Good afternoon,
I have no information about my Great-Grandfather OLIVER PERRY JONES parents or siblings. That is my quest. Are you asking if my Great-Grandfather was in the U.S. - Mexican War (1846-1848)? I am almost certain that he would not have been in that War because he was discharged with a disability from the Civil War just previous to the US-Mexican War.. (see my dates on my first posting).
Do you have any names or dates that would tie my Great-Grandfather to the Jones family that you are researching? Did this SAMUEL JONES JR have a son named OLIVER PERRY JONES?
I would be interested in any information you might share. Thank you for your interest.
M.

Do you know if your O. P. Jones was the son of Samuel Jones, Jr.? The one we're looking for was in the Mexican War, died in Pueblo, and supposedly had a large family.
That's all the info we have. It's from an old Biographical Record of Ogle County, IL. My mother in law has been searching for his desc for a long time.
If you think our Oliver Perry is YOUR Oliver Perry, let us know.
Thanks,
Leslie

I am a descendant of Daniel & Catharine and have lots of information to share. I'm related through this line:
Daniel>Amos Grant Hostetler>Dorence U. Hostetler>Donavan H. Hostetler>Joan E. Hostetler (me).
I have family photographs, a family bible, some correspondence, and quite a few family stories. Our branch of the family lived in Monroe Twp. (near Sidney), Kosciusko County. Are you a descendant of Amanda (Hostetler) Smith?
I look forward to hearing from you.

I recently traced my direct line of descendents back to John Lawrence from Watertown. I am just beginning my research and would be very interested in learning more about the line of descendents mentioned in the book you have that predates John back to 1100's. I have in my possession a book published in 1855 entitled "Diary and Correspondence of the late Amos Lawrence" edited by his son, William R. Lawrence. There is a hand-written inscription to George Prescott as a Christmas present from his mother dated 12/20/1855. This book contains journal entries and letters from Amos Lawrence regarding his family, business, and contributions as a philanthropist. The opening page of book mentions his decendency from John and Elizabeth in Watertown, arriving in this country approximately 1635.
