Jeff H. Gordon, 50
A 1973 graduate of Norwell High School, Jeff H. Gordon, 50, New Haven, died at 9 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 16 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Huntington County on August 23, 1955 to Arthur L. and Medonna Mae Williams Gordon,
he married Angela Lorene Roop on Dec. 17, 1973. He was a self-employed painter, operating
Gordon's Painting in Fort Wayne.
Survivors include his father of North Carolina; a daughter, Sarah Stuckey of Fort Wayne; a
son, Jon Gordon of New Haven; two sisters, Tammy Gordon of North Carolina and Terrie
Gordon of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Tim Gordon of Florida and Robin Parker of Fort Wayne;
and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother; his wife; a brother, Arthur Gordon and a sister,
Jean Ann Poulson.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel in Bluffton.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Friends Cemetery in Rockford
with Laura Sherwood officiating.
Preferred memorials are to the family in care of Goodwin Memorial Chapel.

Dr. Robert L. Boze, 79
A retired 45-year medical doctor in Berne, Robert L. Boze, 79, died at 5:25 p.m. Monday,
Oct. 17, 2005, in a Jay County woods while hunting, one of his life avocations in
addition to aviation and woodworking.
Recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash honor from the late Governor Frank O’Bannon, Dr.
Boze and his wife, Phoebe, also had served for a year as medical missionaries in Central
Africa Republic. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an Air Corps pilot. He
served 14 years on the trustee board of Grace College, was an active member of the Bethel
Brethren Church and taught Sunday School for 45 years.
Born Dec. 20, 1925 in Adams County, he was the son of Rufus A. and Flora A. Runyon Boze.
His marriage was on Aug. 9, 1953, in Bluffton to Phoebe Buel, who survives. Also surviving
are two sons, Jeffrey Boze of Berne and Michael Boze of Winona Lake; one sister, Lucille
Hunt of Union Town, Pa., and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son,
Timothy, and three sisters, Marjorie Decker, Rosemary Jellison and Alene Mosser.
Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home and Saturday for
one hour prior to services at the church. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at
Bethel Brethren Church with Rev. Joe Nass officiating. Burial will be in M.R.E. Cemetery,
Berne. Memorials to Grace Brethren International Missions.
Patrick J. Edwards, 51
Patrick J. Edwards, 51, of Geneva, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at his
residence.
Born Sept. 13, 1954 in Trenton, Mich., he was a son of William A. and Madeline Willems
Edwards. His father is deceased. His mother survives in Southgate, Mich. Also surviving
are two sons, Michael Edwards of Wayne County, Mich., and Adam Edwards of Hartford City;
five brothers, Dennis Edwards of Georgia, and Ronald, David, Christopher and Robert
Edwards, all of Michigan; four sisters, Marlene Brainerd, Maureen Hawes and Michelle
Hofstetter, all three of Indiana, and Marcia Bennett of Michigan, and two grandchildren. A
son, Timothy Edwards, is deceased.
There will be no calling. Services will be at a later date with the family in Michigan,
with burial at a later date. Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, Geneva, is in charge of
arrangements.
Archie M. Fraze, 84
Father of Betty S. Baker of Bluffton, Archie M. Fraze, 84, of Noblesville, died Monday,
Oct. 17, 2005, at his residence. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member
of American Legion Post 45 and VFW Post 6246, both in Noblesville, the 40 and 8, and
Refuge Christian Church. He was part owner and vice president of RGF Manufacturing in
Elwood until retirement in 1983.
Born Feb. 23, 1921, in Nelson County, Kentucky, he was a son of Shelley and Mary Ball
Fraze.
Surviving, in addition to the Bluffton daughter, is his wife of 62 years, Virginia
Florence Fraze; a son, Timothy J. Fraze of Noblesville; another daughter, Beth Ann Bentley
of Fishers; a brother, Robert Fraze of Oklahoma; a sister, Marie Reed of Cicero; three
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A brother, James Fraze, is deceased.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday
at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, Noblesville, where services will be at 12 noon
Thursday with Rev. Stanley R. Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Crownland Cemetery.

