Mary Menso — Rites Pending
Mary Menso of 1012 Sherwood Drive died Friday morning at her home. She was the widow of Edward D. Menso, who died in May of 1996. She is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Rites are pending at Goodwin Memorial Chapel.

Mary M. Menso, 76
Mary M. Menso, 76, a photographer and painter, died at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at her residence at 1012 Sherwood Dr.. in Bluffton.
A homemaker, she attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Francis and Anna Heinrich Hawkins. Her marriage at Jackson, Mich., on Dec. 20, 1952 was to Edward Menso, who died May 28, 1996.
Mrs. Menso had resided in Bluffton since 1964. She was the last of her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry Anne Menso of Oakland, Calif.; two sons, Ed J. Menso of Chicago and James F. Menso of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, where visitation hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Father Larry Kramer will officiate and burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery.

Lester E. Price, 63
A graveside service was scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery in Montpelier for Lester E. Price, 63, who died Sept. 1 at his residence in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Visitation hours were today from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at Glancy Funeral Home, Walker Chapel, in Montpelier.
Mr. Price was an electrician most of his lifetime and worked out of the IBEW Local 873 at Kokomo. He moved from the Montpelier area to Arizona three years ago.
He formerly attended the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier and attended Montpelier High School.
Mr. Price was an armed forces veteran, serving in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy until his discharge in 1957. He was born in Blackford County Aug. 20. 1938 to Dorsey LaVaughn and Wilda Hughes Price. The mother, now Wilda Shiner, resides in Warren.
Surviving also his wife, the former Aneta Jean King, to whom he was married in Michigan on April 19, 1969; four daughters, Nelva Richardson of Copperas Cove, Ariz., Christina Weaver of Santa Fe, N.M., Leslie Hughes of Muncie and Bonnie Price of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son Timothy E. Price of Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers, John of Huntington, Dorsey of Poneto and David of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and several grandchildren. A daughter, Wilda Coaffy, is deceased.

Winston Wilson, 80
Winston Wilson, 80, of Murray, Ky., formerly of Fort Wayne, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray.
He was retired from Dana Corp. in Fort Wayne and was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Murray.
He was born in Lee County, Va., Jan. 4, 1921 to Loran J. and Pearl Wynn Wilson. His marriage on Oct. 30, 1941 was to Myrtle Anglin, who survives. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Kaehr of Springfield, Ohio, and Mrs. ! Ronald (Sharon) LeBlanc of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a brother, Bernard C. Wilson, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Visitation hours at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home in Murray, Ky., were held Sunday and a funeral service was conducted there at 11 a.m. today with Dr. Allan Beane and Rev. William B. Miller officiating.

A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. today for Bertha B. Jernigan, 69, of Spring Lake, N.C., who died Friday, Sept. 7, at Womack Army Medical Center.
Adcock Funeral Home at Spring Lake was in charge of arrangements and Rev. John R. Woodard Jr. officiated at the rites at Riverside Memorial Gardens at Spring Lake. Visitation hours were Sunday.
Surviving Mrs. Jernigan are her husband, Thomas Edison Jernigan; two sons, Terry L. of Spring Lake and Thomas H. of Hope Mills, N.C.; five sisters, Betty R. Combs, Donna K. Lewis and Geraldine S. Kinsey, all of Bluffton, Ind., Thelma J. Nelund of Muskegon, Mich., and Lois L. Pence of Lafayette, Ga.; a brother, Richard C. Betz of Muskegon, Mich.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rita C. Frank, 81
A registered nurse, Rita C. Frank, of Fort Wayne, died at 8:52 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was associated as a nurse with Dr. Harry Salon for 18 years and with St. Joseph Hospital for 10 years.
A resident of Fort Wayne since 1954, Mrs. Frank was a member of St. Vincent’s DePaul Catholic Church.
She was born in Lima, Ohio, June 12, 1920 and was married in Fort Wayne on Nov. 23, 1952 to George E. Frank, who died Feb. 23, 1999.
Surviving are four daughters, Judith Doan, Rosemarie Shaw and Maureen D. Davis, all of Fort Wayne, and Pamela Getz of LaGrange; a stepdaughter, Cecilia Bryan of British Columbia, Canada; and a sister, Mary Louise Boyer of Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church and burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lake Avenue Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Jean Orr, 77, formerly of Bryant, died at 4:14 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at her residence on Lake Tippecanoe at Leesburg.
She was a nurse at Jay County Hospital in Portland for 14 years and was personnel secretary at CTS in Berne for 27 years, retiring in 1991,
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church at Portland and membership secretary of the Bryant Alumni Association.
Mrs. Orr was born in Jay County Jan, 4, 1924 to Lewis Andrew and Ada Zuralda Luttman Judy. Her marriage on May 2, 1943 was to John A. Orr, who died in 1993.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dave (Lynn) Beer of Fort Wayne and Barbara Cross of Leesburg; a brother, George Judy of Winter Haven, Fla.; a sister, Frances Terrill of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; four great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland and interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery at Bryant.

Dorothy Ellen Schriver, 83
Mother of three sons residing in the Montpelier area, Dorothy Ellen Schriver, 83, of Grafton, Ohio, died Sunday, Sept. 9, after a short illness.
She was the wife of Henry Schriver to whom she was married in 1938. The couple observed a 63rd wedding anniversary in June. The two had spent their entire married life on a farm in Grafton Township, Lorain County, near Belden, Ohio.
Mrs. Schriver was a school teacher. She served for 40 years as a 4-H advisor and in the 1980s and 1990s was a commissioner for the Lorain County Metro Parks System. She was a volunteer counselor in Elyria, Ohio, in the 1990s in a family assistance program.
She was a member of the Belden United Methodist Church and active in community organizations,including two Farm Bureau Councils. She had traveled throughout the United States as well as England, East Africa, India, Japan and Taiwan.
Mrs. Schriver was born near Perry, Ohio, Sept. 20, 1917 to Thomas and Anna Langshaw.
Surviving are 12 children, including the Montpelier area sons, Jim, Paul and Randy. Other children are Carol Carpenter, Sally Kocher, Ellen Stephenson, Bill, Don, Larry, Ted, Ken, and Hiro Shibuya, who joined the family as an exchange student from Japan.
There also are 40 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Because her body will be given for medical education, there will be no funeral service.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. (EST) Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Belden United Methodist Church, where visitation will be for two hours prior to the service.
Memorials to the Lorain County 4-H Endowment Fund, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral services for Ann L. Swisher, 76, who died Frida y in Raleigh, N.C., will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Thoma/Rich Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Shannon and Rev. Robert Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.

Lloyd D. Sanquist, 77
Funeral services for Lloyd D. Sanquist, 77, of Craigville, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur.
Mr. Sanquist died Thursday at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne.,
A native of Hines, Mich., he was born Jan. 23, 1924 to Spencer and Olive Goble Sanquist, and his marriage on Sept. 3, 1950 was to Esther M. Gould, who preceded him in death on April 11, 2000.
Retired from Hagerman Construction, he served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Fireman First Class, and was a member of the American Legion Post 111 in Bluffton and the Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Nancy) Weis of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Melvin of St. Cloud, Minn., and Spencer of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Lulu Voshell of Berne, Lorraine Wahls of Maroa, Ill., and Imogene Pennington of Carbondale, Ill., and one grandchild.
Calling will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and burial will be in Backesto/Spring Hill Cemetery at Berne.

