I believe Amos Ross was my g-g-g-grandfather. My g-g-grandmother was Martha A. Ross who
married John Nicholas in Washington County. In 1840 Washington County census, he had 2
females living in his house between the ages of 10 and 15. Martha would have been 14. In
the 1850 Washington County census, Martha Ross is shown living with James and Margaret
Luster. Margaret was 2 years younger than Martha was, so I am assuming that it is
probably her younger sister and her husband. In 1850 Jackson County census, Amos is shown
with wife Lucinda and 3 children with the last name of McAnelly which was Lucinda's
maiden name. Indiana marriage records show Amos and Lucinda being married on April 10,
1847 in Scott County Indiana. That was about 20 years after my g-g-grandmother was born,
so it is obviously his second marriage. The 1860 Jackson County Indiana census shows both
Amos and Lucinda were born in Virginia. I hope this helps.
