Services Are Set For Mrs. Overmier
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Thoma funeral home chapel for
Mrs. Charles Overmier, 71, who died at 1 p.m. Friday at her home at 1025 West Market
street. Rev. Matthew Worthman, pastor of the First Evangelical and Reformed church, will
conduct the services and burial will be in the Six Mile cemetery.
She was born in Wells county on Jan. 3, 1877, a daughter of Simon and Jane Daugherty
Bickel. A first marriage was to Charles Porter on Nov. 9, 1897, and her second marriage
was to Charles Overmier on Dec. 2, 1942.
She was a member of the Six Mile Christian church. The decedent had resided in Wells
county all her life except for 30 years in Michigan.
Surviving are the husband, four step-children, Raymond Overmier, of Independence, La.,
George and Glide Overmier, of Loranger, La., and Guinevere Overmier, of Bluffton; a
sister, Gertrude Bickel; 18 step-grandchildren and eight great-step-grandchildren. A
daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Minear, one brother, Hugh Bickel, and a sister Margaret Bickel, are
deceased.