Thomas N. Thomas, 55
Retired Southern Wells school teacher Thomas N. Thomas, 55, died unexpectedly at 9 a.m. Sunday his rural Bluffton residence.
Mr. Thomas, who was an elementary teacher for 26 years, retired in 1994 from Southern Wells School District, where he had taught since 1977.
He was a graduate of Petroleum High School in 1964 and from Huntington College in 1969. He did advance studies at Ball State University and received a master’s degree from the University of Saint Francis. He also engaged in other post-graduate studies after receiving his master’s degree.
He taught at Sunmar-Dearborn School Corp. at Lawrenceburg from 1969 to 1975. He coached several junior and senior high sports and drove a team bus for several years at Southern Wells.
He was a member of the Alethia Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star at Montpelier, Masonic Lodge 211 at Pennville and the United Methodist Church at Montpelier. He also was a life member of the National Education Association and a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, International Reading Association and was a past president of the Liberty Center Lions Club.
He was born at Bluffton May 29, 1946 to Merle H. and Cenith I. Rigby Thomas. His mother died in 1984. Mr. Thomas’ marriage at Waldron on May 26, 1973 was to Shirley Kay Rick, who survives.
Surviving are his father and stepmother, Merle and Sharon S. Thomas of Bluffton, and a daughter, Tamerley Nirene Thomas of Bluffton.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Gray officiating. Burial will be in Stahl Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time for services. An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday and a Masonic Lodge service at 8:30 p.m.

Charles C. Shaw Sr., 83
Charles C. Shaw Sr., 83 of Huntington, a native of Bluffton, died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday at his residence.
Mr. Shaw worked for H.K. Porter in Huntington as a press operator for 32 years, retiring in 1981. He also drove sprint and stock cars in the late 1940s at the Idle Hour Speedway in Huntington and various other tracks in northern Indiana.
He was a veteran of U.S. Army service during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 7 in Huntington.
Mr. Shaw was born at Bluffton June 12, 1918 to Loran and Chancy Wolf Shaw. His marriage in Bluffton on Sept. 3, 1949 was to June R. Gephart, who survives. He was a 1936 graduate of Bluffton High School.
Additional survivors are three sons, Charles Jr. and Tom Sr. and Ken Sr., all of Huntington; a brother, Robert of Bluffton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. A sister is deceased.
Services at 2 p.m. Wednesday will be at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Al S oultz officiating. Interment will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
Visitation hours at the funeral chapel are today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Kathryn R. Acker, 100, died Sunday evening at the United Methodist Memorial Home at Warren. Rites are pending at Glancy Funeral Home, Butler Chapel, in Warren.
Rodney D. Forrester, 32
Rodney D. Forrester , 32, who served more than 10 years in an Army special operations unit, died at 12:01 a.m. Saturday at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn., of injuries sustained in an auto accident in Tennessee.
Mr. Forrester, who resided at Clarksville, Tenn., was a 1987 graduate of Blackford County High School at Hartford City. He was active in the Blackford County 4-H while in school.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1987 and became a member of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and a member of the Army’s elite Night Stalkers, serving until 1998 at Fort Campbell, Ky.
He was employed by Bell South in Dover, Tenn., where he was a member of the American Legion and was a Boy Scout leader. He attended the University of Southern Florida and also Austin Peay University in Clar ksville. He was a member of the Pleasantdale United Methodist Church.
Mr. Forrester was born at Hartford City April 14, 1969 to Terry and Nelva Forrester, both of whom survive and reside at Hartford City.
Other survivors are a son, Zachary Kenneth John, and a daughter, Kaitlyn Michelle, both at home; two brothers, Greg of Hartford City and Todd of Brodhead, Wis,; and his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Wilma Dean Ickes of Dunkirk; three nephews and a niece. His paternal grandparents, Russell and Frances Forrester, are deceased.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, Walker Chapel, in Montpelier, where calling hours are today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m.
Rev. Steve Loft will officiate and burial will be in Historical Woodlawn Cemetery at Montpelier.

Norma L. Brookmyer, 86, formerly of Fort Wayne, died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton, where she had been a resident since July 1997.
She had resided in Ossian for five years with a daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Robert Baker, following the death of her husband, Floyd J., in 1992. She was born in Fort Wayne Nov. 18, 1914 to Martin and Caroline Baals Korte. Her marriage took place Sept. 18, 1937.
Mrs. Brookmyer was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church at Ossian and was active in the Homemakers Club of Allen County prior to moving to Ossian.
Surviving are the daughter, Carol A. Baker of Ossian; a son, David J., of Ossian; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.
Services at 10 a.m. Wednesday will be at New Hope Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Doehrmann officiating. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne.

Malcolm D. Bender, 90
A retired machine operator, Malcolm D. Bender, 90, of Uniondale, died Monday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Bender retired in 1972 from General Electric in Fort Wayne after 32 years as a machine operator.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at Uniondale and the GE Quarter Century Club. He was an avid bowler and gardener.
He was born in Uniondale Sept. 2, 1910 to William H. and Elva Gardenour Bender. His marriage at Uniondale on Nov. 5, 1933 was to Grace Walmsley, who died April 19, 1975.
Surviving are two sons, William A. of Fort Wayne and Robert G. of Zanesville; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Muriel E.) Ho rnberger of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Garry (Nancy J.) Sink of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Laura L. Meier officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in rural Wells County.

Mrs. Williams was born Dec. 19, 1924 in Fort Wayne to Guy E. and Hazel Louise Taylor Davenport. Her marriage at LaFontaine on June 4, 1944 was to Oliver David Williams, who died Nov. 23, 1988.
Surviving are a son, Jim Williams of Huntington; two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Jane Ann) Michaud and Sharon Williams, both of Warren; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A sister is deceased.
Funeral services will be led by Pastor Lynn Mefferd and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Warren.

Martha Mae Mendenhall, 99
Funeral services for Martha Mae Mendenhall, 99, a native of Bluffton, were held at 11 a.m. today at Angola.
Mrs. Mendenhall died Saturday at Lake Nursing Home in Angola.
Born in Bluffton, she was a homemaker and helped on a dairy farm. She also worked for 30 years at Bledsoe’s Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivy, in 1982 and by a son, Roger, in 1991.
Surviving are a son, Harold of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Russell Aker of Coldwater, Mich.; a sister, Jeanetta Aker of Angola; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were by Johnson-Klink Funeral Home at Angola and burial was to be today in Fairview Cemetery at Bluffton.

A memorial service will be held at a future dat e for M. Kathryn Acker, age 100, who died at 7:50 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Memorial Home, where she had resided since 1982.

Mrs. Acker, a former resident of Muncie, worked for Ball Stores there for 20 years as a secretary.
She was born in Schuyler County, Illinois, April 16, 1901, to Joseph R. and Effie Belle Dean Rose. Her marriage was to Edward R. Acker, who died Oct. 29, 1963. She was a 1917 graduate of Muncie Central High School and a member of the High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie.
Surviving are a nephew, Dr. J. Dean Twining of Muncie, and four nieces, Mrs. George (Jean) Clark of Lafayette, Calif., Mrs. John (Joan) Morton of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Jim (Janet) McCaughey of Cuba, Ill., and Mrs. Don (Mary K.) Stoufer of Washington, D.C. A brother and three sisters are deceased.
Arrangements are in charge of Glancy Funeral Homes, Butler Chapel, at Warren. There will be no visitation period.

Infant Hailee Mae Meekin was stillborn at 9 a.m. Tuesday to Melissa Williams Felske and Gary Meekin of Bluffton at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
In addition to the parents, surviving are three sisters, Breanna Felske, Erin Meekin and Kaitlin Meekin, and a brother, Garrett Meekin, all at home; the grandparents, Rex and Sharon Meekin of Fort Wayne, Peggy Meekin of Bluffton and Gary and Margaret Williams of Bay City, Mich.; and the great-grandparents, Darlene Griffin of Bay City, Mich., and Anna Mae Meekin of Fort Wayne.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Tom Bradley officiating.