Ora K. McClurg, 84
A Huntington County Commissioner from 1959 to 1961, a salesman for Prestress Service and a
lifetime farmer, Ora K. McClurg, 84, of Huntington and Wells County, died at 6:50 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at Markle Health Care Nursing Center in Markle.
He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ, Markle Lodge 453 F&AM, the Farmers
Union and Farm Bureau.
Born Oct. 24, 1920, in Huntington County, he was a son of Jesse Albert and Zola Enid Day
McClurg. His marriage was on April 18, 1948, in Williams County, Ohio, to Frances L.
Bickel, who preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 1983.
Surviving are a son, Dee W. McClurg of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Ruth Ann) Samuel
of Portage, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Eldon (Evlyn) Parks of Bloomington, Ill.; two brothers,
Ira R. McClurg of Wabash and Max R. McClurg of Portland, and two grandsons. A sister, Enid
Lehman, and a brother, Roy McClurg, are deceased.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, where
services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday with Gerald O. Moreland officiating. Interment will be
in Sparks Cemetery in Wells County. Memorials to the Markle Fish & Game Club in care
of the funeral home.
Norval J. Eller, 80
Norval J. Eller, 80, Huntington, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Lutheran Hospital in
Fort Wayne.
Born in Sweetser on May 18, 1925 to Kenneth and Bessie Eller, he married Martha Jane
Boyer, who is from Rockcreek Township in Wells County, on Sept. 20, 1945; she survives.
Mr. Eller retired from Indiana Gas Company in 1987 after 37 years of service.
Other survivors include three sons, Terry Eller of Spokane, Wash., Donavon Eller of
Huntington, and Kevin Eller of Mt. Etna; two sisters, Ruth Stone of Anderson and Virginia
Searles of Huntington; a brother, Wayne Eller of Anderson; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home in Huntington, with
services there Monday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Gene Vickery officiating. Interment will be
at the Gardens of Memory in Huntington County.
Cory Atkinson, 35
The brother of Mrs. Shawn (Michele) Gearheart of Montpelier, Robert Cory Atkinson, 35,
Hartford City, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Hartford City.
Born in Sarasota, Fla. on June 6, 1970, he was a 1988 graduate of Blackford County High
School and attended Ivy Tech. He was a painter and attended Hartford City Wesleyan
Church.
Other survivors include his parents, Robert and Daphne Atkinson of Hartford City; two
sons, Kaleb and James Atkinson of Oakdale, Tenn.; and another sister, Mrs. David (Heather)
Overmyer of Fort Wayne.
Services will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the Keplinger Funeral Home in Hartford City.
Calling hours are Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. The cremains will be
interred in the Atkinson Family lot at the Hartford City Cemetery. Preferred memorials are
to the Kaleb D. and James R. Atkinson Scholarship Fund.

Mary Della "Dell" Cochran, 83
Mary Della "Dell" Cochran, 83, of Decatur died Thursday, Oct. 20 at Woodcrest
Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 29, 1921 in Loretta, Ky., to Alfred and Nellie Captain Krummen, her marriage on
Feb. 7, 1940 was to Don H. Cochran, who died Sept. 8, 2003.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and the UMC
Builders Sunday School Class, Shalom Circle and Crescent Chapter 48 of the Order of
Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Don Mark Cochran of Simpsonville, S.C., a daughter, Mrs. Sheldon
(Elaine) Light of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Arlin Krummen and a sister, Vera Millikan.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur
with Rev. Jeff Taylor and Rev. Fuhrman Miller officiating. Burial will be in Six Mile
Cemetery at Bluffton.
Calling at the funeral home will be Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's
Foundation.
Kevin A. Foster, 40
Kevin A. Foster, 40, died unexpectedly in Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 25, 2005. Born in Los
Angeles, Calif., Oct. 31, 1964, he was employed in the food service business for many
years in the Orlando area.
