Death came this morning about 8:30 o'clock to Hugh Minnick, at the Red Cross emergency
hospital. His death was due to a complications of diseases, which started with influenza.
From that his case developed into double pneumonia and at his death there were signs of
tuberculosis.
Mr. Minnick was born in Darke County, Ohio, on Dec. 13, 1890, and at his death was aged 28
years. His father's name was Samuel Minnick, and his mother's name Nancy (Gaunt)
Minnick. From the residence on the farm in Ohio, he moved with his family to Indiana and
on July 27, 1911, he was married to Miss Della DeWitt, a daughter of Charles DeWitt, at
Craigville, Ind. He and his wife then took up an occupation as farming on the Ernest
Wiecking farm, south of the city, which position Mr. Minnick held until the time of his
illness.
He leaves to survive him the widow, Mrs. Della Minnick and three children, Charles, aged
5, James, aged 3, and Gertrude, aged 2. The widow was a sister of Mrs. Raymond Green,
whose death occurred a short time ago. The father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Minnick,
of near Reiffsburg, also are still living, and two brothers and one sister survive. The
two brothers are Oscar and John, of near Craigville and Poneto, respectively, and the
sister, Miss Mary, resides with her parents.
Mr. Minnick was a member of the Reformed church of this city, and also belonged to the Red
Men's lodge.
The funeral is to be held at the DeWitt home at 903 west Cherry Street, on Wednesday
afternoon with Rev. Reemsnyder officiating. Burial will be in Fairview.
