Nancy Coons is said to be the daughter of John Coons (who I am seeking information about) mentioned in a previous post.

I am looking for information about Coon/Koontz/Koons/Kuntz family that moved to the Fairfield/Ross/Pickaway County, Ohio area in the late 1790's or very early 1800's.
George Coon (PA, 1786) (Hocking Twp, Fairfield County, OH 1820 census Koontz, 1830 census Coon) married Mary Burket North there in 1808. I believe the family lived in Pickaway county until 1813 and then moved to Fairfield County in about 1813. George had brothers Samuel and Jacob. Samuel married an Elizabeth North (possibly a cousin of Mary).
I have a history from Larry Newhouse that indicates a John Coons moved to Ohio along with Newhouse's and Moore's:
Excerpt from a paper entitled "Mary Monnet", by E. Pauline Brittain-Johnson, presented before the Delaware County, Ohio Historical Society, February 25, 1952, provided to me by Larry Newhouse:
Anthony Newhouse II, was the third son born to Anthony Newhouse I and wife, born on February 10, 1772, in Loudoun Co., Virginia. He was four years old when his father enlisted in the Revolutionary Cause and only eight years old when his father died in service. He remained with his mother and helped in the care of other children until 1784. Then at the age of twelve he enlisted in the army ordered out by General Washington, for supression of the Whiskey Rebellion - in Western Pennsylvania under the command of General Lee of Virginia. The next year being discharged, with honor, he began to engage in business of wagon wheel construction, and went to Old Red Stone Fort, Fayette Co., Penn. He married the eldest daughter of John Coons, Nancy by name, on March 28, 1799, and it was from this place in 1800 Anthony Newhouse II and his young wife, Nancy, his father-in-law, John Coons, wife and family and another man, Henry Moore and his wife all moved to the Ohio Territory to take up t!
heir land grants. Henry Moore and John Coons were brothers-in-law. They went from Fayette County, Penn. to the Ohio River in Virginia.
There Anthony put his wife and goods with the other two families on an old fashioned reel boat (the only boat then running on the Ohio River.) John Coons and Anthony Newhouse II rode their horses, driving theirstock before them. They took the Ganes Track - a road cut out from Wheeling, W. Virginia by a man named Ebeneezer Ganes and for the cutting of this road Ganes received from the Government three sections of land.
The family of Anthony Newhouse II and others followed the Ohio River to the mouth of the Scioto River, then transferred to the old Peergan boat and went up the Scioto River to Chillicothe where Anthony and Mr. John Coons met them.
>From there they went to Scippio Creek, near Pickaway Co., Ohio, and built their cabins close together, it being all wilderness.
As there had been no survey to that time, all land was government territory, but Pickaway County was first to organize into a county in the state of Ohio. As soon as Anthony Newhouse reached Chillicothe,
Ohio he made his request and paid for his 160 acres at $1 per acre of the government land."
I am hoping to find 1) a connection between John Coons (who I beleive may be the father of George Coon), 2) where this family came from before moving to Ohio and any other information that may help find ancestors.
Thanks,
Raymond Coon