He is survived by his father, James W. Foster of Fort Wayne and his longtime partner,
Joseph Bollero of Orlando.
A memorial service was held in Orlando prior to cremation. Private interment will follow
at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton in the near future. Preferred memorials to the American
Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Arrangements are by Thoma-Rich, Hewitt & Chaney
Funeral Home.

Paul E. Couch, 80
A longtime farmer in Wells and Huntington Counties and an electrical contractor, Paul E.
Couch, 80, of rural Warren, died at 4:05 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Warren United
Methodist Memorial Home.
He was a member of the Wells County Soil & Water Conservation District, the Wells
County Sheriff Merit Board, the Mt. Etna Masonic Lodge 333 F&AM and the Scottish Rite,
Valley of Fort Wayne. He came to the Warren area from Jackson Township of Wells County. He
was a 1943 graduate of Jackson Center High School and a member of the Warren Church of
Christ.
Born June 16, 1925, he was a son of Harry R. and Ruth A. Roberts Couch. His marriage was
on April 16, 1944, at Warren to Ethel B. Harrold, who survives. Also surviving are two
sons, Larry D. Couch of Poneto and Steven E. Couch of Bluffton; one daughter, Mrs. Alan
(Mara Jo) Williams of Bluffton; two brothers, William J. Couch of Bluffton and Harry J.
Couch of Tipp City, Ohio; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Robert Couch, and a sister, Mary Couch.
Calling will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) and from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Glancy
Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel. The Mt. Etna Masonic Lodge will conduct a
lodge service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11
a.m. Wednesday at Warren Church of Christ with Gerald Moreland officiating. Burial will be
in Woodlawn Cemetery, Warren. Memorials to Warren Church of Christ and Huntington County
Cancer Society.
Julia L. Wall, 96
Julia L. Wall, 96, a resident of Meadowvale Health & Rehabilitation in Bluffton for 11
years, died there at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. A graduate of Petroleum High School,
she was a member of the First Pentecostal Church. Along with being a homemaker, she
assisted others by babysitting, cleaning homes and doing washing. She was a member of
Kings Highway Tabernacle Church.
Born July 26, 1909 in Erin, Tennessee, she was a daughter of Claude and Ada Brooks Lyle.
Her marriage was on Nov. 25, 1931, in Poneto to Raymond Wall, who died in November of
1974.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Brickley of Markle and Mrs. Robert
(Sydonna) Nunley of Craigville; two siblings, Tommy Kizer of Poneto and Pauline Darnell of
Rushville; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by a sister, Rina Marwery and three grandchildren.
Calling will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thoma-Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral
Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday. The funeral service
will be at 11 a.m.Wednesday at Kings Highway Tabernacle Church, Bluffton, with Rev. Jim
Poling officiating. Burial will be in Stahl Cemetery, rural Bluffton. Memorials to Kings
Highway Tabernacle Church.
Mary Alice Reed, 91
Mary Alice Reed, 91, rural Bluffton, died at 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Lutheran
Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Randolph County on June 25, 1914 to Claude and Lottie French Jacobs, she married
George “Russell” Reed on Dec. 24, 1932 in Cowan; he died July 15, 1988.
A 1932 graduate of Green High School, she was a housewife and active in the Murray
Missionary Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the
Lancaster Neighbors Club.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon E. Reed of Temple, Texas, and John R. Reed of Fort
Wayne; three daughters, Mrs. Hubert (Lucille) Weston of Ewing, W. Va., Mrs. Rolland (Judy)
Myers of Bluffton, and Mrs. Tony (Evona) Eisenhut of Craigville; 12 grandchildren; and 23
greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her only sister, Bonnie Reed.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Murray Missionary Church with Rev. Mike
Gilbert officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin Memorial
Chapel, and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Randolph County. Preferred memorials are to the
church.
