I, for one, would buy such a CD. There is a company in Livingston
County, MO that has started such a project for cemeteries there. If you
want to see what they are doing, the URL is: http://www.cemphoto.com/

Hello, I would be interested in a listing of all Wells co. cemeteries.
I beleive I would prefer it in book form. Some times you have family
other than the known name that you learn about later and if you have the
complete listing its easier to check out. Nancy Willis
Some family names BURGESS, CHALFANT, RICHARDSON
Connie,
Sign me up for the books on the cemeteries in Wells County. I would like to
see all the cemeteries canvassed and printed, either book form or CD's or
both. If you are planning this for the genealogical society you might make
more sales in book form and keeping the cemeteries separate. A CD would be
nice for those who use the computer.
I belong to the Warren County, Ohio Genealogical Society and have purchased
about eight or nine cemetery books for that county. They grouped some of the
smaller cemeteries together, but the larger cemeteries were in separate
books. I have one large volume of Seneca County, Ohio Cemeteries. There are
91 cemeteries and 15 townships in that county and the cemetery book is 667
pages plus 408 pages for the index and a supplement which is 45 more pages.
It is a hardback volume and is very heavy. I don't remember what I paid for
this volume in 1997.
Another project that is most useful to genealogist is the abstracting of
newspaper obituaries. Harold Felty, a genealogist in southern Illinois
published two large volumes of obituaries for people listed in the newspapers
for that county. Mr. Felty's books are titled "LEGACY OF KIN, HAMILTON
COUNTY, ILLINOIS, VOL 1 1859-1957, VOL II 1958-1992. Each volume has an
Index A (names of those who died) and Index B (names of those listed in the
obituary) plus he gave reference to marriage records found in Hamilton
County, for those listed in the Index A. These volumes sold for about $90.00
each when I purchased mine. Mr. Felty, now deceased, will always be
remembered by those who research in that county of IL. His wife has given
the Southern IL Genealogical Society authority to reprint these volumes and
they will sell for $100.00 per volume. The SIG Society are planning to add a
third volume to bring this project up-to-date.
All the cemeteries in my county have been canvassed by our genealogical
society and those are printed in separate books.
Darlene
I would be interested in purchasing the listings in any format you want to
present them, preferably the one that would be least expensive. I would like
to have all the listings.

How many would be interested in purchasing a book or CD listing all burials
in Wells Co?
We are wondering if there would be a market for such a resource that could
be purchased.
Would you rather have all cemeteries on one CD or in one book? Or have them
separated to purchase?
Thanks for any input you may have or suggestions.

Pres.
Mary Ellen,
I don't know if you are looking at an index or if you have a copy of the
actual military papers. If you are looking at an index they are always
subject to error (typo etc). If you have a copy of his military papers then
I would look for the history of that unit to see how they traveled, and the
battles their units were in.
I recommend that researchers request copies of the pension papers before they
request military papers, because there is so much more information. If he
had a family they probably applied for a pension right after he died,
especially if there were minor children. Pension Record Index for the Civil
War is listed on Ancestry.com, and I am assuming he fought for the Union.
Otherwise the some states paid the Confederate veteran their pensions.

There is a Munfordville, KY traveling from Elizabethtown, KY south on
Interstate 65.
Does anyone have information that can expound on or clarify
the following?
Lorenzo D. Harvey -- Company G, 1001st IN Infantry died at
Mumfordsville, KY 2 Nov 1862. Also another source says he
died at Murfreesboro, TN.
Also, I found that the 101st was from Wabash. As LD lived in
Murray, how might he heve ended up in that unit? He had a
large number of family members in other units nearby. His
uncle was in the 53rd.
Thanks,
Mary Ellen

Looking for any information and a photograph copy of the old McIntire School
in Jackson Township, Wells Co.
Question for those on the list who live in the Bluffton area or have stayed
at a good motel, on one of their research trips. What is a good motel (safe
and clean) in the area. I am planning a research trip and will be in the
area about a week. Last time I stayed in Fort Wayne, but want to stay in
Wells County this time, to be near the court house and the cemeteries.
I have a list of the motels, but I am not familiar with the area to know
which one is the best. Thanks....

I stated Elizabeth died in La George, Indiana and that should have been
LaGrange, Indiana. I thank a lady for pointing that out to me. Too
early in the morning.

Hi , I am new on the list and would like to say glad to be here.
I am searching for descendant of Gillian/Killian/Gideon Gary. I
understand that some of his children moved to Wells County, Indiana
after 1833. One in particular is Elizabeth Gary who married Abraham
Shaefer. Elizabeth was born abt.1811 in Fairfield County, Ohio. She died
in La George, Indiana in 1881. Thank you.

is still living in Bluffton. Let me know if this is who you are looking
