Lora Gay Price, 67
A resident of Bluffton, Lora Gay Price, 67, died Friday, Oct. 8 at Lutheran Hospital in
Fort Wayne.
Born May 30, 1937 in Milton, West Virginia, to Richard and Alyene Chapman Bledsoe, she was
a federal government employee at Farmers Home Administration in West Virginia for a period
of 25 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Milton, West Va., and a
member of the Steele Memorial United Methodist Church in West Virginia.
Surviving are a son, Stephen Price of Bluffton; two daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Carolyn)
Hickman of Uniondale and Lisa Auffant of Ossian; a sister, Ruth Ann Ferrigno of Derby,
Ct., three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a
sister and a brother.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Heck Funeral Home in Milton, West Va., where
calling will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery at Salt Rock, West
Va. Preferred memorials are to the Lupus Foundation in care of Carolyn Hickman of
Uniondale.
Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Homes were in charge of local arrangements.

Mary Ann Vanover, 90
Mary Ann Vanover, 90, Montpelier, died at 1:18 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at her son’s
residence in Montpelier.
Born May 1, 1914 in Leslie County, Kentucky to Elisha and Lucy Ellen Browning Shepherd,
she married Buck Vanover there on July 19, 1930; he died July 26, 1979.
She was retired from Franklin Electric Co., and was a member of the Church of Christ in
Bluffton.
Survivors include two sons, Darnell Vanover of Montpelier and Kash Vanover of Keystone;
three daughters, Bessie Wilson of Bryant, Kay Enterline of Pennville and Helen Buchanan of
Wilshire, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney
Funeral Home in Bluffton. Calling hours are Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. and for one hour
prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pennville.

Alice E. Reinhard, 86
Services for Alice E. Reinhard, 86, of Fort Wayne, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the
Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton. Miss Reinhard died at 1:10 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 9 at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler.
Born in Adams County on Feb. 4, 1918 to Adolph and Lydia Meyer Reinhard, she graduated
from Kirkland High School in 1935. After graduation from West Suburban Teaching Hospital
in 1942 as a registered nurse, she served as a 1st Lt. in World War II as a nurse in the
South Pacific theater from 1942 to 1945. She worked as a registered nurse at the V.A.
Hospital in Fort Wayne for 18 years, retiring in 1978.
Miss Reinhard was a long time member of the Gospel Temple in Fort Wayne, and then a member
of Black Hawk Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Howard Reinhard of Craigville; two sisters, Esther Lehman of
Berne and Ruth Dynes of Geneva; a sister-in-law, Agnes Reinhard of Berne; and 18 nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Reinhard, and a sister, Mary
Reinhard.
Calling hours are from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Services will be
conducted by the Carlton Reinhard family. Burial will be in the MRE Cemetery in Berne.
Preferred memorials to WBCL Radio, The Salvation Army or to World Vision.
Kenneth L. DeBolt, 79
Kenneth L. DeBolt, 79, Decatur, died Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Adams County Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. DeBolt worked as a meat cutter for 42 years, which included some time in Bluffton,
retiring in 1984 from Maloley Brothers.
A Scriptural Wake will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home
in Decatur. Calling hours are from noon until the time of the service Tuesday. Burial will
be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with military graveside rites by the American Legion
Post 43.

