I have a couple of Washington Co. Fleener names I would like to add to
the mix....
Dorothy FLEENER, born abt. 1807 VA or SC, married Jacob HOUSH on 22
November 1826 in Washington County. They had 9 children. Jacob (born
1801 KY) died in 1859 Putnam Co., IN and his widow and children moved to
Jefferson Co., KS.
Mary FLEENER married George Peleg HOUSH on 17 June 1811 in Washington
Co., IN. George, born 1788 PA, died 1863 Putnam Co., IN. They had 13
children.
How were Mary and Dorothy FLEENER related?
Jacob and George HOUSH were brothers, son's of Adam HOUSH (1756-1829
Putnam Co., IN) and Mary BECCA-??.
Their brother, David HOUSH, married Elizabeth THORNBRUGH on 27 Feb
1827. It is Elizabeth's family that I am researching primarily... she
was the daughter of Joseph THORNBRUGH/Thornberry/Thornburgh - we find
all sorts of spellings -and Rebecca GIBSON.
I am working on the theory that the Joseph THORNBERRY on the 1820 census
in Washington Co., IN may have been our Joseph.... has anyone any
information on him and his family?? Also on that 1820 census is an Amos
THORNBURGH and his son Benjamin THORNBURGH.
Another Fleener in my files is a James FLEENER who married Nancy Jane
STEPHENS (born 4 Jan 1840) probably in Warrick Co., IN. The Stephens
family had been in KY and moved to IN at some point before 1832. I have
no idea whether or not this James has any relationship to those in
Washington Co., IN..... but I'd be happy to exchange information with
anyone interested in these families.
