Mae Irene Engle, 89
Mae Irene (East) Engle, 89, died at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 at the Bluffton Regional
Medical Center. She had been a resident of Meadowvale Health & Rehabilitation Center
the past three years.
Born on June 18, 1916 in Elida, Ohio to Samuel C. and Amy Ziller East, she married Ivan A.
Engle on June 24, 1939 in Fort Wayne; he died in 1998.
A 1934 graduate of North Side High School in Fort Wayne, she was a homemaker and also
worked at Horton Manufacturing prior to marriage. She lived most of her life in Fort Wayne
and Crooked Lake, Angola. She was previously a member of the Bethany Circle Ladies Group,
a member of the Ladies Guild at the Lake Gage Congregational Church, and also attended
activities with the Steuben County Council on Aging.
Survivors include a son, Dean Engle of Bluffton; two daughters, Mrs. John (Carol)
Hollinger of Fishers and Mrs. Craig (Barbara) Halsey of Angola; five grandchildren; and
three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herber East, and a sister, Ruth Shasha.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Bluffton, with
Rev. Walter Graeflin and Rev. Stephen Altman officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday from
4 to 8 p.m. at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the
service Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to the Lake
Gage Congregational Church, Steuben County Council on Aging, or to Meadowvale Care
Center.
Richard E. Davidson, 61
Richard E. “Dick” Davidson, 61, died Saturday, Nov. 5 in Marion, after an extended
illness.
Born May 15, 1944 in Wells County to Thomas and Nondus Coin Davidson, he was a graduate of
Chester Center High School. He was an automotive technician in the Fort Wayne area for
many years, residing the past few years in Albuquerque, N.M.
Surviving are four children, Steve, Mike, Jeremy and Jennifer Davidson, all of Fort Wayne;
two sisters, Joanne Wentz of Marion and Peggy Dick of Decatur; two brothers, Jim Davidson
of Henderson, N.C. and Bill Davidson of Poneto; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Davidson.
Arrangements were handled by Armes and Hunt Funeral Home, Fairmount.
Richard M. Reed, 84 - Rites Pending
Arrangements are pending at Goodwin Memorial Chapel for Richard M. Reed, 84, who passed
away at 6 a.m. this morning at his home.

Richard M. Reed, 84, Bluffton, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at his home.
Born in Wise, County, Va. on Nov. 9, 1920 to Ed and Nora McDavid Reed, he married Hazel
Satterfield in Bluffton on Sept. 19, 1975; she survives.
A U.S. Army veteran during World War II, he retired from Franklin Electric in 1985 after
30 years as a tool and die maker. He also owned a small engine repair shop, retiring from
that in 1975. He was a member of the American Legion Post 111.
Other survivors include a step-son, Joseph B. Melton of Poneto; a step-daughter, Mrs.
Robert (Cynthia) Risser of Bluffton; a half-brother, Jr. Reed of Columbus, Ohio; and four
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and one grandchild.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton.
Services will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Andrew Street and Rev. James
Alley officiating.
Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery; graveside military rites will be conducted by the
American Legion.
Esther A. Werling, 73
Esther A. Werling, 73, Ossian, died at 12 noon Tuesday, Nov. 8 of injuries resulting from
a single-car accident on CR 450E, one mile north of her home.
Born in Fort Wayne on April 8, 1932 to John and Wilhelmina Ohlendorf Dunker, she married
Wayne E. Werling on Oct. 23, 1954 in Fort Wayne; he survives.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she sang in the
choir. She was a past member of the Lutheran Chorale.
Other survivors include a son, Erik Werling, of Ossian; a sister, Evelyn Hoham of Fort
Wayne; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ossian with
Rev. William Brege officiating. Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. at
the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and for one hour prior to the services
Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the church.
Dixie L. Pierce, 50
Dixie Lynne Pierce, 50, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Ossian Health Care.
Born in Chandler, Ariz. on Dec. 22, 1954, to Edward and Loma D. Ray Pierce, she was a
member of Faith Baptist Church in Berne.
Survivors include two sisters, Jill Miller of Bluffton and Cheryl Pierce of Huntertown;
and a brother, Rodney Pierce of Bluffton.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton with Rev.
Travis Combest officiating. Calling hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the church, Visiting Hospice & Home or New Hope Hospice.

