I host the family research website for the Hattabaugh and Fleenor families on
MyFamily.com
called AfterImage. We have about 600 members who represent these two families and their
various inter-connected famiy lines. Our earliest Hattabaugh was Johan Michel Hettenbach
who was born in Montgomery Co., PA. in 1732. His son was Johann Georg Hettenbach who was
born in Germantown, Philadelphia Co., PA 10 Nov. 1761. George's mother was Anna Maria
Dahl. George married Anna Mary Keinadt who was born 1 Sept. 1762 in Lancaster, later a
part of Lebanon Co., PA. They married in either Lancaster Co. or possibly Cumberland Co.,
PA and moved with Mary's entire family to Augusta Co., VA about 1789 where they stayed
until moving on to settle on Walnut Ridge in about 1809 while Indiana was still a
territory. They stopped off in KY. where they apparently made a family connection with
Jacob Hattabough whose family was from Deleware. Both George and Jacob's families
settled in the Walnut R!
idge area at the same time, so we believe that there was a close family connection
between the PA/VA Hettenbach/Hattabaugh line and the DE. Hattenbach/Hadabuck/Hattabough
family line. We just don't know what that connection may be. Later on, grandchildren
of each line intermarried, so it truly is one line now. The Keinadt line has been traced
back definitively to the 1300s in Germany and they have a strong family association with
documentation of this very distinguished family. Mary's father was Michael Keinadt
who served in the Rev. War. George and Mary's children all settled in the Wash. Co.,
IN. area and married into these families: Stalker, England, Ellison, Judia, Weston,
McClary, Denny, Hagen, Butler. The circle widened as their children married into other
pioneer families, inlcuding Fleenor, Trueblood, Shields, Walker, McClellan and more. Our
family association hosts a nation-wide reunion every other year in a different location,
usually in June. There are H!
attabaughs scattered all over the country. Contact me via email for a
dmission to our family research site or visit
www.fleenorhattabaugh.myfamily.com and
request admission there. My line of descent is: Johan Michel Hettenbach, Johann Georg
Hettenbach/aka George Hattabaugh, Michael Hattabaugh, Jonathan Lee Hattabaugh, Newton
George Hattabaugh, Talmadge Hattabaugh, to Ruthie Mae Hattabaugh -- all of Wash. Co., IN.
