Mrs. Abbie Bowman, 88, who suffered injury and shock in a fall, died at 4:20 this morning
at the Wells county hospital where she had been a patient since Thursday.
She had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Arville Barger, of Craigville, since the death
of her husband. About midnight Wednesday she fell down a stairway at the Barger home and
death resulted from effects of the fall.
Mrs. Bowman was born Nov. 28, 1861 in Wells county to Abraham and Louise DeWitt
Studebaker. Her marriage to William E. Bowman took place at Vera Cruz on Oct. 23, 1882.
His death occurred in August, 1922.
She was a member of the Six Mile Christian church.
Surviving are four sons, Edward Bowman, of Brooklyn, N. Y., Charles Bowman, of Rockford
and Russell and Lloyd Bowman, of Decatur, two daughters, Mrs. Orville Barger, of
Craigville and Mrs. Russell Melchi, of Decatur; a sister, Mrs. E. L. Huffman, of Bluffton;
28 grandchildren. A son, two daughters, five sisters and three brothers are deceased.
The body was removed to the Jahn funeral home where friends may call after 7 o'clock
this evening.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home
with Rev. Homer Studabaker officiating. Burial will be in the Six Mile cemetery.
