Does anyone know of Mary Jane Rowe of Liberty township, Wells Co., Ind. On the 1920
census for the above mentioned township she is listed as the 14 year old daughter of Homer
Rowe a Clerk in a hardware store. I recieved some photos of Mary Jane Rowe, in the photos
are other girls; Mildred and Marian Corbin; Ruth (perhaps a sister or cousin to Mary J.)
Ruth and Mary J. are in most of the pictures. Some where taken at the farm of Carrie
Yelton. It appears that they were visiting relatives or family friends. The girls posed by
the end of a covered bridge. Mary J. stated that this covered bridge was the longest in
the U.S. Since the longest covered bridge in the U.S. is or was in Indiana, I started my
search for her there. I have about 48 different pictures of Mary Jane and her companions,
some appear to be family group pictures others are of places, there is even one of a
boy's college soccer match. Strange to find a soccer picture in a group of photos from
the 1920's. The pic!
tures date from 1922 through 1928, but mostly 1922. I'm sure some of her family are
still living and would love these photos.
The lady who sent them to me thought, Mary Jane might be my ancestor. While there may be
some connection, it would be very very distant. The photos have traveled a bit over the
years. The lady, who sent them purchased them at an auction in Alaska. The person who
donated them to the charity auction got them in Colorado at an antique shop. After making
connect with this lady through the rootsweb message board, she sent me the photos here in
Parkersburg WV. It would be great if I could get these pictures to a nephew/ niece or
grandchild of Mary Jane Rowe. I need some help please in tracking down her next of kin.
She would be about 98 if she is still living.
Thank you Bubby Rowe
