This is from an obituary that was found among my grandmother's possessions.
James Scott was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, Dec. 19, 1825. In the year 1849 he
came to Indiana and settled on a farm where he lived until death. He had the first deed
for the land he owned.
He was married to Belinda Wolfcale in June 1851, who departed this life in 1855. To this
union two children were born, John Abram and Eliza J. John dying in infancy, Eliza, now
the wife of Thomas Burnau.
He was married to Elizabeth Wright Nov. 6th, 1856. To this union were born four children,
C.I. Scott, Alva Scott, W.P. Scott and Alma B. Besides these they have reared a niece,
Nora B. Fulty. Of these all survive except Alva C. Shott and Nora B. Fultz.
December 4th, 1899 brother Scott accepted Christ and united with the church at Uniontown.
He died Jan. 17, 1906, aged 80 years and 28 days.
He leaves a wife, one brother, four children with many relatives and friends to mourn
their loss. His Christian life and character abounded in good works of which honesty and
benevolence were paramount.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Galispa at the Prospect church Friday afternoon,
Jan. 19th, 1906.