Confer, 97, of Mt. Zion, who died at 4 p.m. Sunday in Montpelier.
Lois H. Dwyer, 87
Lois H. Dwyer, 87, of Warren, died at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 at the United Methodist
Memorial Home in Warren.
A native of Ossian, she was born July 6, 1917 to Rev. William E. and Meade G. Arbogast
Hamilton. She married Wayne W. Dwyer on March 29, 1941 in Yorktown; he survives.
After completing her training at the Ball State School of Nursing in 1940, Mrs. Dwyer was
a registered nurse for nearly 20 years at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She and her
husband were proprietors of the Dwyer Insurance Agency in Yorktown before moving to Warren
in 1991. She was a member of the Warren United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Dr. James Dwyer of Hamburg,
Germany and Dr. Rex Dwyer of Raleigh, N.C.; and five grandchildren. The last surviving
member of her family, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
A graveside service was held today at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Warren with Pastor
Herbert Edwards officiating; a memorial service will be held at a later date. Preferred
memorials are to the church or to the United Methodist Memorial Home.
Arrangements are being handled by Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel in
Warren.
Harold G. Sauer, 87
The father of Mark Sauer of rural Bluffton, Harold G. Sauer, 87, Decatur, died at 2:34
p.m. Friday, Oct. 8 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
A native of Adams County, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air
Corp in Italy. He retired in 1982 from Indiana & Michigan Electric Co. after 32 years
of service as an electrical engineer.
Additional survivors include his wife, Alvina (Aumann) Sauer of Decatur; a daughter, Linda
Abdon of Decatur; two other sons, Dr. Ken Sauer of South Bend and Fred Sauer of Decatur; a
brother, Ralph Sauer and three sisters, Florence Engle, Vera Hammond and Clarice Porter,
all of Decatur; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in
Decatur, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen.
Calling hours are this evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Bingen, Preferred memorials to the
church or Worship for Shut-ins.
Ethel E. Holt, 84
Services for Ethel E. “Hap” Quillen Holt, 84, Hartford City, will be held Tuesday at 2
p.m. at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel in Montpelier. She died at 8:23 p.m. Friday at
Millers Merry Manor in Hartford City.
Born in Jay County on Dec. 13, 1919 to Howard and Alice Florence Watt Quillen, Sr., she
retired from Indiana Glass in Dunkirk in 1967. She lived most of her life in the Dunkirk,
Hartford City and Pennville area. She was a member of the Olive Branch Church of the
Nazarene in Hartford City.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Pavey of Dunkirk; three brothers; a sister; four
grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in
Muncie. Preferred memorials to the church or to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.

Hazel Confer, 97
Funeral services for Hazel Williams Confer, 97, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glancy
Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel in Montpelier.
A native of Blackford County, Mrs. Confer died at 4:14 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at her
residence in Montpelier.
Born Oct. 2, 1907 to W. H. and Gertrude L. Capper Williams, her marriage on May 10, 1928
in Blackford County was to A. Dale Confer, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1979.
She was a 1926 graduate of Montpelier High School and a former resident of Mt. Zion in
Wells County. She was a member of the Pleasantdale United Methodist Church and formerly
attended the McNatt United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Ira and Lester Williams. Surviving
are several nieces and nephews.
Chaplain Annette Baker will officiate at services and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
at Montpelier. Calling at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Preferred
memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
Brenda Bradburn, 64 — Rites Pending
Brenda Bradburn, 64, of Rockledge, Fla., formerly of Markle, died today, Oct. 12, at
Carnegie Gardens Nursing Home in Melbourne, Fla. Arrangements are pending at
Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian Chapel.
Claude Harvey Jr., 78
Claude Harvey Jr., 78, brother of Dale Harvey, Mrs. Tom (Kathleen) Frantz and Don Harvey
of Wells County and Mrs. Ed (Francile) Zimmerman of Berne, died Monday at Lutheran
Hospital.
A former Wells and Adams County resident, he lived in Coldwater, Ohio. He is remembered by
many in the area as a livestock dealer and an avid racing horse owner and fan.
Arrangements are pending.

Sarah Brown, 77
Sarah Brown, 77, of Huntington died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.12, 2004, at the residence
of her daughter, Mrs. Kevin (Teri) Eller of Huntington.
A homemaker, Mrs. Brown had lived in Mt. Etna for 37 years.
She was born March 19, 1927, in Stanford, Kentucky, to David and Catherine (Scarbrough)
Richmond. Her marriage was on April 3, 1944, at Connersville to Thomas F. Brown, who died
Sept. 26, 1985.
Surviving in addition to the Huntington daughter are two sons, Larry F. Brown of Marion
and Kevin Brown of Warren, and six grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to the husband, were one son, Thomas J. Brown Jr.; a
brother, John Richmond, and two sisters, Mary Bowne and Edith Gallaher.
Calling will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday at Glancy Funeral Homes - H.
Brown & Son Chapel at Warren, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, with Pastor
Gary Riley officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory at Marion. Memorials to Family

