This post about the Zanesville Land turned out not to be anything related to my William
B, Weibel who came over from Switzerland through New Orleans to Indiana, settling in
Washington, Daviess Co IN. I've never seen a Weikel in my line, but have see
misspellings such as Weivel and Weible, and Wible.
If I were you I'd google the Weikel name. Then I'd go to family
search.com and
put in his name and his birthdate, then again with his name and a year that would be about
20 years later to see if a marriage comes up. All you really have to know is a state. If
you know his wife's name as well that would be helpful. On
rootsweb.com you can serach
by the surname only. Just enter Weikel and see what you get. If you know the county he
was born, married or died in call the county clerk and ask her to check the various index
lists. You can also go to your local library and use their access to Heritage Quest and
view census information. You can browse a year or county, but you will save a lot fo time
if you know the city, state and preferably a county.
You can use my email if you think I can be of further help. cheers1004(a)yahoo.com.
