rmmcw(a)effingham.net has just directed me to the 1820 Washington Co,In
census
full of families that had lived a few years in the Calvery-Laurel-Pekin
area of s Clermont
Co,Oh's Washington twnsp. [Some alsowent to Effingham,Il,Marcia]
I 'm comparing the Washington Twnsp history in Evert's 1880 history of
Clermont Co Oh
with the 1820 Washington Co,In census found by going to
www.usgenweb.com,and selecting
STATE ARCHIVES SEARCH ENGINE, then setting it to search In for SAPP or
McGrew. I've long
known some went to Washington Co,In 1811+ 1820,and later.
I have no proof of most of the above, and I INCLUDE 'NOT" the more common
surnames/
Archer,Beck,Boultinghouse,Colclasier,Dawson,Day, Derham [Denham?-Durham?
Donham?]
Elrod,Fiscus,Fisher
[?],Gaskins,Haden,Harry,Hedrick,Hodges,Keyt,Manning,McGREW,DICKS,
POLLARD,NEWKIRK,PURKISER,SAPP,SEATON,SELLERS,SARGENT,SIMMONS,WOOD.
Note that this is 1820 census, and I think some like FEE followed.
Boultinghouse was mid NJ >FAYETTE CO KY. 1790 david COLGLASIER,ADAM
SIMMONS,-DICKS,
and Finley McGrew were in Westmoreland co,pa.
Earlier,SIMMONS-MCGREW,DICKS were nne of
Gettysburg,Pa. 3 WOOD brothers and their 3 sisters married to Mannings
built a 1795 fort 5 miles
north of MOSCOW,Oh,on the river. They lost a land suit about 1811.
Indeed,many lost land suits
in Clermont Co,Oh [much as Tom Lincoln had lost 800 Ky acres, and moved
the boy,Abe,to s In].
I have several anscestors, with common names, in the Calvery neighborhood
of s Clermont Co,Od
[RT 756and RT 743 INTRSECTION. ] Likely there are clues for me to learn
from that the Washington
Co,Ind genealoists know.
Adam and Susanah Jones Fisher Chirstened their eldest 1777 just n
Hagerstown,Md, and moved
to BEDFORD-SOMERSET CO,Pa. In S ClermontCo, Oh,they were joined by her
brither,REV WAR
pension applicant THOMAS [of DAVID?] JONES-OF Welsh descent. Some of the
JONES went to
Indiana. Perhaps some of the Fisher's,also, for they were in losing land
suits. They lived in Clermont
a couple miles from Colclasier's,Wood's,Manning's,Sapp's,Boultinghouses,
as did my Capt-Lt-
Rev -JP GEORGE BROWN,d 1814,leaving a will that did "not" name all his
BROWN kids.For certain,
2 of his moved to Bartholomew Co,Ind,just ne of Washington Co.
Adam Simmons had a son,JOHN,in Washington Co,In 1820 married to a McGREW.
[several FINLEY
MCGREW'S. Colclasiers lived in the same hundred as my Brown's in ne old
FREDRICK Co,Md
Richards and Armacosts, and many others, also. Imust go. 100 y dad's
calling.
KEYT'S and Seller's may be akin.