Frank C. Rutenberg, 82
A former resident of Ossian, Frank C. Rutenberg, 82, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at his home in Huntington.
He was retired from Wabash Fiber Company in Fort Wayne, where he had worked for many years.
Mr. Rutenberg was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Huntington.
He was born in Huntington County Dec. 25, 1918 to Christian and Ida Jahnke Rutenberg. His marriage on Oct. 27, 1979 was to Rose Vebert, who died Feb. 3, 1985.
Surviving are a brother, Arthur H. of Zanesville; two sisters, Edna Dinsmore of Portland, Ore., and Marie Rutenberg of Markle; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Louise E. Miller, 82
Louise E. Miller, 82, of Monroe, died Tuesday at Woodcrest in Decatur, where she had been a patient since January.
A homemaker, Mrs. Miller was a former employee of the Shafer Glove Factory, F. McConnell & Son, and Adams County Farm Bureau.
She was member of the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren, where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and where she taught Sunday school and served as assistant teacher for the Bible School.
She was born in Jefferson, Md., July 28, 1919 to Lewis H. and Bessie May Stimmel Renn. Her marriage at Clarksburg, Md., on Sept. 29, 1944 was to Lloyd E. Miller, who survives.
Surviving also are three daughters, Mrs. Jim (Sylvia) Buettner of Ohio City, Ohio, Mrs. Phillip (Eva) Maxwell of West Friendship, Md., and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Breisch of Decatur; a son, Rev. Robert L. Miller of Huntington; three sisters, Betty Shaw and Mrs. Carl (Becky) Fry, both of Frederick, Md., and Mrs. Kenneth (Alta) Gladhill of Middleton, Md.; two brothers, L. Howa rd Renn and Frank N. Renn, both of Frederick, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A son, Wayne L., and two sisters are deceased.
Services at 2 p.m. Saturday will be at the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Terry Shumaker officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery in rural Decatur.

Wayne L. Shaffer, 90, who was born at Craigville, died Wednesday at Renaissance Village in Fort Wayne.
He was a palletizer at Falstaff & Berghoff Breweries.
Surviving are four daughters, Delores Crabill of Defiance, Ohio, Shirley Yong of Indianapolis, Carolyn Dreskell of Atlanta and Sandra Paxson of Fort Wayne; a brother, Edward of Decatur; three sisters, Marie Blow of Newton, Kan., Frances Glass of Fort Wayne and Esther Rekeweg of Houston; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
His wife, Eva C., preceded him in death.
Prayers will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mungovan & Sons Memorial Chapel, 2114 South Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1020 Capitol Ave., Fort Wayne.

Kenneth K. Wibel, 90
Kenneth K. Wibel, 90, who has relatives living in Bluffton, died Wednesday at his residence in Fort Wayne.
He was retired as a bus driver for Fort Wayne Transit.
A native and lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Mr. Wibel was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Spy Run Neighborhood Watch Association, lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of the Three Rivers Gem & Mineral Society.
Immediate survivors are three nephews, Richard Wibel of Huntington, Norman Wibel of Farmington, N.M., and Arden Wibel of Georgia.
There will be no funeral service or visitation hours.

Claude L. Harris, 80
Retired chief of a hospital maintenance department and a farmer, Claude L. Harris, 80, rural Liberty Center, died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday of a heart attack at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He had been ill since Wednesday, Aug. 8.
Mr. Harris retired in 1989 after 26 years with the maintenance department of Wells Community Hospital. He also was engaged in farming with a brother, Clyde, most of his life and had resided in Wells County most of his lifetime.
Mr. Harris was active in the Baptist Church at Liberty Center and was most recently serving as its treasurer. He was a graduate in 1938 of Liberty Center High School.
He was a veteran of World War II, during which he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of Bluffton American Legion Post 111.
He was born in Griggs County, N.D., Aug. 15, 1920 to Charles and Constance Thompson Harris. His marriage at Liberty Center on Aug. 22, 1943 was to Ruba Jane Garrett, who died June 15, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Donald L. Harris of Burke, Va.; three daughters, Cynthia A. Morphett of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Bruce (Patricia R.) Thornburgh of Vicksburg, Mich., and Sandra K. Harris of Liberty Center; a sister, Florence Harris of Meadowvale Care Center in Bluffton; two brothers, Clyde and William, both of Bluffton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A son, Lt. James Craig Harris, was killed in Vietnam in 1971, and two infant brothers and an infant sister are deceased.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Liberty Center Baptist Church with Bluffton Mayor Ted Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Bluffton with graveside rites by Grover Sheets American Legion Post 111.

A. Howard Howell, 85
A. Howard Howell, 85, who had resided in the Dillman area of Jackson Township for the last 34 years, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Memorial Home at Warren, where he had resided since 1994.
Mr. Howell retired in 1977 from Anaconda Wire & Cable Co. in Marion and was engaged for years as a farmer in Jackson Township.
He formerly served on the board of directors for Asbury Cemetery in Wells County and for the Mt. Zion Conservation Club. He was a member of the Dillman United Church of the Brethren.
He was born in Grant County Dec. 10, 1915 to George and Dollie Howell. His marriage on Feb. 14, 1937 in Liberty Township, Grant County, was to Mary Imo, who died June 19, 1998.
Surviving are three sons, Charles of Marion, David of Bluffton and Robert of Griffith; a daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Janet) Klefeker of Warren; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday will be at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, in Warren, with Rev. Lynn Mefferd officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery at Fairmount.

Ina G. Love, 95, a native of Huntington County, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Memorial Home at Warren.
She and her late husband farmed for many years in Jefferson Township in Huntington County. She was a member of the first graduating class, in 1925, from Jefferson Township High School.
Mrs. Love was a member of the Jefferson Center United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s organization.
She was born in Huntington County March 25, 1906 to Frank and Catherine Pinkerton. Her marriage on Aug. 25, 1927 in Jefferson Township was t o Charles J. Love, who died in 1963.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Lois) Walter of Warren; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Lorene Hill, and a sister are deceased.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday will be at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, in Warren with Pastor Kathie Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County.

Nellie F. Murray, who marked her 99th birthday Friday, Aug. 10, and who formerly resided at 521 South Johnson St., Bluffton, died at 6 a.m. today at Christian Care Center.
She was a homemaker and member of Hope Missionary Church.
She was born in Wells County Aug. 10, 1902, a daughter of James M. and Viola Sutton Harris.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Bryan of Geneva and Mrs. John (Crystal) Miller of Poneto; four sons, Earl of Seymour, Robert of Portland, Ned of Wyoming and Don of Hartford City; a sister, Henrietta Earhart of Berne; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday will be at Go odwin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Matt Hartsell officiating. Burial will be in Alberson Cemetery.

A native of Vera Cruz in Wells County, Helen P. Zehrung, 89, of rural Alexandria, died at 5:25 p.m. Sunday at Anderson Community Hospital of injuries sustained in an auto accident a week earlier.
She was a homemaker and remained active, exercising three times a week at a health club.
She born at Vera Cruz March 20, 1912 to Raymond E. and Dessie Elnora Mosure Reynolds. Her marriage at Bluffton on Jan. 25, 1930 was to George W. Zehrung, who died Nov. 26, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, George W. Zehrung of Pinellas, Fla., and Jimmy D. Zehrung of Anderson; three daughters, Marylyn Dickey of Frankton, Judy Cumberland of California and Carolyn Farmer of Winchester; a sister, Roseann Nestleroad of Florida; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A sister and a brother are deceased.

Marion C. “Clyde” Harter, 92, a salesman and machinist for many years, died at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday at Meadowvale Care & Rehab Center in Bluffton after an extended illness.
He formerly had resided at 1327 Clark Ave. in Bluffton.
He retired in 1978 from Hower Tool Co., where he worked as a machinist for 11 years. Earlier, he was a salesman for many years for Tom Carney Chevrolet in Bluffton and for National Mill & Supply in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Harter was a 1928 graduate of Petroleum High School and a member of the First Church of Christ in Bluffton.
He was born in Wells County Nov. 13, 1908 to Henry H. and Jessie England Harter. His marriage on July 26, 1930 was to Violet Collins, who died Sept. 24, 1985.
Surviving are a son, Wayne J. of Bluffton; a brother, Charles L. of Bluffton; and six grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Church of Christ with Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.

