William A. “Bill” Crago, 37
Brother of Mrs. David (Cathie) Heckert of Bluffton, William A. “Bill” Crago, 37, Butler,
died from injuries suffered in a traffic accident in Roxbury, N.J. Thursday, Aug. 26.
Born Aug. 29, 1966 in Fort Wayne to Carey and Katheryn Cook Crago, his marriage Dec. 4,
1998 in Auburn was to the former Sharon Williams. She and the parents survive.
He had been a truck driver for 16 years, most recently working for Evans Trucking in
Butler. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Orland, the Butler Indiana
Eagles Lodge, and was an avid Harley Davidson rider.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Erica, Saness and Courtney; two brothers,
Carey of Butler and Tom of Waterloo; three other sisters, Deanna Martin of Wawaka, Mrs.
Thomas (Mari) Scott of LaOtto, and Mrs. Jeff (Dawn) Spencer, Butler; and grandmother
Mildred Cook of Woodburn.
Funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday under the direction of Rev. Paul Patton will be at
Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
Calling will be from 5-8:30 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Violet Holdren, 94
Wells County native Violet Emma Holdren, of Mishawaka, died Saturday, Aug. 28 in the
Fountain View Nursing Home in that city.
Born Jan. 3, 1910 to Leroy and Nora King Dolby, she was preceded in death by her first
husband, Elmer Bennett in 1935, and her second husband, Orval Holdren, in 1984.
Survivors include a son, Clyde Bennett of Montpelier; four daughters, Esther Towns of
Selma, Patricia Conwell of Muncie, Hannah Greider of Sturgis, Mich., and Cathy Kopp of
Statesville, N.C.; a sister, Crystal Netrefa of Marion; 23 grandchildren; and several
great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
There will be no service or calling. The body was cremated. Memorials may be made to any
hospice.
William “Buster” Smith, 90
William DeWight “Buster” Smith, 90, of Portland, died at 3:10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 in the
Americare Center in Portland.
Born March 26, 1914 to Herman and Bessie May (Jones) Fogle Smith, he lived most of his
life in the Hartford City and Marion areas, retiring from General Tire in Marion where he
served on the union board.
He is survived y a daughter, Arlean Nibarger of Portland. He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Marlean Eccles.
There will be no calling or services. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in
Montpelier. Preferred memorials to the Jay County Hospice. Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker
Chapel in Montpelier is in charge of arrangements.
Mary C. Wickey
The sister of Lovina Neuenschwander of Pennville, Mary C. Wickey, 93, died at 1:05 a.m.
Saturday, Aug. 28 at her residence in rural Bryant.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish.
Services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the family’s residence with calling there (8694
N 700E, Bryant) any time today.
Arrangements are being handled by the Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.

Katherine E. “Kay” Graft, 76
Katherine E. “Kay” Graft, 76, died at her residence in Ossian Monday, Aug. 30.
Born in Tipton County Aug. 8, 1928 to William and Anna Bauer Riebling, she married Erwin
C. Graft in Tipton, Aug. 1, 1953. He survives.
A member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ossian, she was a homemaker and retired registered
nurse. She enjoyed writing poetry and was a published poet.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Kim Erwin Graft, Ossian; three
daughters, Mrs. John (Constance “Connie”) Denninger, Springfield, Va., Mrs. Randy (Lee
Ann) Siples, Yoder, and Mrs. Ed (Teresa Kay) Davis, Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, four
step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ossian. Rev.
William R. Brege will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in
Ossian and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the Family
Hospice of Northeast Indiana.

Roselyn M. Finan, 84
A native of Ossian, Roselyn M. Finan, 84, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at
Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She sold Avon products for 43 years and was a member of its Presidents Club. She also was
a member of the Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith A. Sneary of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Mrs.
Michael (Carolyn S.) Doehrman of Telluride, Colorado; two sons, Thomas E. Finan Jr. of The
Villages, Fla., and James M.Finan of Spencerville; a sister, Avinell Gailey of Fort Wayne,
17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Finan, in 1999 and a brother, William
Lipp.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic
Church, with calling one hour prior. Calling also is from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9
p.m.Thursday, with a vigil service at 4:30 p.m. at D.O.McComb & Sons Foster Park
Funeral Home, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials to
masses, American Heart Association and Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.

Mrs. Gladys V. Stuber, 91, of Berne died at at 3:25 a.m. today, September 1, 2004, at the
Adams County Hospital, Decatur. Arrangements are pending at Downing & Glancy Funeral

A former resident of Wells County, Edwina Dumpert, 69, of Crestview, Fla., died at 12:39
a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 at Pensacola, Fla. Rites are pending at Glancy Funeral Homes,
Walker Chapel in Montpelier.

Smith, 88, of Montpelier, who died Thursday, Sept. 2 at Blackford Community Hospital.
Janice Ford, 70
Janice E. Ford, 70, Hartford City, died Thursday, Sept. 2 at Methodist Hospital in
Indianapolis.
Survivors include her husband, Francis G. Ford; a daughter, Cynthia Bramlett of Muncie; a
son, F. Dwayne Ford of Portland; eight grandchildren, several of whom reside in Wells
County; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela
Compton.
Calling hours are today from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Keplinger Funeral Home in
Hartford City, and Saturday for two hours prior to the service, which will begin at 10
a.m. Saturday. Preferred memorials are to the Hartford City Tri-Kappa Cancer Fund.
