I'll have to second (or third?) this! We had been looking for a death date
for Jacob Gardenour (1810-1885) of Uniondale for years. One of the county
bio books says he died in March, 1885, but no exact day. The county
doesn't have a death record for him, either, even though they started
keeping track of deaths before that. The library doesn't have that entire
year of newspapers. His tombstone just says d.1885. But in the title
abstract, of all places, it gave his exact date of death. In addition, it
gave loads of information on a.k.a.'s of all the children, grandchildren,
and cousins - it's been really helpful to find out that Catherine's birth
name was Mary Catherine, and Delbert was in reality William Delbert. This
has made a lot of sense when trying to match up the names with the old
census records.
It's definitely a source to check!

My point being if you get a chance to read anyone's deed or " Abstract of
Title," do so it may just hold secrets you would never have known.