Brother of Mrs. Terry (Diana) Rush of Ossian, Mark W. Gipson, 44, died Saturday at his residence in Pensacola, Fla.
A former resident of Blue Lake, near Churubusco, he was employed 13 years at Sea Nymph in Syracuse, Ind., before moving to Florida five years ago.
Mr. Gipson was born in Columbia City June 13, 1957, a son of Rolland and Ellie Buckles Gipson. His formative years were spent at Blue Lake and he graduated in 1975 from Churubusco High School.
Surviving, in addition to the sister at Ossian, are his wife, Ramona; a daughter, Sara Gipson of Kendallville; his mother and stepfather, Ellie and Howard Lewellyn of Blue Lake; his father and stepmother, Rolland and Patricia Gipson of Blue Lake; a stepdaughter; a stepson; a half-brother, a stepbrother; and a niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by twin brothers and a half-brother.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sheets Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Robert Crouse officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Columbia City.

Paul H. Prible, 87
Paul H. Prible, 87, of Rochester, a teacher who began his educational career in his native Wells County, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mr. Prible taught in Wells County in 1938-39 after graduation in 1938 from Earlham College. His teaching career took him to Amboy in 1939-41, Howard County in 1946-48, and he taught math and science in Peru Junior and Senior High Schools from 1948 until his retirement in 1976. He secured a master’s degree in 1950 from Indiana University.
Following his retirement, Mr. Prible moved in 1976 to Lake Manitou and spent the next 23 winters in Bradenton, Fla.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an ensign and participating in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France.
He was elected to the Earlham College Hall of Fame in 1995, was a life member of the Peru Elks Lodge and a member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Miami County Teachers Association and the Friends Church in Amboy and attended the First Christian Church in Amboy.
Mr. Prible was born in Wells County Sept. 1, 1914 to Forrest and Dora Miller Prible. A first marriage on Aug. 14, 1943 was to Mary Elizabeth Hooper, who died Aug. 27, 1959; his second marriage on June 16, 1973 was to Pauline Brittai n Murden, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Dr. C. Ray Prible of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Edwin of Indianapolis and John of Wells County; two sisters, Mary Moses of Fort Wayne and Esther Prible of Wells County; and four grandchildren. A sister and a brother are deceased.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Friday will be at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home in Peru with Rev. Woody Slade officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery at Amboy.

His wife, Ruth, died in 1998.
Surviving are a son, David Edward; four daughters, Cynthia Hanna, Sharon Shipp, Marsha Verploegh and Deborah Carroll; two brothers, Mark and Richard “Bill”; a sister, Bonnie Bryan; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Marjorie E. Chronister Lenwell, 81, of Fort Wayne, mother of former Bluffton-Harrison M.S.D. Supt. Gary McMillen of Fort Wayne and stepmother of Marty Lenwell of Ossian, died Monday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Decatur, she was a clerical processor at Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. for more than 25 years,
Surviving, in addition to the son and stepson, are her husband, James E.; three other stepsons, Rick Lenwell of Fort Wayne, Chris Lenwell of San Francisco, and Kim Lenwell of Roanoke; a grandchild; and four stepgrandchildren. A son, Robert William McMillen, is deceased.

Shaneen Kay Meyer, 60, of Ossian, who was engaged as a day care provider for 30 years, died Wednesday at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
She was an auxiliary member of Gideons International and a member of Concerned Parent of Bi-County Services.
She was born in Allen County July 24, 1941 to Dallas and Ellen DePue Harrod. Her marriage at Zanesville in 1959 was to Melvin Meyer, who survives.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Meyer is survived by two daughters, Julie Meyer of Indianapolis and Michelle Meyer of Ossian.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the United Brethren in Christ Church at Zanesville with Pastor Thomas Datema officiating. Burial will be in Hoverstock Cemetery at Zanesville.

Ann L. Swisher, 76, widow of the late Bluffton City Councilman Richard R. Swisher, died at 6 a.m. today at Rex Medical Center at Raleigh, N.C. She had been in failing health several months.
Mrs. Swisher, following the death of her husband in 1977, worked three years at the former Swisher Lumber Co. and was a retired secretary from General Electric Co., where she worked seven years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bluffton and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She was a 1943 graduate of Bluffton High School and formerly resided at 316 West Cherry St.
She was born at Bluffton May 27, 1925 to Milton E. and Hilda Winteregg Schlotzhauer. Her marriage in Bluffton on Sept. 4, 1948 was to Richard R. Swisher, who died Nov. 6, 1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Tom (Beth) Everly of Cary, N.C.; a son, Scott R. of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Sarabell “Sussie” Heller of Bluffton and Mrs. Roger (Dorothy) Sawyer of North Manchester; and two grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jenna Everly.

A former resident of Huntington, Donald G. Will, 72, who had lived in Arizona since 1999, died at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday at the John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.
Mr. Will worked as a manager for Bob’s IGA from 1960 to 1969 and also for K-Mart Corp. at the firm’s Fort Wayne warehouse, from which he retired in 1991.
Mr. Will was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, during which he received the Korean Service Medal and a Bronze Star. He was a member of Veteran of Foreign War Post 2689 at Huntington.
He was born June 18, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Lester and Dolly Busch Will, and was a 1947 graduate of Columbia City High School.
Surviving are a son, Daniel of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Anisa Dunham of West Lafayette; a brother, Jack Will of Columbia City; and a sister, Judy Forrester of Churubusco. A son, James, and a brother are deceased.

Infant Kaitlin Rachelle Pontius died from delivery complications at Bluffton Regional Medical Center at 7:43 p.m. Thursday.
Parents of the infant are John and Amy (Moore) Pontius of Montpelier.
Other survivors include two sisters, Lauren N. and Mary A., and a brother, Andrew M., all of Montpelier.
Surviving grandparents are Kim and Ruth Pontius of Hartford City, Jean L. Moore of Hartford City , and Virgil W. Moore of Upland.
Private graveside services were to be held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier, with Rev. Frank Rodgers presiding.

Gerald Steven “Jerry” McAfee, 34, of rural Uniondale died Thursday at his residence.
He was employed as a C&C machine operator for National Tubing of Fort Wayne and he enjoyed fishing, boating and model cars.
Born Feb. 1, 1967, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Donald T. and Reba J. Shell McAfee of Ossian. His marriage on June 24, 2000, in Waterford, Mich., was to Nancy J. Fuller, who survives and resides in Decatur.
Other survivors include a son, Logan Virgil McAfee of Fort Wayne, a brother, James Tony McAfee of Almont, Mich., two sisters, Betty Jean McAfee of Fort Wayne and Angel C. McAfee of Oswega, N.Y., and grandparents Virgil and Christine Shell of London, Ky., and Lora Sharp of Ossian.

