*John PAVEY was on the 1812 & 1813 Harrison Co, IN. Tax Lists and may have
lived in the part of Harrison Co that was taken to form (in part) Washington
Co, IN. in 1814. He was taxed for horses only as far as we have been able
to tell. Estate papers on John Pavey were filed August Court Term, 1814,
Washington Co, estate not settled until 1830. No land records have ever
been found for him. He was, more than likely, the "Pavey, Indian Scout that
scorned the safety of Forts" that I read in a Washington Co. History Book.
We know that he did own land in Guilford Co, NC from 1803-1807. He married
his 2nd wife, Frances "Fanny" Martin there in 1801. The ANDERSON's were
known Nicolites (religious sect much like the Quakers only far stricter)
from the Eastern Shore and many had migrated to Guilford Co (Jamestown @
Deep River) by 1800.
Anderson & Peninah were members of the Church of Christ in Washington Co. I
have heard that there was a book written on this Church which is not
indexed. If anyone should happen to have a copy of it, a Lookup would be
greatly appreciated.
I have more information on these families and will gladly pass it along to
those interested. If anyone should have further information on them
(especially about John Pavey, Anderson's father), it would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you.
