James M. Mann, 72, lifelong resident of Wells county and prominent in the Poneto community
where he had been engaged in business during his active years, died at 5:45 this morning
at the home of Horatio Grove, Poneto, following a stroke of paralysis.
He and his wife were visiting at the Grove home Thursday when he was stricken and his
condition was so serious that he could not be moved to his own home.
Mr. Mann was born in Madison county on April 15, 1860, to Henry and Martha Allen Mann. On
Dec. 25, 1879, at Poneto, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Stahl.
Surviving besides the widow is one daughter, Mrs. Frank Ifer, Poneto. One sister, Miss
Emma Mann, is deceased.
The body was removed from the Grove home to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ifer, one mile
south and one-half mile west of Poneto.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Poneto Baptist
church with Rev. W. H. Day, Bluffton in charge. Burial will be in the Stahl cemetery.