Eva Jeanette Whitman, 88
Eva Jeanette Whitman, 88, of Indianapolis, died Thursday following an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 19, 1912 in Fairmount to Benjamin and Florence Massey Timmons. She resided in Muncie until 1969 when she moved to Clewiston, Fla., for 24 years. She had resided in Indianapolis the past seven years.
Survivors include three daughters, Berniece Garner of Indianapolis; Mrs. Glenn (Phyllis) Williams of Muncie and Joyce Harvey of Indianapolis; three brothers, Jerry Timmons of Daleville, Fred Timmons of Lake Worth, Fla., and Howard Timmons of Muncie; eight grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John Whitman, and a sister.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Parson Mortuary in Muncie with Pastor Clifton Richardson of First Baptist Church of Alexandria officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie. Calling at t he funeral home Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Martha Magdaline Walker, 84
A retired bookkeeper and office secretary, Martha Magdaline Walker, 84, died at 12:46 p.m. Sunday following an extended illness at the United Methodist Memorial Home at Warren.
She had retired in 1979 after 34 years with the Wabash County REMC as its bookkeeper and office secretary. A resident of Wabash County most of her lifeti me, she entered the Warren home in August 1992.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Wabash.
A native of Wabash, she was born May 25, 1917 to William Edwards and Nellie Hipskind Walker. She never married.
Surviving are four nieces, Phyllis Henderson of Marion, Mrs. Dennis (Margaret) Hall of Chandler, Ariz., Elizabeth Myers Macinata of Boise, Id., and Mrs. Larry (Carol) Stouffer of Wabash, and two nephews, Jerry Benbow of Marion and Robert Benbow of Montpelier. A brother and two sisters are deceased.
Visitation hours at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, in Warren will be Tuesday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. after which a graveside service will follow at Falls Cemetery at Wabash in which family members will participate.
John P.W. Romey, 82
John P.W. Romey, 82, retired highway worker, died at 5:50 a.m. Saturday at Chalet Village Health & Rehab in Berne.
He had worked at the Bluffton Subdistrict of the Indiana Department of Highways.
Mr. Romey was a veteran of service with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was born at Geneva Oct. 26, 1918 to Grover Cleveland and Grace Victoria Hoppes Romey. He never married.
Surviving are two sisters, Marguerite Jones and Mrs. Glenn (Marjorie) Adams, both of Berne, and six nieces and nephews. A sister is deceased.
Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Downing Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Joseph Nass and Rev. John Randall officiating. Burial will be in Stahl Cemetery in Wells County,

George Raymond Fusselman, 75
A native of Ossian, George Raymond Fusselman, 75, of Fort Wayne, died Friday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He retired in 1990 from the differential repair department of Dana Corp. after 32 years.
Mr. Fusselman was an U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Madaline; a daughter, Tammy Cattron of Fort Wayne; a son, Jeffry of Fort Wayne; a brother, Luther of Huntington; two sisters, Margaret Helmke of Frostproof, Fla., and Ann Middling of Toledo; and two grandchildren. His first wife, Willene, died in 1990.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Fort Wayne, where calling hours are today from 2 t o 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Leo Cemetery at Leo-Cedarville.

Herbert K. Gerbers, 75, of Woodburn, died Sunday at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Woodburn and retired in 1975 after 25 years with International Harvester Co.
Mr. Gerbers was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are three sisters, Ellen Gerbers and Ruth Springer, both of Ossian, and Willadine of Garrett, and a brother, Willard of Woodburn.
Services at 2 p.m. Wednesday will be at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930E, New Haven, with calling for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens in Fort Wayne.

Shirley Ann Osborn, 58, died at 1:15 p.m. Monday at her home in Auburn.
She formerly worked at Keltsch Pharmacy in Auburn.
Mrs. Osborn was born in Fort Wayne Jan. 5, 1943. She was the daughter of Margaret Thomas-Brown of Hartford City.
Survivors include three sons, John D. Osborn of Chandler, Ariz., Rich A. Osborn of Auburn and Rodney C. Osborn of Wisconsin; a brother, Donald Thomas of Hartford City; nine grandchildren; and two aunts.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Feller Funeral Home in Waterloo, where calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.

A native of Uniondale, Maurice W. Chaney, 84, of Fort Wayne, died Monday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He worked for Essex Co. for 38 years before retiring in 1978. His wife, Mildred L., died in 1999 and a daughter also is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Bruce M. of Roanoke, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel on Covington Rd. in Fort Wayne.

John P. Conrad, 71, father of Bluffton resident John Jr., died Monday at his home in New Haven.
He was born in New York, N.Y., and was an electrical engineer for American Electric Power, retiring in 1991 after 35 years.
Surviving, in addition to the son in Bluffton, are his wife, Yvonne; five daughters, Susan F. Sneed of Carpentersville, Ill., Alice K. Kope of Copper Cove, Texas, Ann M. Redinger of Billings, Mont., and Mary K. Johnson and Amy L. Sikes, both of Fort Wayne; three other sons, Gregory A. of Fort Wayne, Steven M. of Leo-Cedarville and Andrew E. of Fort Irwin, Calif.; a sister, Alice K. Conrad of White Plains, N.Y.; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church in New Haven with prayers 45 minutes before services at E. Harper & Sons Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930E. Entombment will be in Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne.

Lucile Meyer, 93
Lucile Meyer, 93, of Huntington, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington.
Mrs. Meyer worked for many years as a cook and waitress at Schroeder’s Drive-In and the Huntington Moose Lodge. She also worked for 12 years at Bircraft Plastics in Huntington.
During the 1930s, Mrs. Meyer, a pianist, played for the WPA concerts held in Hier’s Park. She attended the Pilchers Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was a 50-year member of the Ladies of the Moose in Huntington and Rebekah Lodge 37 in Andrews and was a member of the Grandmothers Club in Huntington.
She was born in Warren May 10, 1908, a daughter of Charles and Lina Hart Lynn. Her marriage in Huntington on Aug. 31, 1925 was to Clifford “Tippy” Meyer, who died April 10, 1963.
Surviving are a son, Robert L. Meyer of Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. James (Jean E.) Karst of Huntington; a brother, Evan Lynn of Huntington; a sister, Helen Cunningham of Huntington; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Russell Buzzard officiating.

Lois M. Rody, 81
Lois M. Rody, 81, of Peru, a former teacher in the Bluffton school system, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru.
Mrs. Rody was a 1942 graduate of Ball State Teachers College (now Ball State University) with a degree in home economics and special and physical education.
She taught over a period of 15 years at Bluffton Junior High School, Rochester, Bunker Hill, LaPaz, Northwestern, and Lewis Cass High Schools. She taught also at Victory, Riverview and Butler Elementary Schools.
Mrs. Rody was home service director for Magic Chef advertising department in Cleveland, Ohio, and for Wolf & Dessauer Appliance Store in Fort Wayne and for Citizens Gas Co. in Adrian, Mich. She owned and operated Custom Kitchen Mart in Adrian and Town and Country Kitchens in Peru from 1967 to 1970.
She was a past member and secretary of the Miami Arts Guild and the Miami County Choraleers, a past member of the American Association of University Women and of Business & Professional Women. She was a member of the National Education Association, and the St. Charles Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She was born in Bluffton April 8, 1920, a daughter of Rufus and Julia Sheets Decker. She was married in Nashville, Ind., on June 30, 1966 to Leo M. Rody, who died April 15, 2000. She previously was married in July 1948 at Adrian to Robert R. Bailey an d in August 1956 at Peru to Robert Lee Smith, both of whom are deceased.
Surviving are a son, John (Bailey) Smith of Bloomington; two stepsons, James Rody of Lafayette and Martin Rody of Lancaster, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Judy (Smith) Derr of Larwill; nine stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a nephew; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Decker and Claude Decker, and a sister, Nola Morris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Peru with Rev. Philip S. Haslinger officiating. Burial will be in Emmanuel Church Cemetery at Rockford, Ind.
Calling hours at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home in Peru are today from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m.

