BEATY-MERRIMAN WEDDING AT OSSIAN
POPULAR YOUNG ATTORNEY OF BLUFFTON CLAIMED POPULAR OSSIAN GIRL AS HIS BRIDE
One of the prettiest home weddings that has ever been witnessed by Ossian's
society circles was solemnized Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Beaty,
when their daughter, Miss Irene was united in marriage to J. Bamford Merriman, of this
city. The marriage ceremony occurred at seven o'clock in the presence of eight
invited guests. They were received on their arrival by the bride and groom who mingled
with their guests until the hour of the ceremony. Promptly at seven o'clock the bride
and groom met beneath a beautiful arch which was constructed in the broad doorway between
the parlor and sitting room. Suspended from the center of the arch was a handsome wedding
bell of chrysanthemums. Palms and ferns were banked on either side of the doorway. The
officiating minister was the Rev. James Asbury Beatty, pastor of the First Methodist
Church in Huntington, a cousin of the bride. The ceremony was very pretty and impressive.
The bride wore a dress of white si!
lk, overlaid with bobinett and carried a bouquet of white bride's roses. During the
ceremony Miss Gee Milliken softly played "O Promise Me."
Following congratulations a two course wedding supper was served. Among the guests were
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dailey and Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Matlack of this city.
Mr. and Mrs. Merriman spent last night at the home of her parents in Ossian and came
to this city Thursday. They are arranging to go to housekeeping immediately, and will
occupy the M. P. Raynolds residence on West Cherry Street, where they will be at home to
friends after November 16th. Mr. and Mrs Merriman are widely known in this city and
throughout the county and they begin life's journey with the congratulations and best
wishes of a host of friends. Mrs. Merriman is one of the popular and accomplished girls
of Ossian's social circles. Mr. Merriman is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Merriman, of
Mt. Zion, is a graduate of Indiana University and of the Indianapolis Law School, is a
member of Merriman and Dailey, and is one of Bluffton's young attorneys who has a
promising future in front of him.
