sept. 3, 1939.
She preceded him in death Sept. 12, 2001.
He owned and operated Hitzeman Construction from 1966 to 1980 and retired from the May
Stone & Sand Corp. in 1973 after 29 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark’s.
Survivors include one son, Gary, of Ossian, three daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Diane S.) Shutt of
Uniondale, and Mrs. Bart (Janice K.) Blum and Mrs. Larry (Colleen A.) Bulmahn, both of
Decatur; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren and four step
great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, a sister and a step great grandson preceded him in death.
Services at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with burial to
follow in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday at the church and
one hour prior to services Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Worship for Shut-Ins, St. John’s Lutheran School, St. Mark
Lutheran Church Yoder or Wyneken Lutheran School. Arrangements are in charge of
Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home of Ossian.
Clara M. Fiechter, 86
Clara M. Fiechter, 86, rural Craigville, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at her
residence.
Born Dec. 28, 1917 in Adams County, to Emil and Lilly Fiesley Schladenhauffen, she married
Homer H. Fiechter in Bluffton Aug. 6, 1944. He survives.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
Additional survivors include two sons, Kent of rural Craigville, and Ray of Noblesville; a
daughter, Mrs. Alan (Sheryl) Ringger, Bluffton; three brothers, Everett and Harold
Schladenhauffen, both of Bluffton, and Warren Schladenhauffen of Garrett; nine
grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Amos, Charles and Sam Schladenhauffen and sisters
Esther Aschliman and Edith Stultz.
Services at at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will be held at Apostolic Christian Church East with
ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 1-8 p.m. Friday will be held at Goodwin Memorial
Chapel. Calling will also be held one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Alma Marie Bennett, 94
A former teacher in the Bluffton-Harrison School system, Alma Marie Musselman Bennett, 94,
of Noblesville, died at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Born in Hamilton County July 25, 1910 to Ola and Jessie Males Mussleman, she married
Robert E. Bennett Dec. 31, 1944. He preceded her in death. He also was a teacher in the
Bluffton-Harrison Schools for a long period of time. She was a member of the Bluffton Book
Club.
Two sisters and a brother, all of Noblesville, survive. Three brothers and a sister
preceded her in death.
Services at 10 a.m. Saturday will be at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville
with calling at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Lorene Wanner, 84
Mother of Dr. Loren Wanner of Bluffton, Lorene Wanner, 84, of rural Linn Grove, died at
1:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at her residence.
Born May 31, 1920 in Adams County to Albert and Lydia Yoder Steiner, she married Kenneth
Wanner March 29, 1941 in Adams County. He survives.
She was a homemaker and active in the children’s department and other church activities at
West Missionary Church near Berne.
In addition to the son in Bluffton, she is survived by a second son, Rev. Max Wanner, Fort
Wayne; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne; a sister, Luella Moeschberger, and a grandson,
Austin Wanner.
Services at 7 p.m. Monday will be held at West Missionary Church under the direction of
Rev. Keith Rupp. Burial will be in M.R.E. Cemetery west of Berne.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and
from 5 p.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the church or to Swiss Village.

Marvin A. Kaehr, 88, of Ossian died Thursday, Nov. 18 at his residence. Rites are pending
at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in Ossian.