Mother of Danny R. Sollis of Liberty Center, Jerry Ann Henderson, 57, of Decatur, died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday at Adams County Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
She was a cook at the Back 40 Junction in Decatur and also enjoyed singing with several area country/western bands.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of the Church of God and the Women of the Moose at Decatur.
She was born in Van Wert, Ohio, Sept. 21, 1943 to Donald A. and Marguerite Henkle Lee.
Surviving, in addition to the son in Liberty Center, are another son, Jessie L. Henderson of Decatur; a daughter, Lori A. Abercrombie of Fort Wayne; a brother, John A. Lee of Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Roger (Bobbie) Mauller and Mrs. Eugene (Kristine) Blume, both of Decatur; and one grandson. A granddaughter is deceased.
Services at 2 p.m. Saturday will be at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home in Decatur and burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

Esther L. Pease, 75
Esther L. Pease, 75, a private instructor in piano and organ for many years who resided at 411 West Wiley Ave., died at 11:20 p.m. Friday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Pease instructed numerous students of the community, sometimes as many as 40 to 60 per week. She also was the full time pianist and organist for First Baptist Church for more than 50 years, dating back to 1940.
Born in Decatur, she had resided most of her life in Wells County. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church, Psi Iota Xi, and the Order of Eastern Star Crescent Chapter 48.
She was born Aug. 22, 1925, a daughter of Harvey H. and Agnes Dutcher Ginter. Her marriage at Bluffton on April 14, 1946 was to John J. Pease, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Noel (Gloria) Phegley of Columbia City and Mrs. Herb (Janet) Heyerly of Bluffton; a son, Tom R. of Carrollton, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Myers of Bluffton; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. A son, James Alan, died in 1963, and a brother, Irvin Ginter, in 1982.
Services will be at First Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Bud Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Wallace P. Smith, 82
Former mayor of Huntington, Wallace P. Smith, 82, died at 8 p.m. Friday at his residence in Huntington.
Mr. Smith served as Huntington’s mayor from 1976 to 1979. Prior to his election as mayor, he served for 20 years with the Huntington Police Department, holding the ranks of patrolman, detective and chief, the latter position served in 1956 under Mayor Roy Howell and from 1960 to 1968 under Mayor Robert Ambler.
He was a 1939 graduate of Huntington High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and later in stateside service with the Military Police.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 77 in Huntington, secretary/treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, American Legion Post 7, Exchange Club and Huntington County Historical Society. He attended the East State Street Church of God.
Mr. Smith was born in Huntington July 25, 1919, the son of Tine and Florence Snearley Smith. His marriage in Anderson on March 6, 1944 to Ila Mae Gorman, who survives.
Additional survivors are a son, Wallace P. Jr. of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Gail Nix of Fort Wayne and Nolene Smith, who is serving with the Merchant Marines; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel and interment will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery at Huntington.
Visitation times at the funeral home are today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m..

A resident of Liberty Center most of his lifetime, Roscoe A. Rohrer, 87, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Memorial Home in Warren. He was retired from Dana Corp. in Marion and had attended schools at Peru.
Mrs. Rohrer was born at Peru Sept. 5, 1913 to Wayne and Cora Keller Rohrer. His marriage at New Haven on Jan. 2, 1943 was to Wahilla Merriman, who survives.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton with Pastor Herbert Edwards officiating.

Cindy Lynn Jackson, 44
A nurse practitioner, Cindy Lynn Jackson, 44, died at 4:34 p.m. Friday at her residence in Fort Wayne, where she had resided 10 years.
She was engaged as a nurse practitioner at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne and previously worked at Caylor-Nickel Hospital in Bluffton and at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
Miss Jackson was a 1975 graduate of Huntington North High School and attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. She was a member of ISNA, CAPNI and Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing.
She was born in Blackford County May 23, 1957 to Wayne Lee and Mary Ann Hunnicutt Jackson, both of whom survive and reside at Warren. She never married.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her maternal grandmother, Delores Hunnicutt of Montpelier; three sisters, Mrs. Dan (Peggy) Whinery and Mrs. David (Jo Ellen) Keller, both of Warren, and Cristina Jackson of Clearwater, Fla.; two nephews and two nieces.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glancy Funeral Homes, H. Brown & Son Chapel, in Warren, where calling hours are today from 4 to 8 p.m.
Rev. Kathie Jones will officiate at services and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Warren.

Tom E. Jackson, 54
Tom E. Jackson, 54, of rural Huntington, died at 5:40 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Administration Northern Indiana Health Care Facility in Marion. He was a factory worker for Magneteck in Huntington and Wayne Metals in Markle.
He was born in Fort Wayne March 26, 1947 to Frank and Eileen DePugh Jackson. His marriage in Fort Wayne on Nov. 17, 1979 was to Betty Leist, who survives.
Additional survivors include his mother, Elaine Johnson of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ray Jackson of Zanesville and Robert Jackson of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Rosie Jackson and Karen Mertz, both of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Edward.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel.
Visitation hours at the funeral chapel will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Berneice McBride, 88
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. today for Berneice McBride, 88 of Markle, with burial in Markle Cemetery.
Mrs. McBride died at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Visitation hours were Sunday and the funeral service was at Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel.
She had worked for Sealtest in Huntington, retiring in 1968. She was a graduate in 1931 of East Union High School in Wells County and was a member of the Markle United Methodist Church.
Born in Wells County July 8, 1913, she was the daughter of Charles and Hazel Graham Folk. Her marriage in Huntington on July 20, 1935 was to Kenneth McBride, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Judy) Mower of Markle; five sisters, Dorma Greene and Faye Wilson, both of Markle, Maxine Collins of Fort wayne, Margaret Furnas of Florida and Betty Rodenbeck of Huntington; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Two sisters and a brother are deceased.

Frances L. Bradbury Freeland, 86, of Bradenton, Fla., a native of Wells County, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. Mrs. Freeland was a homemaker and had worked at several odd jobs over the years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oneco, Fla., and was a 1932 graduate of East Union Center High School in Wells County. She was born Aug. 20, 1914 in Wells County to Ira and Etta Farrell Smuts. Her first marriage on May 7, 1934 in Zanesville was to Edward R. Bradbury and her second marriage on May 7, 1978 in Bradenton was to Don O. Freeland. Both husbands are deceased. Surviving are two sons, Robert Bradbury of Parrish, Fla., and John Bradbury of Bradenton; a daughter, Louise Sadler of Uniondale; two brothers, Jake Smuts of Tyler, Texas, and Estal Smuts of Fort Wayne; a sister, Josephine Crowl of Bradenton; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A son, Thomas Bradbury, died the past May and eight!

Robert A. Melching, 86
Robert A. Melching, 86, of Ossian, died today at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired general contractor and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a member of Bluffton American Legion Post III and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Melching was born at Ossian June 13, 1915 to Alva and Ethel Roberts Melching. His marriage at Ossian on Oct. 4, 1942 was to Frances J. Mackey, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Robert D. of Ossian and Douglas W. of Muskegon, Mich.; a brother, Dr. Harold W. Melching of El Paso, Texas; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Homes, Ossian Chapel, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Lyle Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian with military graveside rites conducted by Grover Sheets American Legion Post 111.

A former resident of the Ossian area, Howard R. Smith, 89, died early today at the Shepherd of the Hills Nursing Home at Kendallville.
A retired farmer, Mr. Smith formerly resided also in the Yoder and Fort Wayne areas.
He was lifetime member of the IOOF Lodge in Fort Wayne and the United Methodist Church at Ossian.
He was born in Allen County Sept. 11, 1911 to George H. and Elizabeth Middaugh Smith. His marriage at Ossian on March 12, 1938 was to Edna M. Vestal, who died July 5, 1999.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Connie E.) Lake of Wolcottville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother, John, is deceased.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian Chapel, with Dr. Robert Priest officiating. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
Visitation hours will be at the funeral chapel Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. Memorials to the Ossian United Methodist Church.
Frances L. Bradbury Freeland—Memorial Service
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 9 at the United Methodist Church in Zanesville for Frances L. Bradbury Freeland, 86, a native of Wells County who died July 28 in Florida.
A private burial service will take place at a separate time at the Hoverstock Cemetery at Zanesville.

Pauline V. Rogge, 97
A native of Wells County, Pauline “Polly” V. Smith Rogge, 97, of Lafayette, died at 2:14 p.m. Monday in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.
She retired in 1974 as a librarian from Bryan, Ohio, Junior High School after 15 years. She had attended Bluffton High School, DePauw University, Indiana University and the University of Utah.
Mrs. Rogge was born at Poneto Feb. 4, 1904. A first marriage in 1926 was to Hubert F. Smith, who died in 1962; her second marriage in 1979 was to Howard W. Rogge, who died in 1987.
Mrs. Rogge was a member and served as a deacon and elder in the First Presbyterian Church at Bryan and was a member of the Bryan Fortnightly Study Club, Kappa Kappa Gamma National Sorority, Williams County Panhellenic Association and Ohio Library Association.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Keith V. Smith of West Lafayette, and two grandchildren.
A private family service will be conducted by Rev. James Dunn and burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery at Bluffton.

