I have an interest in both the Heckman and Maddux Families. William F. Smith married Dessie Heckman on April 15, 1905. She appears to have died prior to the 1920 Federal Census. They did have two children, Virgil and Della Smith. If this woman is related to you can you tell me who her parents are?
My interest in the Maddux family comes from a project that I am collecting information on. In 1906 there was a quilt made by the Ladies Aid society at the United Brethen Church in Nine Mile Indiana. On the Quilt all the names of all the Members of the church were embroidered on pieces of fabric and then assembled into Crazy Quilt Blocks. I am collecting data on all these families so one day I can write a book about this church and it's members. On the Quilt there is a Mrs. F. Maddux, (I have learned that it is Frank), James Maddux, Stanton Maddux and Minnie Maddux. I did find them in the 1900 Federal Census. If you have any information on this Madux family I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Janet Smith

I have not followed the Campbell or Heckmen lines but I wish i knew how you connected into the Maddux line as I am interested in living relatives like myself. My Great Great Grandfather was John Wesley Maddux, the son between William and Nathan. My Great Grandfather Andrew was the oldest son of John Wesley Maddux by his second wife Sarah Elizabeth Black Holcomb. Andrew married Sarah Jane Brickley and died young leaving three children Floyd (my Grandfather), Frank (whose children live in Michigan) and Martha (White) whom I know nothing about. Three years after Andrew died Sarah Jane Brickley Maddux married John Henry Miller and moved to MoArk, Arkansas between Corning, ARkansas and Poplar Bluff, MO Since my Grandfather Floyd was over 2 1/2 at the time and was raised as one of the Miller boys, he did not know how to spell his name so he spelled it Maddex. His children Deloy, Ernest, and Laville went to school and their teacher made them change it from Maddex to Maddox. !
We did not realize until five years ago that it should have been Maddux

We recently found where we connect to this Maddux family through Elizabeth Heckman married to Nathan & Samuel Campbell married to Catherine. Have you followed their lines?

I am currently researching the Hesher line. My husband is a descendent of Fredrick Hesher and Christina Staub. Fredrick Hesher's son, Abram Hesher had a daughter Nellie Hesher who married Hansel Garrison. Nellie is my husband's Grandmother. I would be interested in gathing more information on Fredrick. Please email me at pjg316(a)comcast.net
