I am, once again, looking for information on a Lucretia Naugle who married
Oliver W. Huston in Washington Co., IN and had two sons, Samuel and Charles,
as listed in the 1860 Federal Census in Gibson Twp.
In 1870, Lucretia is listed in Crawford Co., IL, Martin Twp., and married to
Thomas Carlin (whom I believe is actually Thomas Carlile). I have been told
that Lucretia Huston (nee Naugle) married Thomas Carlile in IN, perhaps
Washinton Co., about 1866, but I found no record of it, at least on the
Internet. i did find a record of a marriage of [S]ucretia [H]augle to Oliver
Huston in the Index, Lucretia's name being transcribed poorly or poorly
written in the record. (Thomas Carlile is listed in Scott Co., IN, Vienna
Twp. in 1850 and I cannot find him in 1860, but may be in Jackson Co., IN in
1860)
Listed and Living in the Carlin/Carlile household in 1870 are Samuel and
Charles Hustian, along with Sarah J. Naugle Age 23, a sister of Lucretia,
and an Oliver Webb. I believe that Oliver W. Huston's middle name may be
Webb, and that this Oliver Webb is somehow related to Lucretia or her
children. Maybe her children's cousin.
There is also a James Carlin, with wife Sarah on the same page as Thomas and
Lucretia in 1870 Crawford Co., IL, and I believe that James Carlin
is actually a Carlile and is a younger brother of Thomas.
The Naugle family (Lucretia and Sarah's parents and siblings, including
Sarah) are listed in Crawford Co., MO in 1860.
I have not done any other research, but am trying to figure out if Thomas,
Lucretia and any of her family survived beyond the 1870 census, as I cannot
find them in 1880. For some reason, I thought that Thomas Carlile died, and
she moved back to Washington Co., IN, and remarried, but did not find her in
1880.
Thanks for any assistance.
