Joyce Lorraine Doornbos, 67
A Bluffton resident for the past 10 years, Joyce Lorraine (Bonnema) Doornbos, 67, of State
Road 124 east of Bluffton, died at home at 5:24 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2005.
A native of Portage, Michigan, she graduated from Portage High School in 1956. She enjoyed
seasonal employment for her cousins in their family-owned greenhouse. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church in Bluffton.
Born July 2, 1938, she was a daughter of William and Anne Kiel Bonnema. Her marriage was
on Nov. 27, 1957, in Portage, Michigan to Carl L. Doornbos, who survives. Also surviving
are three daughters, Mrs. Dan (Julie) Hurne of Columbia City, Cindy Doornbos of Sault Ste.
Marie, Michigan, and Tammy Doornbos of Bluffton; two brothers, John and Donald Bonnema,
both of Portage, Michigan; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Walters, and by two brothers, William and Marvin
Bonnema.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thoma-Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral
Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Bud
Abrams presiding. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials to First Baptist Church
Handicap Lift Project or Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
Donald E. Bell, 71
An employee of Huntington Ready-Mix in the sales department and as a driver, Donald E.
“Don” Bell, 71, of Andrews, formerly of Roanoke, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 5,
2005, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
He was a 1952 graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and served in the Air
Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Huntington Moose Lodge and was a
member of the Central Christian Church, where he served as a deacon.
Born Aug. 9, 1933, in Indianapolis, he was a son of Charles W. and Pearl E. Birely Bell.
He was married on Jan. 21, 1961 in Louisville,Ky., to Donna Kempster, who died May
19,1966. His marriage on Aug. 23, 1967, at Central Christian Church in Huntington was to
Virginia “Ginny” Ross, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Russ Bell of waterloo, and Rich Bell of Warren; a daughter,
Mrs. Stephan (Karen) Jeffers of Markle, two brothers Charles Bell Jr. of Rockville, Ind.,
and Robert Bell of Shelbyville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by two brothers, Emerson and Lloyd Bell, and three sisters, Josephine
Rice, Mary Ellen Huber and Alice Edington.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington
Chapel, and one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday. The funeral service will
be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Central Christian Church, Huntington, with Dr. Samuel K. Young
officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington. Memorials to Parkview
Huntington Hospital Hospice Program or Central Christian Church Choir Fund c/o the funeral
home.
Doris C. Taylor, 86
Retired as a keypunch operator for General Electric after 15 years, Doris C. Taylor, 86,
of Ossian, died at Englewood Health & Rehabilitation Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005. She was a
member of Eastern Star Emerald Chapter at Ossian.
Born June 3, 1919, at Zanesville, she was a daughter of John C. and Zola L. Platt Jacobs.
Her marriage was on April 4, 1942, at Terre Haute to Dale C. Taylor, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Karen) Gerbers of Markle, a brother, L. D.
“Bud” Jacobs of Fort Wayne, five grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter, 10
great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Marlene Taylor of Ossian. She was preceded in
death by a son, Larry Taylor, and by other siblings.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.Tuesday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral
Home, Ossian, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev.Tim Dilley
officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorials to donor’s choice or the
Ossian United Methodist Church.
Ronnie D. Hawk, 59
An employee of F.C.C. Incorporated Automotive in Portland, formerly with Delaware Machine
& Tool for 18 years and the Hartford City Police Department for 11 years, Ronnie D.
Hawk, 59, of Hartford City, died at 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at his residence.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Montpelier Jaycees
and the Fraternal Order of Police. An avid stamp collector, a Little League coach and an
ISHAA basketball official, he also had helped on the Deer Creek Conservation grant.
Born Aug. 2, 1946, in Wells County, he was a son of Orval and Grace Fetty Hawk. His mother
survives at Montpelier. His marriage was on March 13, 1971, in Pennville to Mary Wheeler,
who survives. He was a 1964 graduate of Montpelier High School and a former member of the
First Nazarene Church, Montpelier.
Surviving in addition to the wife and mother are two daughters, Mrs. Chris (Rebecca Marie)
Cavanaugh and Mrs. Larry (Jennifer) Strait, both of Hartford City; two sons, Erik and
Kristopher Hawk, both of Hartford City; two brothers, Bill Hawk of Gas City and Dick Hawk
of Hartford City, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers,
Robert, Gene and Gerald Hawk.
Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker
Chapel, Montpelier, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Garden
of Memory at Muncie. Memorials to the Blackford County Heart Association.