Marjorie J. Holmberg, 69, retired telephone operator, died Sunday at Community Care Center in Huntington.
Born in Fort Wayne, she retired in 1992 from General Telephone as an operator after 19 years and also had worked at Indiana Bell Telephone for 13 years.
Surviving is a son, Robert I. Holmberg II of Ellisville, Mo.
Services at 1 p.m. Thursday will be at Bailey-Love Mortuary in Huntington, where calling hours will be for two hours prior to services.
Burial will be in Markle Cemetery.

A Huntington County farmer, Marion B. Urschel Jr., 65, died Monday at his residence in the Bippus area.
In addition to farming, he was a maintenance man with Huntington County Farm Bureau Co-op for 27 years and also had worked in maintenance at Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington for 10 years.
Surviving are his wife, Susan A.; two sons, Chris and Eric, both of Bippus; a daughter, Amy Frick of Zanesville; and three grandchildren.
Services at 10 a.m. Saturday will be at St. John’s United Church of Christ at Bippus with visitation prior to services. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Kevin P. Reinhold, 46
A former resident of Bluffton, Kevin P. Reinhold, 46, son of former Wells County Extension agent Hubert “Hugh” Reinhold, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
A resident of Angola, he was a lineman for Northern Indiana Public Service Co. and was a native of Indianapolis.
Mr. Reinhold lived in Bluffton with his parents, Hubert P. and Marie P. Reinhold, while his father served from 1958 to 1964 as Purdue Extension Service agricultural agent for Wells County.
Surviving are his parents, who reside at Goshen; his wife, Cheryl; four sons, Michael, Daniel, John and Paul, all of Angola; two daughters, Sarah and Anna Reinhold, both also of Angola; a brother, Mark of Mishawaka; and a sister, Rachelle Sattler of Two Harbors, Minn.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Missionary Church at Angola. Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery at Angola.

Richard O. McIntire, 84
Richard O. McIntire, 84, a farmer and retired Marion factory worker, died at 2:35 p.m. Thursday at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Mr. McIntire, who resided in rural Warren, retired in 1979 from Dana Corp., where he had worked 23 years. He also had engaged in farming in Huntington County most of his life. He was a veteran of U.S. Army service during World War II, from July 15, 1941 to June 23, 1945, seeing action in the European Theater Campaign with the 3rd Armored Division, 1st Army. Mr. McIntire was a 1935 graduate of Chester Center High School. He was born in Jackson Township, Well County, July 18, 1917 to Charles A. and Edna Byall McIntire. His marriage at Hartford City on Dec. 19, 1941, was to Francile Kariger, who survives. Herschel W. Kershner, 79, of Montpelier, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday at Blackford County Hospital in Hartford City. He was retired from 3M Corp. in Hartford City and formerly had worked at Warner Gear in Muncie. Born in Harrison Township, Blackford County, April 20, 1922, to Alfred and Lena Spears Kershner, he resided in his early years in Wells County, attending Chester Center High School. He was married on June 18, 1940 to Opal Marie Norton and the couple had lived for many years at a lake cottage on Irish Lake. Mrs. Kershner died Jan. 17, 1992. Mr. Kershner was a veteran of the U.S. Marines during World War II, serving from March 2, 1944 to Nov. 29, 1945. Following his Marine service, he returned to Montpelier, where he lived most of his lifetime. A former resident of Ossian, Ethel B. Hendry, 94, of Greenfield, Ind., died Sunday at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Hendry, a homemaker, was engaged for 15 years as a telephone operator in Ossian and w as employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne and as a greeter at Elzey-Haggard Funeral Home.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ossian.
She was born in Wells County March 19, 1907 to James and Ida Shaffer Sowards. Her marriage at Bluffton on Dec. 4, 1926 was to Robert D. Hendry, who died July 5, 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Maxine) Baumgardner of Greenfield; a sister, Arminda Kreigh of Orland; four grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. A stepson, Robert D. Jr., and two brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in Ossian. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian. Visitation hours at the funeral home will be for two hours prior to services.

A graveside service was conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton for Sara Price, 91, who died at 10 p.m. Friday at Hempfield Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg, Pa.
Death followed an extended illness.
A homemaker, Mrs. Price had resided in Greensburg, Pa., since 1933 with her husband, James A., who survives and to whom she was married in Columbia City on Aug. 28, 1933. She was born Jan. 28, 1910 in Butler, Pa., to Max and Bessie Dubofsky Arnovitz.
Mrs. Price was a member of Temple Emmanuel in Greensburg.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three brothers, Samuel Arnovitz of Buffalo, N.Y., Arthur Arnovitz of Butler, Pa., and Presley Arnovitz of Nashville, Tenn, and three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Alice ) Kaplan and Mrs. Pearl Swartz, both of Lake Worth, Fla., and Mrs. Bernard (Marlyn) Gardner of Elmhurst, Ill. One brother is deceased.
Rabbi Richard Safran officiated at rites. Arrangements were made by Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton. There were no calling hours.
Darrell B. Underhill, 87
A retired railroad conductor, Darrell B. Underhill, 87, of Huntington, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday at Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Underhill retired in 1974 as a conductor for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad after 31 years of service.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 85, Amity Masonic Lodge 483, Order of the Eastern Star Floral Chapter 75, and York Rite, all in Huntington, and the Scottish Rite Valley in Fort Wayne.
He was a graduate in 1932 of Huntington High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Underhill was born in Uniondale Aug. 7, 1913 to Carlin M. and Fern Newhard Underhill. His marriage in Huntington on June 24, 1945 was to Mary Wagner, who died April 11, 1997.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. George (Avis) Park of Uniondale, and several nieces and nephews. A brother and a sister are deceased.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Evangelical United Methodist Church at 1000 Flaxmill Road in Huntington with Rev. Marti Lundy officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery at Ossian.

Donald E. McDonald, 70
Donald E. McDonald, 70, who has a son residing in Poneto and a sister in Bluffton, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday at his rural Montpelier residence.
Mr. McDonald retired in 1991 after 31 years from Fisher Body-General Motors Co. in Marion. He also was former owner of the McDonald Construction Co. in Montpelier.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, receiving the Korean Service Medal with three combat stars. He served from May 28, 1951 to May 8, 1953 and held the rank of corporal.
He was a 1948 graduate of Chester Center High School in Wells County. He was a board member and barn superintendent of the Blackford County 4-H Fair.
Mr. McDonald was a member of Masonic Lodge 600 at Montpelier, serving as a past master, Scottish Rite Valley and Mizpah Shrine in Fort Wayne, and the Blackfor d County Shrine Club.
He was born in Blackford County Oct. 31, 1930 to J. Ernest and Kathryn I. Schwarzkopf McDonald. His marriage at Montpelier on Oct. 20, 1951 was to Elizabeth Ann Howard, who died Dec. 8, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Gary of Poneto and Bryan of Upland; two daughters, Debbie McDonald and Mrs. Dannie (Colene) Hall, both of Montpelier; a brother, Ronald of Warren; two sisters, Vallis Bales of Bluffton and Mrs. Tom (Karen) Blevins of Montpelier; a friend, Connie Whitsell of Hartford City; and seven grandchildren. Robert D. Davis, 64, of Fort Wayne, died at 10:17 p.m. Sunday at his residence. He was a factory worker at Navistar heavy duty truck manufacturing in Springfield, Ohio.
Mr. Davis was a veteran of service with the U.S. Army and was a member of Eagles Lodge 3164 and Amvets in Ohio.
He was born in Churubusco May 11, 1937 to Robert S. and Iva Helen Fudge Davis. He never married.
Surviving are two sisters, Anna Music of Fort Wayne and Irene Sue Goodman of Parker City, and several nieces and nephews.

