Dear Raymond,
Yes,I am still at the same e-mail address. I have to admit that you probably have more
info on the Coon family than I do.What I do have that might interest you are the Military
pay records for John Coon.He was a Private. On Feb. 28,1778 He was paid from a camp near
Valley Forgeand he signed with his mark ,so he probably couldn't write. On Sept.
9,1778,he was with" the infantry at the Lines".June 14,1788 he was in Capt.
Jenkins Co. at a camp near Middlebrook, and Apr 28,1777 he was at Morristown.
The information that I have Lists George as a child of John Coons,Born about 1745 in Pa.
The source that is listed is a book on the Newhouse Family by John Richey..
Listed are Children as follows:
1-Nancy,who married Anthony Newhouse29 Mar,1799 in Fayette Co.,Pa.
2-John
3-Jacob
4-Samuel
5-George
6-Margaret
7-Barbara
8-Hannah,who married Michael Dilsaver
There was a time when I first started researching when I didn't document as well as I
now wish I had ,so I hope this information helps some anyway.
I am so glad to have some one looking for this family too. Keep in contact.