Maj. Ryan N. Roberson — Rites Pending
Rites are pending at Goodwin Memorial Chapel for Major Ryan N. Roberson, 36, who died
suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Leavenworth, Kansas. Maj. Roberson, who was serving with the
U.S. Army, is a grandson of Ruth Luginbill of Bluffton.

Major Ryan Roberson, 36
A Bluffton native and former resident, Major Ryan Neil Roberson, 36, died at his residence
in Leavenworth, Kan. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Born on August 10, 1969 in Bluffton to Raymond and Judith Ann Luginbill Roberson, he
attended Bluffton and Norwell schools until 1984. He was a 1988 graduate of Eisenhour High
School in Texas and a 1994 graduate of the West Point Military Academy. He entered the
military academy on June 29, 1988. He was an officer with the U.S. Army Military Police,
serving at Fort Leavenworth.
Survivors include his parents, living in Houston, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Matt (Elsie)
Haney of Brooktondale, N.Y. and Mrs. Todd (LeAnn) Henderson of Justin, Texas; two
brothers, Chris Roberson of Roosevelt, Utah and Tim Roberson of Houston; a grandmother,
Ruth Luginbill of Bluffton; and grandparents Phil and Bertha Roberson of Fort Wayne.
Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services
will be held there Monday at 2 p.m. with David Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery. The United States Military Honor Guard will be in
charge of all military rights and services.

Conner, who died at 11:42 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Three-day-old daughter of Timothy and Malisa Raugh Conner of Berne, Abigail Sue Conner
died at 11:42 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Additional surviviors include two brothers, Cody and Gage; a sister, Jayla; paternal
grandfather Mike Conner of Bluffton; paternal grandparents Dave and Jane Haworth of Berne;
maternal grandparents Eric and Sue Scherrer of Geneva; paternal great-grandmother Patricia
Conner of Bluffton and maternal great-grandparents Gene and Dorothy Spice of Berne.
Calling Monday from 9 a.m. to time of services at 1 p.m. will be at Downing & Glancy
Funeral Home, Geneva. Burial will follow in M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Patty Lou Johnson, 71 — Rites Pending
Patty Lou Johnson, 71, of Bluffton died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Lutheran
Hospital in Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney
Funeral Home.
Mary A. Williamson, 83
Mary A. Williamson, 83, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at her residence in
Warren.
A homemaker, Mrs. Williamson also had worked at Shuttleworth's Canning Factory in
Warren for 20 years. She attended Warren High School.
She was born July 2, 1922, in Mount Etna to Ernest and Edna (Harrett) Searles. Her
marriage in Uniondale on May 10, 1941, was to Claude Williamson, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Melinda R. Reece of Warren; two grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Francis I. Williamson; three sisters, Irene Book,
Harrett Souderquist and Martha Rittenhouse; and two brothers, Russell Searles and Francis
Searles.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Glancy Funeral Homes - H. Brown & Son
Chapel, Warren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Keen officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren.

Patty Lou Johnson, 71, of Bluffton, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 at Lutheran
Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Bluffton on June 11, 1934 to Hugh and Leona Brown Miller, she married James
Johnson in Bluffton in 1952; he survives. She was retired from the Kitco Company.
Other survivors include five children, Jeff Johnson of Columbia City, Cathy Doublin of
Bluffton, Shirley Johnson of Tucson, Ariz., Rhonda Johnson of Bluffton, and Kevin S.
Johnson of Uniondale; two sisters, Diane Elzey and Shirley Sommers, both of Bluffton; 17
grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James
“Jimmy” Johnson; a sister, Joyce Miller; and three brothers, Bobby Gene, Marvin and Doyle
Miller.
Services will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral
Home with Pastor Bud Abrams officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 6
p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the National Kidney Foundation.
Anna L. Siler, 80
Anna L. Siler, 80, Bluffton, died Thursday, Nov. 10 at Meadowvale Health &
Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 25, 1925 in Wheeling, W. Va., she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Wilbur Siler, on July 12, 1988.
There will be no services. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian. Arrangements
were handled by Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home in Ossian.