Halden R. “Bud” Greene, 87
A painter at International Harvester, where he retired in 1974, Halden R. “Bud” Greene,
87, of Markle, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at Markle Health Care, Markle.
He was a 1937 graduate of Ossian High School. He was a member of the Markle United
Methodist Church and the Markle Fish & Game Club. He served in the U.S. Army from
1942-1945 as a sergeant in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II and received
the Purple Heart.
Born May 19, 1918, in Kingsland, he was a son of Homer W. and Garnett G. Richards Greene.
His marriage was on March 15, 1941, in Huntington to Dorma C. Folk, who preceded him in
death on Feb. 20, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald L. Greene of Markle and David L. Greene of Fort Wayne; nine
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde
Greene, and three sisters, Mid Lowman, Vadis Kahn and Alice West.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Myers Funeral Home,
Markle Chapel, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Kaye Patton
officiating. Interment will be in Markle Cemetery. Memorials to Markle United Methodist
Church or the Markle Fish & Game Club.

Vera R. Rudy, 94
A resident of the Christian Care Retirement Community, Vera R. Rudy, 94, died at Bluffton
Regional Medical Center Monday, Aug. 8, at 8:57 a.m.
Born in Berne May 13, 1911, to Simon and Caroline Hofstetter Neuenschwander, she married
Earl F. Rudy April 10, 1937 in Vera Cruz. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1991.
A member of the First United Methodist Church of Bluffton, she was a 1929 graduate of
Bluffton High School. She worked for seven years for Lincoln National Life Insurance Co.
and worked with her husband Earl in the Migro Seed Co. business for over 16 years. She was
also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Methodist Church Choir, the Methodist
Bellaires and a member of the Home Forum Club.
She also held memberships in Psi Iota Xi, the Bayview Reading Club and was a volunteer at
Caylor-Nickel Clinic for many years. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Don B. Rudy of Glencoe, Minn.; two daughters, Carolyn Brill
of Indianapolis and Mrs. Ron (Rebecca) Rusling of Prescott, Ariz.; a brother, Robert
Reusser of Wells County; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a sister, Edna Alexander and brothers George Reusser and
Virgil, Don and Kenneth Neuenschwander.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will be under the direction of Rev. Cindy Osgood at the
First United Methodist Church. Calling will be held one hour prior to services at the
church. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Calling will also be held Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney
Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Earl F. and Vera R. Rudy Youth Enhancement Endowment Fund.
Ida Aschliman, 90
Ida Aschliman, 90, a resident of Christian Care Retirement Community, died at 10:30 a.m.
Monday, Aug. 8, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Born in Adams County July 5, 1915 to Emmanuel and Anna Neuenschwander Gerber, she married
Roy E. Aschliman in Wells County Jan. 7, 1945. He preceded her in death July 9, 2002.
A housewife, she was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
Survivors include sons David and Ralph Aschliman, both of Bluffton; daughters Mrs. Steve
(Arlene) Stump and Mrs. Stan (Delilah) Biberstein, both of Decatur; 20 grandchildren and
31 great-grandchildren.
Twelve siblings preceded her in death.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be at the Apostolic Christian Church East with
calling one hour prior to services. Ministers of the church will officiate and burial will
follow at the church cemetery.
Calling will also be held until 8 p.m. this evening at Goodwin Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Care Retirement Community.
Paul B. Archbold, 83
Paul B. Archbold, 83, of rural Ossian, died at Bluffton Regional Medical Center Monday,
Aug. 8.
Born April 30, 1922 in Wells County to Marvin and Iva Woods Archbold, his marriage to the
former Vera M. Christlieb took place Feb. 15, 1946 in Lebanon. She survives.
An interior decorator for 20 years, he was also a farmer and mail carrier for 25 years. He
was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Grover Sheets
American Legion Post 111.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ted, of Ossian; a daughter, Mrs. Tom
(Vicki) Brown of Ossian; a brother, Glen Archbold of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Services at 11 a.m. Thursday will be under the direction of Rev. Chad Finney at
Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, Ossian.
Calling will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services
Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Caylor-Nickel Foundation or to Riley Children’s Hospital.

Dallas Ray Emberlin, 85
Former Bluffton resident Dallas Ray Emberlin, 85, of Fort Wayne died Saturday, August 6,
2005, at Parkview Hospital.
He was retired from General Electric, where he had been employed for 39 years and had
received the Large Machine Design Award. A graduate of Fort Wayne Central High School as
class valedictorian, he toured during young years with the Paul Whitman Band as their
drummer. Mr. Emberlin served in the Navy on the USS Fabius during World War II.
Born July 17, 1920, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Delphos and Georgia Sloan Emberlin.
Surviving are two daughters, Sherri Bailey of Fort Wayne and Vickie Workman of Auburn; a
sister, Margie Larenz of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Joe Emberlin of Arizona and William
Emberlin of California; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and longtime
companion Esther Niblick of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgianna; three brothers, Delphos (his twin) and
Chuck and Jerry Emberlin; a sister, Marian Dirrim; a granddaughter, Michelle Bailey, and a
grandson, Chad Workman.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home in
Fort Wayne, where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday with Rev. David Croucher
officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton. Memorials to American Diabetes
Association.