He was employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 21 years.

She was born in Adams County Oct. 17, 1924 to Jesse and Jeanette A. Ineichen Lybarger. Her marriage at Geneva on Nov. 21, 1943 was to C. Eugene Jones, who died Jan. 12, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Terry L. of Bryant and Von A. of Geneva; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph D. (Betty) Seffernick and Mrs. David (Marsha L.) Hirschy, both of Geneva, and Mrs. Larry (Sue) Gilkison of Middletown; two brothers, Frank Lybarger of Decatur and Dave Lybarger of Bluffton; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. John J. Hofstetter, 59
John J. Hofstetter, 59, known as “JJ,” a resident of Rainbow Lake at Geneva, died at 8:53 a.m. Monday at Jay County Hospital in Portland.
He was employed as a driver for Cheesman Trucking Co. of Fort Recovery, Ohio.
Mr. Hofstetter was a member of the Geneva Volunteer Fire Department and the Moose Lodge at Decatur. He was a member of the Cross United Church of Christ at Berne and had been employed at Shell Service in Geneva and Rainbow Garage, also at Geneva. He was engaged as a stock car race driver.
He was born in Adams County Feb. 13, 1942, a son of Ernest and Twila Sanders Hofstetter. His marriage at Rainbow Lake on Sept. 30, 2000 was to Nancy Derrickson Affol der, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, John J. Hofstetter IV of Geneva; three stepsons, Fred Affolder and Bill Affolder, both of Geneva, and Robert Affolder of Rome City; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Allen (Linda) Bailey of Pennville and Rita Affolder of Bluffton; three brothers, Carl D. and Calvin E., both of Geneva, and Jerry L. of Bewicia, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Ernesta) Weidler of Angola; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Virginia Gene Neuenschwander, 81
A former teacher at Lancaster and at Petroleum, Virginia Gene Neuenschwander, 81, died at 8 a.m. today at Christian Care Retirement Center.
She formerly resided in Berne for 40 years and was a member of the Cross United Church of Christ in Berne.
Mrs. Neuenschwander was an elementary teacher at Lancaster Elementary School for 30 years and a teacher at Petroleum High School for seven years. She also taught at Bluff Point in Jay County for two years.
She earned a master’s degree at Ball State University.
She was born in Jay County Feb. 9, 1920 to Clynas and Edith Frank Flesher.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty C. Neuenschwander of Berne; a son, Steven K. Neuenschwander of Berne; a sister, Mrs. Millard (Betty) Schwartz of Portland; a brother, Robert Flesher of Portland; and two grandchildren.

Retired farmer Raymond E. Black, 86, rural Geneva, died at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
In addition to his farming career, Mr. Black was a school bus driver for 27 years for South Adams Schools.
He attended the New Corydon United Methodist Church.
He was born in Mercer County, Ohio, Jan. 4, 1915 to Noah R. and Matilda Stoll Black. His marriage at Chattanooga, Ohio, took place on Sept. 22, 1939, to Kathryn “Kate” Carr, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Danny (Connie) Smuts of Geneva; a brother, LeRoy Black of Celina, Ohio; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Patricia Brewster, is deceased.

Dan L. Mullett, 50, died suddenly in his sleep Tuesday at his home in Columbia City. His wife, Susie, who survives, formerly taught English at Southern Wells High School.
Mr. Mullett, who was born in Huntington, was a teacher for three years at O.J. Neighbors Elementary School in Wabash and was principal at Mary Raber Elementary School for 11 years, Marshall Middle School for several years, Thorncreek School and Northern Heights Elementary School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Braden McLean Mullett and Wesley Dav id Mullett, both of Columbia City; his parents, Jack and Gloria Mullett of Columbia City; and three sisters, Nancy Havens of Elkhart, Susan Corbin of Decorah, Iowa, and Jean Newton of Decatur.

Mother of Mrs. Stan (Phyllis) Makowski of Bluffton, Dorothy Beilke, 96, died Thursday at the Golden Age Nursing and Rehab Center in Tomahawk, Wis.
Mrs Beilke resided in Indiana from 1969 to 1988, when she returned to Tomahawk, where she was born and resided much of her lifetime.
She was a former member of the Gray Ladies and the Book Review Club. From Tomahawk, she had moved to Wausau and to Minneapolis until 1962 when she retired and moved back to Tomahawk.
Mrs. Beilke was born June 9, 1905 to James P. and Leta Smith. Her marriage in Waukegan, Ill., on June 18, 1923 was to Arthur H. Beilke, who died in 1969.
Surviving, in addition to the daughter in Bluffton, are another daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Jean) Sadlon of Racine, Wis.; 26 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two nieces and two nephews. An infant brother and two sisters are deceased.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomahawk with Rev. Edward Powell officiating. Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau.
Calling hours at the St. Mary’s Church Corpus Christi Center will be Monday from 9 a.m. until time for services.
The Krueger & Sons Funeral Home in Tomahawk is in charge of arrangements.
Infant Donalee Jo Lathem
Infant Donalee Jo Lathem, daughter of Matthew Glenn and Amy Suzette Lathem of Muncie, died Wednesday at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Surviving also are her grandparents, Allen L. and Donna L. Bole of Hartford City and Robbie Lee Lathem of Muncie; and her great-grandmother, Pauline Holeman of Selma.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Asbury Cemetery in Wells County. There will be no calling.
Memorials to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
Arrangements are by Keplinger Funeral Home in Hartford City.

I'm needing some information on a Murder that took place in St. Paul on 9 Jan 1882. I'm trying to find the parents of John Walton.
I have a few news articels from the Shelby Democrat in Shelby Co. IN. I can't seem to find his obit. Any help on this would be so helpful.
Where can I get an death cert. on him or did they record them at this time?

I am so happy to finally find some mention of my great-great grandfather, William Searles. He is buried in Mt. Etna Cemetery in Mt. Etna., Indiana, as are his wife and many of his children. My father Nathan Francis Searles was born in Marion, Indiana.

My grandfather was Nile J. Mosburg he was born 25 Feb. 1901 I believe in Custer City, Okla. He died on 24 May 1973 in Beaver, Okla. He is buried in Blue Mound Cemetery. in Beaver County,Okla. He married Edith Wing on 23 Sept 1923. His mother was Dora Mossburg, born in 1877 and died 1925 and is buried in the Clearlake Cemetery in Beaver County, OKla Her Parents Isaac and Emma Mossburg are also buried in the Clearlake Cemetery. Isaac was born in 1849 and died in 1941. Emma was born in 1868 and died in 1939 It seems my grandfather droped the 2nd s in Mossburg some time. Any information I can get will be greatly appreciated. I believe Isaac may be the son of Henry and Rebecca Mossburg, but I'm not sure.

I have a copy of the 1850 Census of Wells County, In page 367A, 367B that shows the Mossburgs living there. It has Jane age 61 and then Hiram 26 Ethalinds 14,James 23,Isabella 25,Henry 28,Rebecca 27, Elizabeth 8 1/2, Sarah 2 ans Mary Jane 3. I looked Jane Mossburg up on Ancestry.com. It showed her Married to Henry William Mossburg born 1777 1n Baden, Germany. He came to America at 6 months. Her name was Jane "Jennie" Thrailkill. It said he was inthe was of 1812 as a chaplain,. He served in Captain John Spencer C. of Ohio Spies.and under General harrison for 2 years. It also showed that his father was William Henry Mossburg married to Mary??? William Henry was marriedin Baden Germany in abt.1746 and died in 1794 in the Revolutionary war. Hope this helps You can get on Ancestry .com and get the complete story
