Mrs. Maria Kaehr Called by Death
Widow of Mathias Kaehr dies at home of her daughter today
Mrs. Maria Kaehr, 82, well-known Wells county resident, died at nine o'clock this
morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Reimschisel, five miles east of Bluffton.
Death was attributed to infirmities of age. She had been seriously ill for the part two
weeks.
Mrs. Kaehr was born June 20, 1849 in Switzerland, the daughter of Mathias and Anna
Hurbaucher Aeschliman, both natives of Switzerland. Her marriage to Mathias Kaehr took
place July 8, 1870. His death occurred May 20, 1916. She had been a resident of this
county for the past sixty-four years.
The children surviving are Mrs. Henry Reimschisel, Mrs. Joseph Gerber, John, Jacob,
Daniel, Joel, Joseph, and Reuben Kaehr, all living near Bluffton. Samuel Kaehr, Mrs.
Elizabeth Isch and Priscilla Kaehr are deceased. Fifty-five grandchildren also survive.
Brothers and sisters surviving are Simon Aeschliman, Mrs. John Frauhiger, Mrs. Daniel
Schwartz, a half-sister, Mrs. Lizzie Tonner, and two half-brothers, Joseph, and Isaac
Baumgartner. Mrs. Sarah Baller, Mrs. Margaret Strohm, John Aeschliman, and a half-brother,
Daniel Baumgartner, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home and at
two o'clock at the Christian Apostolic church, of which the deceased was a member.
Burial will be in the Christian Apostolic cemetery.
