I think I typed in the wrong possible date for Dorcas' death. :-( I believe
she died before John & Eliza (Weston) married in March 1850. I did a quick
search in my file cabinet for the hard copies of the land transaction &
indenture, but did not find them. I have stacks of Boling info yet unfiled, and
suspect they may be in there. Soon as I can I will see if I can find them.
Meanwhile, Fred is your best bet.
I did find this in my notes:
Court records: Washington County Court House, Salem, Indiana, photocopies of
land records and indenture made by Fredrick W. Boling. Photocopies abstracted by
Fredrick W. Boling:
John and Dorcas sold land 25 Dec 1841; John signed a 5 yr indenture to David B.
Platt in 1852 for John's son Elijah to learn the blacksmith trade. Elijah's
indenture was for 5 years, a standard duration. Upon completion of his
indenture, he became a journeyman blacksmith. He completed his indenture in
1857. Eliza is a widow of John Boling on a land deed to Hiram Hurst 15 Nov 1855.
John had died between 1852 and 1855. Elijah, Alvin, Sarah and Sela A are too old
to be an issue of John and Eliza Weston-Boling. Elijah, Alvin and Selah A. were
born before John and Dorcas sold the land in 1841, and Sela A was the same age
as Andrew Weston (7y) on 1850 census. The deed description is as follows: Part
of N.E. 1/4 of N.W. 1/4 of Section 12 in Township 3 North of Range 4 East.

Then in the 1860 census, Elijah is shown as a "Journeyman Blacksmith" age 23.

Hi Linda, I did not know about Elijah/blacksmithing, nor did I know Dorcas was
still living in 1855. I know John married again (Eliza Weston) in 1850 so I
assumed Dorcas had died, but maybe they divorced. But I wonder why John had the
kids in 1850, and where was Dorcas. They lived in the Monroe-Jefferson Twp area
so I would think they would be buried there, in one of the five cemeteries:
Collett, Gater, Peugh, Ridlen and Weston.
