Martha Lanning Grove is buried at the Twibell North cemetery in Blackford County. The death date on her marker is 18 Oct 1856, age 20y 10m 4d. The other information on the marker is wife of A.J. Grov; dau of Jos. & M.E. Lanning. I am also of the Grove line, but at this point cannot help you with a birth date for Clarence. I would like to know if you can give me the name of Martha's mother for my research on this cemetery.

Am not researching this line, just trying to be helpful. In the 1860 census for Wells county, Chester township, page 100, Post Office of Montpelier there was a family headed by Andrew J Grove, 26, farmer, born in Ohio and included Cynthaette, 23, Ind, - Clarence L, 3, Ind, and Martha J W, 1. Since Clarence was listed as 3 years old, he could have been born in either 1856 or 1857 depending on the month of his birth. Given that I would say it is most likely that Martha was his mother. Hope this helps. Don

Clarence Love Grove is the son of Andrew Jackson Grove who was married to Martha Lanning in 1856 and to Cynthia Etta Kershner in 1858. According to my records Clarence was born in 1857 but indicate that he was the son of Cynthia Etta Kershner which presents a dillema. Was Martha Lanning or Cynthia Kershner his mother or is my record of the date of his birth in error. When I visited the Bluffton, Indiana they indicated that 1857 birth records had been destroyed. Andrew Grove was the son of Thomas Grove the son of George Grove of Pennsylvania whose sons, George, Joseph, and Thomas (my ancestor) who all came to Wells County from Licking County, Ohio in 1839 and 1840. HELP! Thank you!

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to donate their old genealogy books to me. I am looking to open a genealogy library in California after I receive my masters in Library Science. (probably at least 4 years from now). Also, if anyone wants to send their family pedigrees or history to me that would be great too! Feel free to email me with any questions. Thank you!

As a descendant of the Solomon and Mary (BLAIR) BEVER family of Wells County
(listed on 1860 Census), I am searching for descendants of Mary (BLAIR) BEVER
GUESS CROY.
Mary and her third husband Noah CROY had three daughters.
Minnie Levy CROY (born 1870 in Wells Co.) married George H. FORNEY and lived
in Michigan. Minnie died in 1903 and it is believed that she is buried in the
STAHL Cemetery as Minnie L. FORNEY, with an incorrect birthdate on her
tombstone. To my knowledge she did not have any children as her husband remarried
after her death and there are no children the right age to have been Minnie's
child, on the 1910 Census.
Naoma Dilly CROY (born 1873 in Wells Co.) married Charles ELSWORTH
(ELLSWORTH). This family moved to the Fort Smith Arkansas area
Elizabeth Isadora "Lizzie" CROY (born 1875 in Wells Co.) married Charles
Robert PUGH. She died 4 June 1912 and is buried in the STAHL Cemetery.
Solomon and Mary (BLAIR) BEVER's children were: George A., Isaac, Margaret
"Maggie" (BEVER) MARKER, all buried in the Stahl Cemetery. Two other sons,
Bethuel "Bess" BEVER and Jacob W. BEVER are buried in other cemeteries.
My search for these descendants are in the hopes that they may have pictures
of Mary (BLAIR) BEVER GUESS CROY or pictures of the family. I have a picture
of Mary's son, Aaron GUESS, Bethuel and Jacob BEVER, but not any of her
daughters. Margaret "Maggie" BEVER MARKER is my great-great-grandmother.

On some of the records on Ancestry.com, when searching a name with Mc at the beginning you should leave a space between it and the rest of the name, some not all. Also when searching for a person with what we presumed to be an unusual first name, use the soundex capability, does wonders. Good luck and happy hunting. Don

I will have to keep that mind for future reference. I thought, as you, that Zada would have been easily found but it appears as though I was spelling the last name incorrectly. Thank you again for your help. Debbie

Since Zada is an unusual name (I thought), searched the census for her first name only. Came back with over a thousand people with that name, so narrowed it down to Indiana and found her there. Don

Hello-
I am looking for John M Sumey, I have found a John Suma, and only
John Suma in an 1860's census. Looking at the family it looks to be the
correct John M Sumey, just misspelled. I am looking for information on
John, I know he was born about 1838 in PA, but not sure exactly as to
what date and location. If anyone would know his parent's names that
too would be wonderful.
I am also looking for Mary Deter, she married John Sumey, in Indiana,
but I cannot locate a marriage date, would love to know one. I am also
very interested in learning more about Mary's birth date and location.
By the censuses it looks to be abt 1840 in Ohio. I do not know much
about Mary. I would also like to learn her parent's names, if anyone
may be aware of this info. Thank you very much.
