In the History of Washington County Indiana 1884 published by the historical society of
Wash. Co., is the following : Pg783

originally comprising sixty-three lots. Thirty more lotswere added August 31, 1835 by
James McPheeters, John McKinney, L.H. Smith,A.R. Orchard, J.C.Wibleand J.C.

Subject: [Washington Co IN] Lost Smith family
Searching for any information on Leonard Hutton Smith, his wife Catharine B. aka Kitty,
and perhaps three children.
The last found of them is on the 1840 Federal census, with L H Smith owning some type of
commerce in Livonia. He, his wife and family lived with his father and mother, Hugh and
Mary {Hutton) Smith, possibly in Vernon or Madison townships. Mary, the mother, died in
1838 and his father, Hugh, died in 1841. Both are buried in the Livonia Cemetery beside
the sister of Leonard Huiton Smith, named Mary Hutton Smith Orr or Polly Orr, who married
William Orr. The Smith family had many relatives in the area, including the Mcpheeters
family.
I would like any information on this long lost family, plus any real estate, taxes, and
property that is known or recorded. After the death of the parents they may have moved
to Missouri where they had other relatives.
Thank you for any help