Roland ‘Ron’ Pearson, 82
Former owner of the Keystone Corner Store in Keystone, Roland “Ron” Pearson, 82, of Upland
died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at University Nursing Center in Upland.
Mr. Pearson served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the
Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156 at Montpelier. He served on the post’s firing
squad for many years.
Born Dec. 24, 1922, in Blackford County, he was a son of John and Sarah Doragh Pearson. A
graduate of Chester Center High School, he was a former resident of Geneva, Keystone and
Montpelier, and was a member of Geneva United Methodist Church.
His marriage on Sept. 7, 1947 at Keystone was to Annalou Dale, who preceded him in death
on Aug. 2, 1984.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gwyn (Elizabeth Ann) Edwards of Newark, Del.; two sons,
Jeffery Pearson of Saint Augustine, Fla., and Steven Pearson of Elkton, Md.; a sister,
Carolyn Morris of Decatur; three brothers, Alfred Pearson of Bluffton, Donald Pearson of
Warren and William Pearson of Marion; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Hanson, and a brother, David Pearson.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glancy Funeral Homes - Walker Chapel in Montpelier,
where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Rich Hadley officiating. Burial
will be at Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier. Millard-Brown American Legion Post #156 is
in charge of military rites.
Preferred memorials are to the Millard-Brown American Legion Firing Squad.

Robert K. Reimschisel, 68
A 34-year former employee of Isch Gas, Robert K. Reimschisel, 68, of Bluffton, died
Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
A 1956 graduate of Ossian High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He
was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
In addition to his longtime service at Isch Gas, he also worked four years for Pretzels
Inc. and 12 years as a part-time delivery driver for Pizza King.
Born April 5, 1937 in Wells County to David and Marjorie Langel Reimschisel, his marriage
in Bluffton on Nov. 24, 1963, was to Louise Fiechter, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. David (Jacqueline) Noder of McNabb, Ill.; two
sons, Kirt of Smyrna, Ga., and Kraig of Rome, Ga.; four brothers, John of Horse Shoe Bend,
Ark., Roger of Andover, Kan., Max of Towanda, Kan., and Jim of New Haven; three
grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
A brother, Dale, preceded him in death.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Goodwin Memorial
Chapel.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Apostolic Christian Church East, with calling at
the church one hour before services. Ministers of the church will officiate.
Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana or the National Leukemia
Association.
Robert A. Fuller, 55
A longtime Keystone resident, Robert A. Fuller, 55, of Maryville, Tenn., died Thursday,
Aug. 4, 2005, at the family home.
Mr. Fuller was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church. He was a
former employee of Franklin Electric Co. in Bluffton.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; his mother, Helen Fuller; a son, Gary, of Atlanta;
four daughters, Mrs. Shane (Rhonda) Bowen, Mrs. Daniel (Kelly) West, Mrs. Chad (Kristy)
Reece, and Melissa Fuller; and a sister, Pamela.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Leon Fuller, and an infant brother.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at Trinity Baptist Church in Huntsville, Tenn.,
with Rev. Dilbert Terry officiating. Burial was at West Miller’s Cove cemetery.
James B. Studabaker, 57
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday for James B. Studabaker, 57, of Bluffton,
who died Aug. 4, 2005, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Services will be at Six Mile Cemetery. Grover Sheets American Legion Post 111 will be in
charge of the services, with Larry Sprinkle officiating.
Goodwin Memorial Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Memorials to Family
Hospice of Northeast Indiana can be made in care of the funeral home.

Robert E. Barnes, 77
A former Bluffton resident, Robert E. Barnes, 77, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Saturday,
Aug. 6, 2005, at St. Petersburg.
Mr. Barnes, a sales executive in the electronics industry, was a Bluffton High School
graduate. He attended Purdue University and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of
the Elks Lodge and American Legion Post 111.
He was born Sept. 26, 1927 in Bluffton to Charles and Thelma Robison Barnes. His marriage
Jan. 31, 1953, in Warren was to Mary Eltzroth, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Andrea Brent Barnes of Linthicum, Md.; two sons, J.
Bradford Barnes of California and Ryan K. Barnes of Summit, N.J.; a sister, Gertrude
Monroe of Bluffton; a brother, Richard Barnes of Fort Wayne; and three grandchildren.
No services or visitation are planned.