Joyce C. Dirig, 61
Joyce C. Dirig, 61, of Ossian, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at her residence.
Born August 26, 1943, in Allen County, she was a homemaker. She was married to Donald J.
Dirig, who died in December of 1998.
Surviving are one son, Dean Bontempo of Tri Lakes, Indiana, and two daughters, Donna
Bender of Kendallville and Andrea Bontempo of Auburn.
There are no services or calling. Arrangements by Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home,
Ossian.
Claude ‘Pete’ Harvey Jr., 78
A brother of Dale and Don Harvey and Mrs. Thomas (Kathleen) Frantz, all of Bluffton,
Claude “Pete” Harvey Jr., 78, of Coldwater, Ohio, died at 4:41 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2004,
at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born June 3, 1926, in Adams County, he was a son of Claud and Essie Koos Harvey. His
marriage was on July 4, 1948, at Warren to Mary E. Burkhart, who died Nov. 18, 1996.
He was self-employed as a livestock buyer, owning Harvey Livestock at Coldwater, Ohio, and
also owning Green Hedge Stable at Berne. He was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist
Church, the U.S. Trotting Association, the Mercer County Harness Horsemen’s Association,
the Coldwater Eagles Lodge and the Celina Moose Lodge.
Surviving, in addition to the Bluffton brothers and sister, are another sister, Mrs.
Edward (Francille) Zimmerman of Berne, and two grandsons. Preceding him in death, in
addition to his wife, were a daughter, Judith Harvey Groves, a granddaughter and a
sister.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. (Ohio time) Friday at W. H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home
in Celina, Ohio, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor David Gordon
presiding. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

Ralph Powell, 79
Father of Bluffton resident Mrs. Earl (Jane) Harris of Bluffton, Ralph Powell, 79, Lagro,
died Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Florida Hospital, Orlando, Fla.
Born April 30, 1925 in lagro to Orange and Addie Mae Joh Powell, his marriage to the
former velva Rinearson took place in Lagro April 23, 1949. She survives.
A groundskeeper for the Metropolitan School District of Wabash, he retired in 1985 after
34 years with Brown From Wabash. A member of the Lagro Presbyterian Church, he attended
the Lincolnville United Methodist Church. A World War II veteran, he retired from the
Indiana National Guard after 22 years in the military and was awarded the Bronze Star.
Additional survivors include a second daughter, Mrs. Doug (Minda) lehman, Wabash; two
brothers, Guy Powell of Andrews and Russell Powell of Bloomington; a sister, Beck Behny of
Wabash; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
Six sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Services at 10 a.m. Saturday will be held at Lincolnville United Methodist Church in
Lincolnville. There will be calling one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will
be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash.
Calling will also be held 2-8 p.m. Friday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Home in Wabash.
Memorials may be made to the Lincolnville United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Jean Frazier Redding, 81
A native of Bluffton and Valedictorian of the Bluffton High School Class of 1941, Jean
Frazier Redding, 81, of Bloomington, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, following complications from a
broken leg.
Born Jan. 2, 1923 in Bluffton to Herbert and Edna Cummins Frazier, she married James
Redding in 1944. He survives.
Following her graduation from Bluffton High School, she attended Indiana University and
worked at the RCA proximity fuse plant in Bloomington.
From 1949 to 1960 she lived in Seymour, where she served as president of the Girl Scout
Leaders Association and as a water safety instructor for the American Red Cross at the
Seymour pool. She was a Gamma Associate of Tri Kappa and was the past vice president of
the Seventh District of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs. She was twice
elected president of the Women’s Club of Montclair, N.J. and was an active member for over
20 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, James, of Nashville; a daughter, Ann
Redding, of Lynchburg, Va., two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours at Allen Funeral Home, Bloomington, will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday.
